Should be a great weekend for HS football! As a follower of 5A football, I think the matchups will prove to be very exciting. My predictions are as follows:

PG will beat Davis in a close one. PG has the guys--Lloyd, Kruger, Doman--to go far.

Lone Peak will take it to Hunter--special teams/kicking will be the difference. The MacPherson kid can seriously kick the ball.

Alta will take it to Cottonwood. Alta is loaded with talent, playoff experience, and emotion.

Bingham is just too good all the way around for Syracuse.

I agree with you Football Fan, although I think Hunter could give LP a decent game if they can get up early. PG and Davis will be close, with the game at Davis I'd say it's a toss-up but because I'm a region 4 guy I'm pulling for PG. Alta v CW and Bingham v Syracuse will both be decent games as well but I think another Alta v Bingham game at RES is inevitable.

Springville was a dropped pass in the endzone with 2 seconds left in the half from being up by just 7 against a very average Skyview team. If they think they are going to be state champs they are nuts, unless they have the same officials as last week. WX make sure to tell your DE's to be ready to get tackled from behind all game long! The winner of MC/TV next week will take it all. Also, for all those who keep saying that Highland is so much improved from early in the year and will beat MC,get a clue because MC is much better as well and it will be over early.

that juan diego loss was the best things that could have happened for the red devils, it refocused them and they've played great football since then. i wouldn't be suprised to see them playing for a state title.

Even when they're ranked high, they find a way to bomb in the playoffs.

I just can't see them doing anything. Run first teams don't win in 4A.

This is a joke.... right? Juan Diego handled this D pretty easily. I will say they are pretty tough up the middle but are very weak and slow on the outside. We ran right at their outside backers and safeties and they just got out of the way. If WX has a decent back and runs him weakside he will pile up about 125-150 yds. DE's break contain also when they read pass, play action ate them alive.

It was a good throw just a great play by the DB go take another look at it. Skyview dropped to many passes that were wide open, that had nothing to do with your defense just bad hands like it has been all year by those two. You should beat WX but in no way are you as good as MC and it's not close.

I am not a MC fan but everyone always says "Timpview hasn't lost to a 4A team" well, neither has MC. Their one loss was to 5A Lone Peak, who as I understand, is a pretty good team. Highland has its hands full.

In regards to Highland, TV and MC, lets look at their common opponents. MC has already beaten HH once, 48-27 @HH. All 3 played HH, ID. HH lost by 2, TV won by 6 and MC won by 7. TV and HH each played Orem and Oly. TV won 40-0 and 35-7, HH won 34-0 and 34-0. MC and HH each played East, MC winning 48-0, HH winning 28-7. Taking each into consideration, I would say that MC has the advantage of TV and HH but HH might have a slight edge or TV. This is why games are played as you never know on paper who will win as these 3 power teams all have legitimate shots at winning. Good luck to all.

Not only are lloyd and sampson ready to go, but sefa too. And Owens and Header are healthy enough to carry the rock and give Harris a bit of a break. (not to much of a break cause Jeff has been awesome) And Hunt will be back on the O line. Go PG.

will run Bingham into the ground. Looking at film Bingham is lazy and slow. They are very over-rated and over-hyped and have things handed to them on a silver platter. We have to work for everything we get and any respect we received. Our line will dominate. Our backs will run over and around slow guys. Our receivers will eat up the soft DBs. Our defense is just to good to give up more than 14 points against that poor offense with more slow lazy guys.

I would be very, very, very surprised if Highland could hang with Timpview. Teams that try and run it down Timpview's throat have had very little success doing it in the last 6 years. Traditionally, Highland's type of offense has had a fair amount of difficulty scoring against Coach Wong's defense.

However, TV has shown vulnerability when they are spread out and teams throw it on them (Mountain Crest and Cottonwood last year), so I do think that Mountain Crest is a very legitimate threat to knocking them off.

Need to remember that TV has players who have been there before (as does MC to a certain extent) which will definitely be an advantage over Highland if they make it to Rice Eccles.

MC played Pocatello of Idaho and won by 7. BTW that team has won only 3 games and is the equivalent of 3A in Utah. Until last week Timpview had been the only team that had defeated Highland. Soo if you are going to do common opponents might want to actually use the right opponents.

I also heard that Lloyd has a broken ankle but that Sefa could be back this week. Does anyone have an official word on Dallas It was great to see Owens in the backfield last week and I really do hope he runs a little on Friday. It will be a lot of fun to see him and hinds play in the same game. Also, Hunt would be a huge welcome to the O-line and will help with size. This will be a great game but we need the ball in Jeff's hands if we are going to win. The kid is way too talented to not get involved.

I actually am one who this year has said that TV should be considered the favorite because they haven't lost to a 4A team...........in over THREE YEARS! That makes them the favorite and I want MC to win and have a different champion but it not be easy.

SF ran for 130 yards and passed for 255 yards against SV, yet you say your defense is incredible. If SF is not considered to be a contender and they did this to you, and they were a couple of mistakes away from beating you... how do you think you can beat either TV or MC? SV must be hitting the spawn... AGAIN

SV is sure doing alot of talking....But when they end up without a STATE championship we will all be laughing. Keep talking SV... it will just make it sweeter when you lose.

You are a young school and maybe this is what it will take to teach you that you don't punch the beast in the face when standing there and looking at you. They are not slow, they are not lazy. You will not run over them. You might be able to pass against them, but run?? I don't think so. Good Luck with Langi.....we are all going to have to face him again next year too. Yep... Bingham is slow and lazy. Also, the only reason they have so many points is because they run up the score and leave the starters in the whole game. Punching it in at the end of the Viewmont game and going deep with a huge leads.

You are crazy to think anyone but Timpview is the 4A favorite. I hate Timpview and they could very well lose, but don't be stating that MC or Highland has any sort of "edge" over Timpview.

No official word on lloyd, but from the posts it sounds like a broken or badly sprained ankle. I know he was walking on the sidelines in the second half of the Riverton game but with a pretty big limp. I am confident that lewis can step up and fill in at the QB position. He had an outstanding game against Alta and a solid half against Riverton. Hopefully he can go both ways against Davis. PG will need sure tacklers at the 2nd and 3rd level. Also, as well as Jeff Harris has been playing and having owens in the backfield will take some pressure off Lewis. Harris is an excellent scat back and a blocker and owens can flat out punish people. The biggest question will be the offensive line. If they can give Lewis time to throw and harris even the smallest of holes to get through, I see a win against Davis. Im excited to see Davis's Running back also. I heard that no one can arm tackle the kid? andways, good luck to the Vikings!

To all of you idoits that think it is actual Springville fans and players on here talking ... get a clue. The boys are at practice at this moment and they are keeping to a silence like they have done all year. Some teams want some material so they pretend to be fans of Springville then stir the pot. Springville is taught to respect the opposing team, their fans and lastly themselves. They have not looked past anyone and are focused on one thing at this moment and that is the upcoming game with a very good Woods Cross team.

So please go stir the bees somewhere else.....
