What would we expect from the 'gimme' generation. Ask what your country can do for you, is the new national motto. Soon we will all be beholden to the imperial federal govt., and left to wonder where our personal freedoms went.

And this is news? AARP is a liberal political action/insurance selling group that has it's agenda written into the bill such as the Medicare supplimental insurance. I wonder if they still have 40 million members since this year there has been a mass exodus from AARP due to it's support of the health bill. Other are like I am and are just waiting for the membership to expire and will not renew. There are at least two other senior organizations that better represent the interests of seniors.

Your true colors have been exposed indicating that you are nothing more than a political lobbist group who panders to the establishment rather than representing the interest of your thousands of members. People who subscribe to your organization do so because they feel you will look out for their best interest rather than pandering to the liberal socialistic establishemnt. I hope every members takes a long hard look at your platform and drops their membership. You deserve what you get - SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!

Many have the propaganda down about AARP. Elderly folks are socialist. Just think, before Fox and talk radio these where America's greatest generation. I forget, it was a liberal writer that honors "America's greatest generation." What did they do for America, other than win WWII? I friend's liberal university educated father flew a Havoc bomber over France on D Day. It figures, the French awarded him with their metal of valor.

Funny how most of you attacking AARP avoided serving our nation like Rush Limbaugh did.

Wow, you need to learn to use your spelling and grammer check. Oh, and check your facts too. Most people who qualify for AARP, which seem to be most of the people who are making comments on this article(except me)either served in the Korean war, the Vietnam war or were directly affected by having their loved ones serve in those wars. How dare you imply that "most of you attacking AARP avoided serving our nation..."
The AARP recently said it would not "side" with the bill, after it lost a ton of members of course, only to turn around and do so last minute. If I was a member I would be screaming for my money back. And just to let you know how lamentable Government run health care will be take into account that seniors are LAST on the list for those recieving the H1N1 flu vaccination even though they are historically among the most vulnerable. I'm in my mid 40's and perfectly healthy and I can get the flu shot before them...THAT is a SICK Government run health plan my friend.

We need an alternative to AARP. There are a lot of elderly people like me that would be willing and anxious to join a group that would actually represent us instead of just seeing us as their victims!

How dare YOU imply that definition qualifies YOU as having served our nation. If you did not get drafted or enlist, you are nothing more than an OBSERVER.

Your definition places those like LIMBAUGH, CHENEY and other CHICKEN HAWKS of that ilk, as having served; which is a complete total documented falsehood.

Believe it or not, this virus is taking a much higher toll on the young than the old. Why? Because this swine flu is a variant of earlier forms to which many people over 50 (and most over 60) have already been exposed. Therefore, they are much more likely to have some immunity to the H1N1 virus.

With a limited amount of vaccine available, the government reasoned that it made sense to put seniors at the back of the line; since they are the least likely to be affected by the H1N1 virus.

I believe they (the government) made the correct choice.

By the way, here are your spelling errors:

Grammar and spelling correction made. Thank you. My step father is in his 70s and is not to worried about getting the swine flu for the very reasons you mentioned, however I still feel he is vulnerable because he gets sick easily. Time will tell if the Government made the right call on this one, but I feel like I am far less likely to have any serious side effects of the swine flu than the elderly should they come down with it.
And "To Anonymous" I did not dare to qualify myself as having served in any war. Quite the contrary, I was stating (but obviously not well enough) that the others who were writing before you, it seemed to me anyway, were upset members and ex-members of the AARP and so they are certainly old enough to have possibly served in any of at least three wars yet you dared to say they had "avoided serving our nation like Rush Limbaugh did". You don't know if they served or not. However, the service of my natural father during Vietnam DID affect me, a young OBSERVER,very personally.

AARP sold out to Obama and is now losing it's base. Don't wait for your membbership to expire. Quit now and get a refund. I did!

I just cancelled my AARP membership. They betrayed us the AARP members. The membership did not support ObamaCare, AARP management did. I assume they had a pay off for doing this. I predict this will end the AARP as millions of members leave
