High school football: 1st round of playoffs great time of season

The Braves were ranked No. 1 in 4A for a few weeks during the regular season but couldn't muster enough offense to defeat a Lakers team that's been herky-jerky.

But the Lakers "D" has givin up only 12 points avg against 4a teams

Mt.C #1 4a team could only put up 16 on them

No bonneville would of still been in the playoffs even with a loss to logan, they just would of been third!

Morgan tourched Miners??? Yep morgan had some skills but he tourched #16 of Bingham. The talented DB's from Bingham had their hands full with Hammond and Hart. Once a change was made in the mid 4th quarter, Morgan was held to meaningless touches. Bingham needs to make a change in that secondary or find a way to clone McCrae, Anderson, or Peck. They need one more....try Smith.

Yes, this is a feel good article about no one knew what to expect in the 1st round. I think this was the most predictable year in a long time. I entered the grid picks contest and have I only missed two games so far. I picked Bountiful to win and I picked Skyline to win. Going in those were two games that I debated on who would win. Looking back, I think I would still have picked Bountiful, I think that was an upset. I should have picked Syracuse, they are the better team. I was reaching for a possible upset with that pick. 3A was the most predictable. Every 1st round game was a blowout. 2A was also easy. Kanab almost got San Juan. The Desnews, didn't even have a contest, because everybody knows what will happen. Rich will beat Altamont by about 45 and Duchesne will beat Monticello by about 20, Then Rich will beat Duchesne by about 30 in the Finals. This is the most predicatable year I can remember in the last 25 years. And yes, I have been following high school football at least that long.

The Morgan-Emery game was a very good game. Emery had a 13-12 lead at halftime and trailed 24-19 with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Most predicted a blow-out win for Morgan. Emery started 7 or 8 juniors this year and should be one of Region 12's top teams next year.

True #16 isnt the prime DB to guard Morgan in that game, but I would love to see you go watch that game film... In the 4th quarter, when #16 moved over to guard the injured Hunt, Braden Anderson moved over to guard Morgan. Morgan still had 3 catches on Anderson. One, Anderson got called for the pass interference and Morgan still caught it. Morgan's 2nd touchdown was when they had the free safty helpin Coon out and he still went up and made the play. Morgan is no Hammond or Hunt (even if he is injured) but the kid had a great game. You cant take that away from him.
