I have heard the MC-Highland game is at 3:30, but this article says it is at 2:30. Can anyone confirm what the correct time for the game is for me. Thanks. GO MC

What is up with the early start times to the Friday games? Can anyone give an explanation as to why it is not the traditional Friday night games? I understand the Sat. games being afternoon, but what is going on with the Friday night games?
Good luck to all | 9:28 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Good luck to all teams. Every player and coach should be proud to make it this far.

Great comment. I agree there are some great games this week! It is definately fun to win, but winning isn't everything. There are too many Uncle Rico's out there that take high school sports so serious. Lets just all hope all the kids play hard and stay healthy.

Go Rams!!! | 10:51 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
If Mountain Crest thinks they are going to smash on the Rams, We shall see on Friday! this team is very different from the one they played in the first game. Highland can win this game!!!! GO RAMS!!
RE: ArmChairQBontheHill  | 11:03 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
I agree. These games should be played at night so every fan possible can attend. I guess the coaches and principals choose the game time. If they can't agree than it defaults to the Saturday afternoon time. It's pretty lame. Playoff time is usually when more of the alumni would like to see their teams play, but I guess getting the game over with is more important than fan support.
monkee | 12:22 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
best of luck to all the teams that made it this far.
MC FAN | 12:40 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
I think it is funny that people keep saying that it isn't the same team (highland) that MC played earlier this season. I am sure Highland is better now, but guess what, so is MC. All teams get better not just Highland!!! I don't think it will be a blowout, but I don't think Highland can slow down MC. MC will win this game.
HHS | 12:45 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
The Rams will beat down the donkeys from up north and show them what real football is! Go RAMS Take State!

hahahahahahah wow, your clueless
total1096 | 1:16 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Not everyone gets better. Bountiful peaked too early and played their best ball during the first half of the season..
Peaks | 1:37 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
So when did Highland peak? Have they peaked?
Anonymous | 1:47 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
I have no doubt Highland is better and that MC will have a tough time stopping the run. I just wonder why all these highland folks think the rams can now stop MC's passing game. Maybe they learned from playing teams like Bountiful???they throw a lot right??? It's hard to grind it out runnng the ball when you are down by two touchdowns
thinlizy | 1:49 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
My oh my how time fly"s and we are about to find out that the only way you get around a Bingham Alta championship is to keep them in the same bracket! I don't care who comes out of the other bracket one of these two will win it all. Nice try LP and PG! Not an Alta or Bingham fan but have seen enough to know they are the real deal when it comes to creating a program that last's year after year....sorry, just the way it is.
Hunter Alumni1315 | 2:02 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
It should be a good defensive battle between Lone Peak and Hunter with Hunter winning 24-21
Game Times | 2:04 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Without question more fans would be able to attend play-off games if they were held at the ususal 7:00 Friday evening but it is too cold in Utah in November to play at that time. In consideration for the health of the athletes, games are played while it is still a little warmer out. No matter when they are played there will always be people who complain.
Actually ... | 2:06 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
the VISITING TEAM has almost all of the power in deciding the time of a playoff game. Most HOME teams would love to play @ 7pm in front of a HUGE home crowd. However the visitors do not, so to keep the game on Friday and not have to compete with College and Little League games the home team is forced to play on Friday afternoon. Another UHSAA regulation that makes no sense.
Uh oh... | 2:25 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
You better watch out for the Red Devils. Wood Cross is going to feel a whole lot like Skyview.
Re thinlizy | 1:49 p.m. Nov. 3,  | 2:44 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Alta has peaked and started their slump, look what happened against PG with their back up QB!

We stomped PG and will stomp Alta or Bingham.

Welcome to the Round Table!

A certain 9-1 team down south is thinking RES and a rematch with Dixie........ but a funny thing happens when you run up against a well coached team of destiny...... you get beat down!!

Alta loses to Bingham (Again) Hunter handles LP and Davis deals PG.

