I played under a number of coaches. Coach Mitchell shines brighter than the rest for his ability to create unity and a sense to sacrifice ones own interests for the good of the team.

Great job Coach!

Great article.

Alta is very lucky to have such a coach..Even though the girls won 4 straight titles each team was completely different, he managed to coach each team to a title. Great job coach!.

Club soccer in the Sandy area have been the best in the state for years - thus the Sandy schools have many of the state's best players. I think Coach Mitchell is alot like Phil Jackson - currently the Lakers basketball coach & previously the Bull coach - both have the best players, but they do a good job unifying the best players. Other coaches have to compete with lesser players and need to over achieve to compete. Alta doesn't need to over achieve, they just need to play up to their talent level. I don't want to diminish what Coach Mitchell has accomplished, which usually exceeds the other Sandy high school coaches, but he does benefit by the excellent clubs in Alta's area.

Nice job coach..Alta has had some great players but so has Brighton, Davis, Timp, the Lone Peak team in 2006 was one of the best ever in the state. Alta has had talent but so has many other teams. To win 4 in a row takes a great coach with a group of players that has bought into the system. The hardest part would be to keep these players hungry and coach Mitchell has found a way to do that.

I took a camp from him years ago & I could tell he was a good coach and a great man. He helped me with the skills to to be a good goalie and to enjoy the game to want continue to improve.

Coach Mitchell has coached some of the greatest, offensive and defensive players in the state. What great memories he must have, and what great memories those players must have. Whatever you want to say about Lee Mitchell, he wins!.

Lee Mitchell is very unassuming, but he is also the most intense competitor in any sport you'll ever want to meet. He will do anything he can to beat you, but he will do it with total class. His extraordinary success is a great tribute to a man of genuine integrity. He makes Utah a better place to live.

Congratulations, Lee.

He can be very hard on referees, though. He is so consumed by winning that he argues every call and harangues the officials constantly.

Coach Mitchell is by far the greatest coach I have EVER had! Not only does he have class and desire to win...but he teaches the players to have fun and to go out and play! Win or lose all the players have a TON of great memories playing at Alta! Congrats coach on another fabulous year!

Alta coach Lee Mitchell finds himself in a familiar position as he gets doused by his team after leading the Hawks to a third straight state title by defeating Brighton in the 5A championship game. It was the 11th state title for Mitchell.
