Matsui was the difference, he came through when it mattered. Chase Utley, even though had a great post season, couldn't figure out Andy. Howard had a moster homerun, but that was all he had. Rollins shouldn't call the Phillies in 5 when he hadn't the most spectacular World Series to date. The World Championship is back were it BELONGS!!!!!! GO YANKEES

Yuck

I hate the Yankees but I love baseball and enjoyed the games. I think Arod and the threat of Arod helped provide opportunities for Matsui. I loved how sensitive the announcer on NY radio was when he called, "An Abomb for Arod," while Japan's Matsui was then coming to the plate.

Anyway, hats off to the Yanks. Money can buy championships.

Posada

That dude doesn't get his just deserts for being the guy catching that many championships and he isn't a rented player, he is a farm system guy and an awesome offensive and defensive catch.

UNLV

Jeter bats .423 in the world series. There's a winner. 5 rings and never a failure in post season play. Been a Yankee his whole career. I hope he wins 2 more.

Lesli In NY..

We are the champions, baby!!!
Go Yankeessssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Man

You can say all you want about every player, but, JETER is the MAN. Matsui had a big game, Jeter had monster GAMES. He is the true Prince of New York.

Yankees earned it. Enjoy it!

No better way to cristen the new stadium! I can't think of a better place to closeout the series. Congrats Yankees! Looking forward to #28!

The best team MONEY could buy.

Money

Best team money can buy. This is why baseball has lost the term "America's Pasttime" to football. They Yankees represent most everything that is wrong with baseball.

Putting in a salary cap would fix so many problems.

Money Talks

I hate the Yankees with a passion. It just goes to show that money can buy a championship eventually. I guess other teams can work as hard as they can but the Yanks will swoop in with their bags of money and take everything that the other teams worked so hard to achieve. I will never forget when the Yankees lost to Arizona. That was awesome. Too bad it took them 9 years and billions of dollars to buy a championship. I wonder what better use that money could have gone too. Oh well.

chamberlain on a world series championship team makes 2 within last 3 years! keep it brothers as I know both of your families and you do us proud ...there's more to come from others in the future in other sports. It's knowing where to get the science that counts!

To The Haters

I'm not going to argue with you Yankee haters about our team's spending, I'll admit it, we buy the best. The thing I can't stand is you crying boston red sox fans that bring it up. Boston is always trying to buy a team, they just end up losing to our team's bid by 15-20 million or so and then they cry we need a salary cap. I'll take it from the phillie fans and the rest of the teams, but I won't take it from sox fans. They are just as bad as the Yankees.

UNLV

The reason the Yankees have all that money is they try to win every year. Players want to play for a winning organization. The Pirates try and lose every year. That's why they have no money to pay good players. Boston has money, LA has money, Atlanta has money. The Yankees just choose to spend what they make and not be greedy. All good business reinvests its profits back into the business.

Dream Team?

I never hear anyone complaining when America sends its very best NBA stars to compete in the Olympics, and bring home the "Gold."

So, what is the difference here? True two wrongs never make a right, but can we only be biased towards Olympic Gold?

Go Yankee's! I was not a fan of the Yankee's until this year. Way to go!

I thought it was more in plain view that professional sports are a business. I'm not isolating baseball or the Yankees. But it is about investing and ledgers, which I hate to see. Makes one lean toward collegiate athletics, although even then it's an apprentice MBA program in the making. No, we are a far cry from what was once played as sport, with a chance to help make mortgage payments, to a high end business of making as a much as 15k per at bat.

I love the game of baseball. Wanted the series to go a full 7. I also happen to be in the middle of the Yankee haters and the lovers. But if someone offered you 2 million for your 150k house would you turn it down? Don't hate the players, they're just conducting business in the oftentimes, skewed marketplace called sport.

Bill Baumgardner Sr.

I KNEW when I was 6 years that the Yankees were the best team in the world & have been ever since! :) I am so happy that they are playing good ball again. Of course NO team can compare to those of the days of my childhood. They were THE VERY BEST! But I have learned to accept the Yankees of today, but I never forget that they are of today.

Why play the season? When Texiera, Sabitha and Barnett were signed, it was over. NFL, please keep your salary cap.

SOCIALIZE MLB

put in a salary cap, I am sick of seeing the same 6 teams in the playoffs every year. It is like college football, the same big money teams play for the championships. grrrrrr

Seriously, I am surprised baseball hasn't tanked yet. Who outside of a few cites actually watches the game anymore? Are they getting a stimulus check for the gov or something lol...
