"It didn't make sense on a lot of levels for Utah to replace season-long starter Terrance Cain with untested true freshman Jordan Wynn ..."

That's why Whittingham is the coach and the rest of us are in the backseat.

I preferred Wynn over Cain even before the season started. But in hindsight, the extra few weeks of preparation I'm certain have helped Jordan a lot.

No disrespect to Terrance but my guess is Wynn has just won the starting quarterback position.

If you don't start him the rest of the season you have burned a red-shirt year for a game against Wyoming. Cain, get ready to be a back-up or move to a skill position.

Go UTES!!

You liked Wynn over Cain before the season started? Based on what? Practice? Scrimmages?

That's a pretty silly statement. Be smarter.

There is more to the difference than the passing stats - under Wynn in the second half, the team was playing with more urgency and excitement. It seems that the play clocck never got below 9 seconds or so and with Cain the play clock was always ready to expire. For a true freshman in his first game Wynn seemed to go thorugh his reads wth confidence. I guess we'll see what happens - Coach Whit will place the QB out there with the best chance for the team to win.

Don't want to be difficult here--but....

The Utes always seem to play with more urgency and excitement in the second half than in the first. Maybe Coach Whit could give his half-time speech before the game starts?

Nobody can argue with the win yesterday, but....

Wynn threw a couple of passes that could easily have been intercepted and such interceptions would likely have meant a different outcome for the game.

I think the the whole offense needs to attend sports psychology classes or something. Ill-timed mistakes and penalties are the key problem.

Love the Utes. Love that they know how to win. Love the effort. Love the defense. But,...

They have one more week to figure things out, I'm afraid. Last's nights effort, probably less, will beat NM. Chance of winning in Ft. Worth or Provo for that matter aren't very high if the offense can't match the defense's execution.

Also, I hope Cain's confidence is OK. He really didn't do anything last night worthy of being replaced at half-time.

Anyone who says Wynn's composure and leadership was better than Cain's doesn't have a clue about football. Whit made a HUGE mistake, regardless of the outcome. What a WASTE!

The Ute's win last night had nothing to do with Jordan Wynn. It was a rash decision by the coaching staff. By everyone's logic, it would have been a good choice to play Louks in the 2nd halves of last years games against OSU and TCU. Possibly Air Force as well.

You can't put it all on the QB - especially when, like last night, that QB throws 10/13 for 121 yards and no turnovers. Cain had nowhere near the field position Wynn had. The O-coordinator couldn't construct a productive series to save his life and only really improved in the 2nd half. Beadles and Bergstrom on the O-line couldn't block worth crap most of the game. Eddie Wide had nowhere to run until really the 2nd half spark - a spark that had nothing to do with Jordan Wynn. Wynn squandered several red zone opportunities and should have been picked off a number of times.

WASTE!

...and I'm sure you are well qualified to argue these salient points with confidence and assurity. Hard to argue with a group of coaches who have lost only one game in two years! Why don't you offer your services to these numskulls who are such a "WASTE". Everyone except you apparently seems to understand that Wynn brought new energy to the field as well as leadership. No, perhaps he didn't make that much of a difference in the stats, but the whole offense came alive and, more importantly, they were able to score points...something that the offense has not been able to do regularly for some time. Too bad the coaches "rash" decision brought the Utes yet another win...7-1...not bad. Go find something useful to do and quit WASTING good space.
