Airlines ratchet up holiday surcharges

These airline fees are out of hand. It's why I seek out the two airlines that don't charge for checking a bag. I'll be checking this holiday for an airline that doesn't have a holiday surcharge.

If the airlines continue to pile on the surcharges, it will be a lot less expensive to drive to your destination, if possible. The two things that you would need to plan for are the additional time involved to drive, and the weather. The latter could also foul up your flying plans.

It appears to me that the airlines are trying really hard to alienate their clientele.
