Where are you? I'd like to hear how you feel about Mayor Dolan being elected again.

All I have to say is its a sad day that Dolan can get re-elected despite the number of abuses that have gone on in that office.

Sandy residents get what they deserve, I suppose.

Sandy us the best run municipality in the State of Utah. The sad day will be the day it is no longer run by a man like Tom Dolan.

Sandy has been fortunate enough to not be hit too hard by the recent recession as compared to other parts of the country. However, I'm worried about how Tom Dolan would handle the situation if harder times hit Sandy. He stated that he would never raise taxes, but he also stated that he wouldn't cut any services either. If he can't make ends meet, that leaves debt as the only other option. Is that such a bad thing? Maybe, or maybe not. I'd like to avoid debt if possible though.

I voted for Dave Perry because he said that he'd be willing to cut back on expenses within the government if necessary. It's unrealistic to expect everything to be just as peachy as it's always been in tougher times, and I'd rather avoid any significant accumulation of debt. If cutting back on expenses means suspending projects such as the beautification of 13th east and the development of new business areas, then I don't mind. It seems unrealistic to expect business to grow and thrive during down times.

What you and Dave Perry don't know is that the city has a rainy day fund for just such times that they haven't had to use just yet. That means you can use that money to cover the gap between revenues and expenses with out cutting services to residents and with out raising taxes. Obviously it's a short term solution, but who knows how long this recession will last, but I think the Mayor has a great staff and is willing to do what's right for Sandy.

The City has been looking at how to give the same services as they currently been offering with less employees and less cost. Already, the departments have been through a couple of rounds of budget cutbacks, and there have been a few layoffs. There is also a soft freeze on new positions. Read the City Council minutes if you don't believe me.

Re: Jake, have you talked to Dave Perry? Personally? I have. You are making assumptions about something that you can't back up with fact. It would have been nice to see Dave Perry as mayor.
However, I believe on looking ahead. I hope Mayor Dolan will know what is best for our city for the next 4 years. I voted for Dave Perry, but Mayor Dolan has my support.

The city is in good shape and with Mayor Dolan at the head, he will be able to keep it that way.

I'm so glad Tom Dolan got his job back again. He has focussed on helping Sandy attract new businesses and keep existing ones. Our parks and trails are beautiful and clean. The streets are safe and well kept (Now that 9400 S. has been re-paved). My spouse and I are happy to pay property taxes for the pleasure of living in a city that can provide both economic opportunity and aesthetically pleasing environment. There is always the need to balance efficiency and environmental concerns, civic responsibility and the concerns of citizens. I think Mayor Dolan should continue to strive for these things and be kind to us, the taxpayers.
