This is the roughest coaching I have seen from LP. They will struggle at state.

They may get bounced first round.

What does this mean?

Are the coaches physically beating up the girls?

Are the coaches rough looking?

Are the girls not responding to the coaching?

Or does it mean?

I am a disgruntled parent.

Maybe the team isn't as good as it has been in past years but it isn't the talent (in my opinion) so I want to blame the coaches.

I want to cause some issues before the state tournament and cause dissension within the program.

Though the head coach has won four state titles in six years that they don't know what they are doing because I'm smarter.

Just curious, maybe you expand upon your comment. It has me perplexed.

I took "LP"s comment to mean "LP is having a rough time this year". I'm pretty sure they didn't mean the coaches are beating up the girls, or that the coaches are rough looking, or that the girls aren't responding to the coaching and I can't even begin to figure out how you would be perplexed by the comment and make such a big deal out of it.

I actually think Lone Peak has a great team. They may not have a bunch of huge players like PG, but they play hard, and many times that is what will win games. As for the coaching, I have watched their coaches this year, and for the past several years and I think they are good coaches. The girls love them, and they too work hard for their team. My daughter doesn't play at LP, but I wouldn't hesitate to have her play for anyone of those coaches.

The last time that Pleasant Grove lost a set was against the Brighton Bengals back in september. Clearly we are number two in the state and we will get two the title game this year.

If you look at the bracket for 5A...it's BRUTAL...there are potential top 4 matchups in the first round...I mean come on...Taylorsville vs. Lone Peak in the first round? WOW! As for the predictions made by an earlier person...I would disagree on how many 3-0 matches you have. I wouldn't be surprised if only 1 or 2 matches in the whole bracket went 3 and out. 5A should be VERY exciting this year...while 4A on the other hand...BOOOORRRRRINNNNNGGGGG!!!!

I like the predictions but where is the upset. Brighton, T-ville, LP and Hunter all can make it to the title match. On the other side PG is the heavy favorite although if I had to pick a team for the upset that would be Bingham. They have the athletes to compete with anybody and If PG has a weakness it is serve receive and Bingham has some girls who can really serve. I don't want to see a LPvsPG final although if I was a betting man that will be the final match again.

Don't count Syracuse out yet as an upset against Cottonwood. Syracuse beat both Northridge and Layton. Im not saying they will beat Cottonwood, I don't know much about volleyball, but they could do it.

LP.. everyone has their opinion.. her's (or his) may be the coaches are too tough (rough) on the kids because of a down season.. the coaches do change when the going gets tougher (rough).. these coaches are teachers and coach part time and it sometimes goes to their heads... I'm the "Coach".. way over rated.. 10 weeks coaching doesn't make a coach, but if they aren't careful they can adversely affect a young ladies life.. we have some very poor coaches out there and they need to be watched.. high school sports is so political and it may not be the best players on the floor at all... we need a way of rating them and allowing the parents to give feedback along with other coaches and the administrations.. the administration alone will always cover the coach and stick together.. Layton high is a good example of the administration and coaches covering one another's backs.. they were winning early on because talent will win early on, but in the second round, the better coached teams started winning over the more talented teams. Good coaches know this.

LP has Rough Coaching this year??? Try losing three 1st Team all staters, including 5A MVP setter, and State Tournament MVP Libero, from 2008 State Champion team and then competing again at the highest level. LP is on a role, winning 8 straight matches, including Brighton. Just like last year, they are peaking at the right time thanks to tremendous coaching!!! You don't make the championship game 6 straight years, winning 4 with coaches that don't know what they are doing. Go LP!

nice blog.. good points, a well coached team wins at the end of the season when it counts… they prepare and peak at the right time. They rebound from the loss of good players through graduation or through injuries.. sounds like to me they are doing a great job.. good dipstick for determining if other coaches are doing a good job. So, if your team was wining early in the season and struggling toward the end it all about coaching, poor coaching. My money is now on LP… or maybe PG.. I will say Layton has the best returning talent in the state, but absolutely no coaching so they are one and done, or in the double elimination format, two and done..

The past 2 seasons Bingham should have made it to the finals and possible taken state, however they never will with their coach. The Miners win purely on talent and wont make it to the top unless they get a coach that knows what they are doing....Time for a change
