You have definately led the way in this industry and I do not know a paper that covers all High School sports in the country better than the Des News and with a web site thatis so easy to follow. Thanks for all and all the hard work. The kids and parents appreciate it.
Thanks | 8:46 a.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Congrats to James and also all the writers at the Deseret News for your articles. Your follow up on Prep sports keeps me tuned in everyday and I appreciate the effort for all of your readers. Keep it up and thanks from everyone out there!
Well deserved | 9:10 a.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Dnews is by far the best place to get high school sports information. Even better than the "local" paper that should have more interest in the local schools. Thank you for your coverage of all the state high schools and congratulations on a well deserved honor.

I totally agree! DNews is by far the best place to get high school news. They try to cover all sports and are current on scores and stories. I feel that DNews has actually gotten better over the years that my kids have been in high school, and the two other papers have gotten worse. Thanks again!!
I Agree too! | 11:14 a.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Since James Edwards took over Desnews has been on the uprise on coverage of sports. It is very easy to find stats, records, standings and rankings. I remember in the late 90's when Jay Drew did a great job for the sl tribune. He since moved up though and sl trip has been on the downfall of high school sports coverage. Definately desnews with James Edwards is rocking. Congrats and keep up the goodness.

Even region 1 (North) gets their info from Dnews! Best high scholl sports news around. Thank you!

i have to echo what has already been said. edwards does an awesome job. people in utah are involved and care more about prep sports a lot more than the jazz and college stuff. you guys blow the trib out of the water when it comes to all high school athletics. keep it up, we love it!
once again... | 1:37 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
i agree as well!!! i have been to other states...Texas for example...a state where high school football is KING the biggest state for High School Football in the country!! i went to watch future WR Ross Apo play and to watch the BYU vs. Oklahoma game...then to the Bingham vs. Trinity game and i'll tell you what...when i tried to find a paper that covered the game (ross apo's game that is) i had a tough time doing so...whereas when you are in utah...you can find everything from a cross country article to the state football playoffs...from the state championship in basketball to the high school rodeo at the end of the year...BLOWS ME AWAY!!! Great Job Edwards!!!

Edward does a great job covering RSL, as well! As an avid soccer fan, I really appreciate all of the up-to-date info from Black, Rasmussen, and Edward about RSL and MLS. Just wish you guys could travel to all of the games so we readers could get consistant info all season long.

Great job!

agreed! Edwards does a great job. It is frustrating to not have any coverage for 1 and 2 A on the trib and television so we always end up at DNews. The tribs website is nicer showing each school but they haven't actually updated it for the past 2 years and DNews does a much better job of trying to track the individual kids stats. I am sure it would be even better if we would feed them more game info.

Way to go, Mr. Edwards! Region 9 has appreciated your statewide perspective and balanced reporting. I've met you in person a time or two, e-mailed questions to you a few others, and on each occasion you were responsive, genuinely interested, and demonstrated your commitment to Utah prep sports.
Thank you for all you do.
Dnews prep sports is best | 11:05 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
In the early to mid 1990's, the D-News trailed the SL Trib in prep coverage. However, that is no longer the case as the D-News has the best prep staff by far. Their coverage is superior to the Trib (whose prep coverage is lame and inconsistent) and amazingly better than the local papers across the state. Excellent work, Mr. Edwards.

Thanks Mr. Edwards. The coverage of the small town high school sports in important to the people from those communities. Thanks for all of the coverage of the smaller schools too.

As a parent that has three children that played High School Sports, I can say that James Edward has made a difference in Deseret News coverage. This is a reason that people buy newspapers. Keep up the good work and effort.

As a parent who enjoyed one of those 'bonus' moments in life, as I watched the Hunter Wolverines win both football and basketball state titles (2003-2004), Mr. Edward will remain in my minds eye as one of those who covered my son's playing days unbiased and seemed to have an indebth understanding of those things going on behind the scenes, the game within the game.

Props to James for his tireless effort in bringing home this award. Well deserved!
