Orem Tragedy | 8:25 a.m. Nov. 4, 2009
9 years of Orem digression will continue, beautiful orchards being destroyed, "Check Citys" and tattoo parlors popping up all around us, vacant buildings and businesses, money being wasted, undesirables invading our once beautiful city, poor decisions all around us, but the people have been heard! We want more of the same!!!... ???... disgusting!

Orem citizens have their heads in the "wash." They must enjoy seeing Washburn's Mid-Town Mess everyday, knowing that they had no vote in the expenditure of their hard earned tax dollars. A vote (or non-vote) for Washburn means more "washing" and "burning" of our city!

There are wonderful people working very hard in Orem City government. Why don't you try being one of them? Volunteer--there are boards and commissions and community organizations. Be a part of the solution. Then your voice will mean something. Anyone can complain. Do your research and find out more than the online paper or your neighbor can tell you. Be informed. Grumps take up valuable air.

No one is mentioning the terrible roads in Orem! When will government step in and use our tax dollars to repair Orem roads!!

Come on people. 76% represents what the city wants. Like it or not. Orem is one of the best places to live and I appreciate Mayor Washburns willingness to continue to serve our city. Congratulations!

"Orem Tradgedy" and "Wash" sound like they are from the opponents camp and can't get over their loss.

Mayor Washburn has given much and will continue giving. Congrats!

Congratulations Jerry. Orem is a beautiful and safe place to live. I am thrilled Mayor Washburn will continue to be our mayor. I have known him for years and I know he is an honorable man. Also, congratulations to Mr.Sumner, Ms. Street and Ms. McCandless.

Isn't it interesting how someone like Washburn could start off his office well and then go down the road and become just another politician, tossed to and fro by what's popular. His political philosophy is about as shallow as Utah Lake. Yes 76% of Orem voted for him and there's the issue. There are few citizens here who have a strong political philosophy's of their own. We are simply following in the poorly placed footsteps of our national government. I am for firm and constitutional-based political philosophy, and I fully and actively support those who believe similarly.

Pope, arrogance and ignorance make bad bedfellows. Apparently all "those who believe similarly" don't live in Orem, just you...

And the word is "philosophies" -- simply plural, not possessive.

Congrats to the new council members. Please know how grateful Orem citizens are for the work you will do.

Congratulations Mayor Washburn! I am very happy with this year's election results and I wish you the best of luck during the next four years.