Bingham vs Davis for state
Highland v MC | 3:22 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Does it really matter. The winner earns the right to get hammered by the T-Birds!
re Re thinzly | 3:27 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Alta has not peaked! When Alta played PG, Alta went back with their starting quarterback Jordan Brown, who hadn't played a down in over three weeks. And boy, did it show! His timing with all of his receivers was off, but he did just enough to preserve a win. Having watched Alta all year long, had they played their backup Boston Handley, Alta would have scored 30-40 points. He was on fire going into the PG game having played the prior three weeks as a starter. Go look at his numbers and scores that Alta was putting up with a backup quarterback. Trust me, Alta is starting to get healthy at all positions except for middle linebacker. Look at what Brown did to you LP when he was healthy. He destroyed you! Then when the game was out of reach, and when Alta should have had Brown on the bench, he gets popped by one of your line backers and separates a shoulder. Game against Pg was just rust! Brown will be back to full strength in no time and his timing with receivers will once again be back on!
O-fence | 3:36 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
bonneville better learn how to put more than 14 points on the board before they start talking about owning us!
man.. Alta | 3:47 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
EXCUSES, EXCUSES.. Give it up. PG has had plenty of injuries (to the best player in state) but the Vikings are fighting through it.

You Alta fans and players need to just man up, stop making excuses and go out and play the game!

not so fast.... | 3:57 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
if timpview thinks they are going to walk right to the championship game, they got another thing coming. i wouldnt be suprised in sf knocks them out of the second round. but to assume that they will just waltz through highland or mc is ludacris! one game at a time timpview, or you'll be having open gym for basketball tryouts come next week.
somebody please beat ALTA | 4:06 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
can't stand hearing from their whining fans. truthfully, although i would LOVE to see them lose to Bingham, i'm thinking that it would be more fun to see them get thumped by a PG with Lloyd back at QB. Either way, no one likes or can stand Alta.
Observer | 4:49 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Does Cottonwood have a chance against Alta? Everybody is talking about Alta vs. Bingham next week.
re: Actually | 5:15 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Not accurate. The default time is set on Saturday at 1 p.m. In most of the 4A/5A games, the two schools can reach an agreement that both can live with...which is why most games are on Friday.

The 2A/3A schools have a more troubling time. Since they are located hundreds of miles apart, the Saturday time is usually agreed on. Having the game at 7 pm makes it difficult for the visiting team to get back at a decent hour. Many of these matchups are with teams who would normally not make such a long trip.
Alta Fan | 5:27 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
No Cottonwood does not have a shot against Alta. Alta blew them out already this year, nothing would indicate that would be any different.

5A is an Alta vs. Bingham battle. Was 2 years ago, was last year, is this year. Will be next year. that is just how it is.
Dixie vs. Bonneville | 5:43 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Comparing teams from common opponents isn't always exactly accurate but from who Bonneville and Dixie have played it should be a good game.
Bonneville 21 Sky View 18
Sky View 14 Springville 35
Springville 21 Dixie 14

If you check the game recap for the Dixie vs. Springville Game both teams' yards were almost identical. Springville made one extra passing touchdown. Earlier in the year, Dixie struggled scoring in the second half. Recently, they have scored at will in the second half, and have even had to shut down the offense early vs. PV and Mtn. View. I don't doubt Bonneville's D is great, the beat Bountiful, but I don't think they've seen as good a QB as Michael Sharp. With many weapons throwing and passing, Dixie's Offense and Defense has gotten better each week. My prediction, Dixie 21 Bonneville 14
PG | 6:14 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
I'd love to see PG make it all the way and have a rematch with LP and maybe Alta (if they could pull a win against Bingham), but the Vikings have seemed a little off for the past few weeks (I left the last game early-heard they did awesome after the half) Hopefully they can pull it together for Davis!
CWOOD | 6:25 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Actually, CWOOD does has a chance (although a very small one) at beating Alta. They have gotten much better since that first game, and on a good night, they can play with anybody. They completely outplayed Bingham for 3 quarters but unfortunately had one blow up quarter that took away their chance at a win. Alta definitely has the advantage in this one but you can't say CWood has no chance. Hopefully they'll make something happen. GO COLTS!!!!
Re:man.. Alta  | 6:44 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Your hurt (best player in the state?) He might be the best player on your team, but that is a maybe, but not the best in the state at all. You are such a homer. Here it goes again PG. Best in the History, or I like this one. Best QB ever. Really? Or how about "The best team the state has ever seen!" Have you not finally realized your QB hasn't done anything? Your team Finished 3rd in region 4? You need to finally be honest with yourself and man up to the truth. That kid from Jordan High is on a completely different level than your QB. Trust us we all know, we just faced him!

Miners all the way!

