In keeping with a longstanding Deseret News policy of not publishing stories the day before or the day of the election, no comments will be posted on election stories Monday or Tuesday. The rationale for this policy being applied to comments is to prevent the last-minute dissemination of untrue allegations against a candidate that could influence voters.

This is an AP story so why should I take it without understanding the agenda they want! This sounds more like an editorial.

The issues that bother me are the power the Feds want.

They will TAKE yours and my money just like they take SS and Medicare, without any thought of my needs, it will be the "needs of the Gov't". This is backwards! The health care legislation is a power grab that is dressed up as an entitlement that will destroy our country!

We need additional players in the healthcare that are able to bring costs down and the quality up?

Walmart, Costco, Sams Club, etc are large clearing houses..

They do reduce costs by buying in quantity and can demand quality because of it and offer return policys. A simplified distribution system too.

Yes, there may be some lines to wait in at times at walmart etc, but people have the choice of better prices where before they could not afford it.

The Government would give this type of large competition which would force the industry to change and reduce the waste going on while giving the public a better cost for their services.

Its about developing the right type of competition in the healthcare industry that reduces costs through mass buying power can demand quality.

Time for a large player (Government) to get involved.

The Government runs medicare more efficiently than the private industry. That upsets the current greedy fatcats in the private industry.

The nice choice with government is if they are not providing quality healthcare, we can vote them out!

That is why they dont touch medicare.. The seniors would vote them out.

Thats True Freedom!
