NO!! Surely not!! I cannot believe that a pathologically manipulative pederast with messianic delusions would INTENTIONALLY be disrupting court proceedings by feigning derrangement! It strains credulity too far!

Hmm, sarcasm doesn't come across too well in the written word, or perhaps I simply lack the skills to convey it.

As someone who generally tries to maintain the "innocent until proven guilty" perspective: could we please try this "man", who is clearly manipulating this system, lock him up, and get him out of the newspaper for good? I'm sick of giving him the attention he so desperately craves. Time to toss him into the general population at the Point and leave him there.

If Michell is sane, I must also accept that sane people run around saying they are prophets and kidnap young girls? Criminally is an abstraction.

Most of us sane people go through our lives and never act this way. I'm 56. The people I grew in school that later committed crimes where different as kids.

We can't view crime behaviorally with the goal of being proactive. Let's wait until people have been hurt. Even in 2009 its still about good verses evil.

They are geniuses! They finally figured it out that this man was who everybody else in the world with a brain thought he was. The Utah justice system is an embarrasment and a disgrace to the United States and the world. These people are a joke. When are people going to learn that the only justice for people like Mitchell is the electric chair.

It is all about self control. He has it. He can control himself. He is probably pretty intelligent and knows how to play the system. If he gets off for being insane, the system is broken. Miss Smart will never recover the time and life he stole from her. I deeply admire her for how she has handled this situation. To me it demonstrates a strong faith and will and a maturity beyond her years. Best wishes Miss Smart!

What message did the State of Utah send to all criminals by allowing this man to manipulate the system? Just close your eyes, sing, refuse to answer questions and any pedophile can go to a state hospital and not prison. I'm so angry the state didn't do their job- they let Mitchell control the system. I hope the feds don't let him get away with it- can't wait until he is in prison -not a hospital- in a small cold cell with every misery that comes with that. What a con artist he is- compliments of the state courts of Utah!