Chance! | 6:55 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Everyone still playing has a chance!!! I don't care if you're playing the best team in the state or a number 2 seed. On any given day any team could beat the other team, that's why we play the game!
The Expert | 7:24 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
In 5-A:

Bingham's offense vs. Syracuse defense but the Miners have a bit too much talent this year. Bingham 35 Syracuse 10

Lone Peak has great pass defense, Hunter has a great ground game. Hunter must be able to throw the ball. Lone Peak has been dubbed by many as chokers but if they get past the first round they actually go pretty far. Lone Peak 28 Hunter 14.

Pleasant Grove @ Davis: This could be a great battle. On paper PG should win as they have more talent and beat Brighton who beat Davis handily. I don't see things being that easy, could be the best 5-A game. Pleasant Grove 21 Davis 17.

The rematch: Well it should be closer for the Colts but not close enough. Alta 35 Cottonwood 27.

re man...Alta | 7:25 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Umm....Pg does have the best QB in the State. Others are good-but he is on a different level. No I am not a PG parent or alumn. My boy played on the other Utah team that went to Las Vegas and represented Utah. Peck and Timpviews Coach took the #1 team. It was QB'd by Loyd and Hart. Both great-thats why they went all the way to the finals, but everyone there knew Loyd was a lot better. He and Heaps were the 2 Qb's on the All Tournament Team.

Now that was 6 months ago, and I havent seen a ton of either of them. But it is funny how Jordan fans are acting so funny and try to pump thier QB up. Give it a rest. The Pg kid is like 20-1 as a starter. Talking to people, he didnt play the LP game or Alta game because of a torn shoulder or they wouldnt have finished first.

Quit being a poser and trying to make HS kids arguments. Jordan is done and was barely .500. Stay off the boards since you are out.
re: Cottonwood | 7:38 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Cottonwood "hung with" but did not outplay Bingham in the first half. Bingham took clear control in the third quarter and turned it over to the JV team in the fourth where CW promptly got half of its points.

I don't disagree with your take on Cottonwood's chances with Alta; just your interpretation of Cottonwood's performance against Bingham.
The Expert | 7:44 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
In 4-A:

Timpview has good offense, defense and special teams while Spanish Fork is way lacking in the latter two. Timpview 49 Spanish Fork 28.

Highland is looking forward to this rematch. Like Cottonwood Highland is hoping to close the gap and being at home should help. But Mountain Crest is talented and probably has too many weapons. Highland beat Orem 34-0, Mountain Crest beat Salem Hills 55-6. Salem Hills beat Orem. But most importantly Mountain Crest beat Highland in Week One. Mountain Crest 42 Highland 21.

Woods Cross beat Provo but the Wildcats will find out fast that Springville is no Provo. Springville 34 Woods Cross 21.

Bonneville wins this game on a neutral field or at home, but playing in St. George where travel fatigue and weird officiating will work against the Lakers, the Flyers survive a close one. Dixie 17 Bonneville 16.
We all know why | 7:49 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
everyone hates Alta, they are still the team to beat! Sure they had a couple losses in the season, but everyone did. Until there is a team good enough to knock them out of the playoff race, everyone will hate Alta's guts. Trust me, us Alta guys love being the team everyone hates. It gives them motivation, so hate all you can.
The Expert | 7:53 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
In 4-A:

Timpview 49 Spanish Fork 28
Mountain Crest 42 Highland 21
Springville 34 Woods Cross 21
Dixie 17 Bonneville 16
Observation | 8:54 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Everyone is saying it is Bingham's #1 offense against Syracuse's #1 defense. As I see it those 2 may cancel each other out. BUT Bingham's defense is ranked much higher than Syracuse's offense and that will be the difference. Bingham will not put up 60+ again but Syracuse will struggle to score at all. I think 35-10 is a pretty good call
Error to The Expert | 10:04 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
even experts makes errors which you have done for the game between Bonneville and Dixie
Bonneville wins 28 to Dixie 6
do some more reseach on the two teams which ive have done and Lakers should put up 28 points on your Dixie Boyz.
COTTONWOOD COLTS | 10:35 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
I would love to see Cottonwood beat Alta! However, the post that says that Cottonwood "outplayed" Bingham through 3 quarters is ridiculous!!! First of all, it is completely untrue. They stayed in the game for 3 quarters and got blown out in the end. Besides, no one ever won a football game in 3 quarters.. If it only took 3 quarters, Bingham would have been state champs last year..
highland hater | 10:35 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
it pains me to say this, but highland is the team to beat. now i need to shower.
