Nick Howard will lead that team to the ship. He has been working like a dog this off season. He is captain of great team that i coach.
I attended Dixie College in '74 and '75 and I was on the Sun Staff when I was there. I was also on the staff of the student radio station - KRDC FM. I've been living out of state for many years and have completely lost touch with Dixie College. When did it become Dixie State? When and WHY did its teams change from the Rebels to the Red Storm?????
-DN moderator, there was nothing offensive and it was not any more off topic than JB's post in my previous post-
Dixie became Dixie State about 6-8 years ago. They just changed from the 'Rebels' to the 'Red Storm' last year despite the fact the public, students, and Alumni all voted to change mascot to the 'Red Hawks'(Red Storm was dead last out of five choices).
The change is because someone fears that the school might, possibly, sometime, could be sued for having a racist moniker or being associated with the triple K. Better yet they plan on getting rid of the ‘Dixie’ name too as soon as they become affiliated with the U.
We, the Alum, here in St. George are DISGUSTED by the whole name thing and the need to be PC. Just waiting till they get rid of the Sports program next when he U thing goes through and Dixie becomes a 4 year extended high school with NOTHING to make it a great school to attend.
