Go with Wynn | 11:25 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Cain's stats look good but that's about it. We need somebody that will spread the ball around, make better reads, and stretch the defense with the long ball.
Mike Johnson Fallon NV | 11:46 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
We already knew Utah had two pretty good quarterbacks. The question was whether Wynn was going to be able to redshirt or not. The answer now is not.

With the exception of the touchdown pass, Cain had better numbers than Wynn, going 10 for 13 for 121 yards, while Wynn went 9 for 14 for 82 (and of course the touchdown).

The biggest difference between the 1st and 2nd half for the Utes had nothing to do with the offense. All 5 Utah 1st half drives started inside the Utah 20 (15, 10, 19, 3, and 9). All 6 2nd half drives started outside the 20 (30, 30, 48, 45, 49, and the Wyoming 9).

In contrast, Wyoming started on the 36, 26, 20, Utah 44, and 34 in the first half. In the 2nd half, Wyoming started on the 20, 20, 20, 11, 20, 16, and 20.

Utah got into Wyoming territory on 8 of 11 drives. Wyoming got into Utah territory on 3 of 12 drives (including the TD drive that started in Utah territory).

Utah's 5 1st half drives averaged 32.2 yards while the 6 2nd half drives averaged 32 yards.
Use em all | 1:38 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Now that we know we have 3 good QB's, we should use all of them. That would give us more options and keep other teams guessing. I was liking the new plays I saw from the offense. It was a great game. Go Utes !!!

I don't know much about football but didn't Utah waist a year of Wynn's eligibility -it's the red shirt issue.

Rock Monster -- Where were you looking to see several thousand seats un-filled? Several hundred yes. Several thousand? Didn't see it from where I sat.
So... | 8:42 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009

may be Utah had been implementing plan B all along --but that is ok since it still produced a respectable 6-1 record while the real "plan A" QB has been studying offense, ridding of freshman nervousness, etc

And now...it's time to implement the real "plan A" --ie plan B for the confused, simple minds out there.

Whatever it is called...Just Wynn, baby!!!

Wynn looks more confident and throws a better ball.

What's going to happen when these yawners take on TCU? The game was boring, to say the least. Nothing exciting about blundering inside the "red zone" and all of the idiotic penalties. No, these yawners aren't great. They are a decent team but they are not dominate as they should be.
LaVar the Utah Cat | 9:43 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Good for Wynn. Cain, while compiling decent statistics, never seemed to lead the team. Wynn appeared to display confidence and leadership. Intangibles are important in molding a team. Emotion in college athletics is crucial (although Bronco would deny it)and Wynn has it and Cain does not.

The Utes just wish they had Jake Heaps He's going to destroy Utah next year and take BYU to the BCS.

"The least convincing 7-1 team in the country."

Umm, the Pokes were 0-10 getting first downs in the second half at one point. The Utes outscored them 19-0 in the second half. Whitt tossed an untested QB in there and he helped win the game. Is there anyone out there who is saying, "Oh they're so lucky, they should really be 4-4 at this point." Nobody who knows anything is saying that.

I was convinced the entire second half. I thought to myself, "This defense is not going to allow us to lose." Now, I agree that our offense hasn't come of age and we will have better days, but I knew that when we lost our starting qb. It tends to work that way.

Give them their due. This is a darn good team.

Say what you will, the Yewt offense is anemic with either qb. What is going to happen when they play a team that does not give the game to the Yewts by making mistakes? Answer: UNLV made it into TCU's half of the field one time, to the 47 yard line. That is one more time than the Yewt offense will have.
BYU ranked again! | 11:49 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Believe it or not, BYU is ranked #25 in the USA today poll. Can we schedule more byes?
AP ranks us too! | 12:53 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
#25 in the AP poll! Can the BCS be far behind? We definitely need more byes.

Not playing is our Plan B.

ya i was at the game and the stadium was mainly full there was a couple hundred missing not a couple thousand, its hard to get a packed house on halloween night when there is so much going on but it was a good fun game with a good atmosphere.
Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc | 4:12 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
"It happened therefore because." Just because Wynn played in the 2nd doesn't mean he made any positive contribution.

Jordan Wynn was irrelevant & the coaching staff made a huge mistake.

1. It was an unnecessary waste of Wynn's red shirt year. He did no better than Caine. Worse, Wynn was largely ineffective, squandering at least three red zone opportunities and narrowly avoiding a pic. Caine never had as fortunate of field position as Wynn. Anyone who thought he looked more comfortable than Caine doesn't understand football.

2. You don't do that to your O-general unless something is going terribly wrong. How can you say 10/13 & 121 yards (w/o turnovers) was reason to pull him? Whittingham revealed his lack of confidence in Caine - which will create problems in the future.

Why play was better in the 2nd:

Most of Wide's rushing came in the 2nd half.
The line blocked better on O.
The O Coordinator called better plays in the 2nd. The D stepped up in the 2nd, giving the O better position.
None of this has anything to do with Wynn.

Really? Next year? So does this mean another ybu fan has given up on his season. I thought max hall was suppose to be a heisman hopefull? He might be 3rd team MWC. Right behnd Dalton, and Lindley. The change of personal on the feild and in the booth will be good for utah. The defense played as well as they have all season. New Mexico will be a great game to tune up Wynn. Maybe try some diffrent personal groupings to get ready for Tcu. They are the going to be the most difficult opponent left on our schedule. Go Utes
red zone cramps | 4:22 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Is Ludwig moonlighting calling red zone plays for the Utes? I don't understand why they start going to tight formations with the QB under center once they get close. We don't have a power running game now, so why make things easier on the defense??? Have some creativity......
Two Shoes | 6:49 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
So Wynn's redshirt year is burned .... and this late in the season the Utes have created a q-back controversy. I'm trying to wrap my mind around that.
Ludwig? | 6:51 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Ludwig isn't with the Utes anymore. He isn't calling the plays. I can't remember where he went but I'm pretty sure he's somewhere in the PAC 10. I don't mind bunching it up down on the goal line if you do a roll out pass with your tight ends or a sweep or something (using your speed to beat the defenders to the corner of the goal line while they all bunched inside as well). But if you are going to bunch it up, go outside not inside. If you want to do an inside run, spread the defense out and then run it up the middle. But I am excited about the Utes offense, Jordan Wynn is legit and can throw the ball decisively and accurately. It would be ridiculous not to start him against an 0-8 team. Let his confidence build and our offense get going before the showdown at TCU. Go Utes!
Agree... | 8:25 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009

that BYU should implement Plan B.
Plan A (ie Maxi) has not been consistently producing big wins.
Bronco, if you want to keep your job, put in plan B.
JB | 9:00 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
All the talk about wasting a red-shirt year is funny. If I'm correct, Wynn still has his red-shirt available which can be used another year (next year) if needed. Wynn seemed to read the defense a little bit better, give him a little more time and he could be pretty good but time will tell.
Anonymous | 10:04 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Wynn better make HUGE strides the next two weeks in practice and against new mexico, or tcu is going to eat him alive. I have faith in him though, no better conditions to warm up than against a winless team at home.
Utah Man | 9:08 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Poor Zoobs....Plan B, Plan A whatever your plan it doesn't work in the big games or just the games that count!! So while you keep predicting a TCU win which means you suffer an inferiority complex @ the hands of TCU, the Utes will go about doing what they do. Oh by the way...if the Utes do beat TCU?? You should be scared, very, very SCARED!!!!
