Once again, the Utes scrape by against a mediocre team. Once again, their victory is made possible by their opponent's 4th-quarter mistakes.

And once again, their fans take the wrong message from it. It would also appear the players and media did too.

Look, struggling to come from behind and beat teams like Colorado State and Wyoming (both of which have had trouble holding leads this season) is not a sign of strength it's a sign the Utes have serious weaknesses, weaknesses that will get badly exposed against tougher competition.

TCU isn't going to let your offense sleepwalk through the first 3 quarters and then turn it on in the fourth quarter, and their offense isn't going to implode in the second half, either.

This year's Utes kinda remind me of last year's Cougars. After BYU pitched back-to-back blowout shutouts against UCLA and Wyoming everyone assumed the Cougars were unbeatable; close wins over Washington and Colorado State and UNLV were signs of strength, not weakness.

It wasn't until they got blasted by TCU that the weaknesses became obvious. The Utes will find that out in two weeks.

UTAH defence was "scary" bad until the second half. Good thing Utah got into the move like the way they did and shut the cowboys down.

I don't care if the Utes beat every team by 1 point, they are still winning games. And I can guarantee they won't lose by 31 to TCU. It's a toss up game in my opinion, but at least Utah has some speed on defense. (thats right, i'm talking about BYU's corners)

the u wins and that is all that matters. all big games are won by defense. defense is what the u hangs their hats on every season. no matter who you are defense provides the chance for the team to win in the end. case in point, the oregon team that just destroyed usc barely beat utah. unfortunately, teams that take the o first approach will never win big games. that applies to all sports.
