I can think of one. It has to do with moving horse manure out of the stall using your cowboy boots.

Nobody likes the old-school country music anymore and George needs to get over the fact that the new country music is better and more popular.
My two cents | 2:30 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
The wonderful thing about music is it evolves. JS Bach might have turned up his nose at the works of Debussy, too, but they are both classical composers to me. I would have never listened to the type of music George Jones made had it not been for other artists who "put some drive in their Country" (to quote Travis Tritt) and made it more appealing to the up-and-coming generation. Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood have a much broader appeal than the likes of Alan Jackson (one of the dullest lyricists in country music --- the "Little Bitty" song anyone?). Thank goodness the recording industry is never stagnant!

George, you are sooooo right! Whatever it is they're playin' on country stations now, it ain't country music. Sad, sad, sad.

It isn't country music either. It's a form of southern rock that isn't as good as the Outlaws or Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Unfortunately for TRADITIONAL country music, George's comments are right. The "country" music on the radio today is what I would call the pop music of the 80's with a violin every now and again. The song "Murder on music row" depicts exactly what has happened to the genre. I know folks will say that it has become "popular" now and they wouldn't have listened to it had it remained true to itself. They may be right, but all that means is that country music has sold itself out. Thanks to satellite radio and other venues that can play different types of music, there was no need to sell out. Traditional country would have always had a following, albeit not as large as everyone who is currently jumping on the bandwagon, had they not chosen to change. It does bother me to sit and watch the CMA awards and see the grungy artists who are being played on the radio today sitting there next to class acts who at least still wear traditional country attire. (The cowboy hat anyone?) I am saddened to see real country overshadowed by the sell-out country music that is being played today.

This is why our family listens to Country Legends, most of the traditional songs and singers are there. We don't mind some of the new stuff, we just like the old stuff better.

I'm not much of a country fan, but have enjoyed some of the great talents of traditional country music with distinctive sounds. Today's hybrid sound very similar to each other and I would probably say they would come across as pop music with a twang.

I agree with George Jones the New Country Music now a days is Pop music. Now Jamey Johnson's new song (In Color) which won song of the year. That's Country like it should be done!
