Well done Panguitch. It was obvious that you were the most solid team this year, and deserved the victory. You had the most talent, and also probably worked harder than any other team. Kudos!

Good job Panguitch :) "Team" work will always prevail in the end!!!

Great job Coach Norris. It was nice that you acknowledged Coach Stuart and Rich in your other articles and how she changed the face and expectations of 1A volleyball to make it the best in the state. I love how you also said "what is she doing and we can do the same theing". I think Duchesne and Piute is also doing that. 1A ball will be a step up from now on. Coach Norris is a good leader and it was obvious at the games. Thanks for making 1A ball better than ever to you and Piute. Great games, and great compitition! Can anyone out there beleive that Morgan got beat? Wow! Surprising

Good Job Girls!!!! I love you all and im so proud of you! I miss you all so much and am so happy you had such an amazing year! Next year now??? MAKE IT A REPEAT! Coach Norris there is no other coach out there like you! You make PHS proud! LOVE YA
Region 20 | 4:17 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Guess it's not Region 15/20 that is dominating this year! It's Panguitch and Piute!!! State Champs and State Runner-ups in Volleyball and Baseball, State Champs in Cross Country! It would have been nice if we could have pulled out a second place in XC!
Peter King - Sunday Night Setter | 7:22 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Hey, Congratulations to Coach Norris and the Lady Cats. What a fantastic year you had. You are very deserving state champs. Not losing one game in a field that we once thought had some parity was just amazing.
And Congrats. to the Thunderbirds too. It is my opinion that you girls are the best volleyball team to ever grace uniforms at Piute High. Seniors, we will miss you. Good luck in basketball. Something tells me Piute and Panguitch will meet for the girls' basketball title too.
For now chill for a week, let your bodies rest, and just know how much we the fans appreciated a great season from all of the girls who make the sacrifices to play volleyball.
Duchesne Player | 10:35 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Congrats to both Panguitch and Piute! Both played great at the tournament and I was impressed. Definitely was a very competitive year and basketball should be good too. See ya both at the preview!

I would like to add a special thanks to Coach Norris and Coach Norris. They have done an amazing job this year. I have notice a big inprovement on keeping the team possitive. Thanks! What a great season.
Mom Cooper | 8:57 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Congratulations to the Bobcat team and coaches. These girls did well because they LOVE playing volleyball and put their all into the sport. A great season, a great state tournament and AWESOME girls. What a fun week-end. - Congratulations to Coach Allen and the Piute T-Birds. Some awesome players and sweet girls on that team, as well.

dang i would have much rather of seen piute take state then panguitch.. piute supports us and gives us good intense games.. my hats off to you ladies when you cheered for us last year when we played panguitch for the state title in basketball..
Anonymous | 9:59 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Congrats girls! you guys are awesome
Re: rich GBB player | 10:47 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
I am glad that you wanted Piute to win. The fact is that they didn't and Piute might give you more intense games. I am sorry that Panguitch did not make an intense game for you by beating you in 3 straight games. It was too easy.
Anonymous | 12:45 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
I dont understand why rich hates us... we have never done anything to you guys at all...The reason we never support you is because most of the time we are playing against you!
Eastern granny | 12:47 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
To Panguitch Girls VB team - Was fun watching your team beat everyone at the State Tourney. They did an awesome job - just wished more of your bench would have had an opportunity to play also- you have many talented girls on your team. Congratulations!!!
Milford Fan | 1:31 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
You have to admit that Panguitch has good coaches. They have won several Baseball titles in the past few years and now a couple of Volleyball titles and who knows how many basketball titles so kudos to their high school and coaches and fans and student body who must be very dedicated.
Re: Eastern Granny | 1:34 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
You enjoyed watching the Bobcats win, but you wanted to see more girls play? You can't have it both ways Granny!!!! Win or let everyone play, which do you want?
Anonymous | 1:52 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
I think we have our proof that region 15/20 will always be the best no matter what year it is because we have some of the best athletes around. It's funny that every year we have the most teams place at state so we are the dominate region.
Anonymous | 2:32 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
boo panguitch
Rebel  | 2:40 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Congrats to Panguitch you guys played wonderful and deserved to take state this year. Rebel girls you played great and we'll work harder next year, so keep your heads up! Love you senior girls too!!

Teams | 2:52 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Congratulations to all the teams at state! Panguitch you did have a good team this year. Great job on your sucess! To piute...would have loved to see this group of ladies win it, it just didn't go that way. Panguitch... you are not dominate so quit saying you are. You won it twice thats great but wait till you have won 16 or 17 titles in volleyball like Rich has, then you can say you are dominate. Every year its a new group of kids. Rich might have been down a little this year but we have to remember they had a new coach as well. She has a lot to learn to be where coach Stuart was but dont count them out because they will be back on top even if they have to bring Stuart back. Wow!!! That would be AWESOME!!!!! Thanks to coach Norris. You are giving Rich A great compliment because you are following in coach Stuart footsteps wanting your program likr theres. Thats Great. Thankyou so much!!

Congratulations Lady Bobcats, you are awesome! What a great year. Congrats to Coaches Troy and Ann Marie.
Good job Piute! 1A sports are the best and we have the best fans!
Rich fan | 6:47 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
I'm embarrassed to read some of these comments. No one can take away what Rich has done in the past. But we cheapen those past victories by being poor sports when somebody else wins. I think we should all go back to pre-school and learn some manners. Congratulations Panguitch.
Re: Rebel fan | 7:03 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
I agree! We need to stop living in the past, congratulate those who beat us for being better, and just work harder for the next time. Panguitch good job this year.

Panguitch to 2A????? | 7:30 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Sorry to whomever posted this comment but you might want to do your reasearch first. Panguitch High School only has about 100 students. There is no way we would be able to go to 2A. Just because we are good in most sports doesn't mean we need to move up. We also have our off years so I believe it is fair. So check facts before you post.
RE:Panguitch to 2A | 7:53 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Already sounds like some jealousy!!!
Re: Panguitch to 2A | 8:07 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Based on what? Panguitch dosen't even factor in the top 10 when looking at enrollment numbers for 1A. I have heard that many small schools in 1A want the cutoff to be at 100 for 2A. That would be great for Panguitch, with only 91 students they would then be the biggest 1A left. Think & do a little research before you start writing comments you know nothing about.
RICH | 8:59 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
congratulations to panguitch! you did a great job and you have a very good team. It was some very good compitition this year!!! I also want to congraduate the senior girls at RICH...Cassy, Ashley ,Maud and Shantae. You ladies did wonderful. You had a rough start and up and down season but you came together. Shantae- hats off to you for kepping the team possitive and really stepping it up. You fought hard. Great job to Cassy and Shantae for always playing level headed. Third place still isn't bad. We love watching you girls. Thanks for a wonderful year and we will truely miss you! To the under classmen- courtney, cassidy and nicole. you ladies also played great. Keep up the good work and lets bring it hard next year. Love you guys! LADY REBELS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1a enrollments | 9:11 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
According to high-schools.com here are some enrollment numbers for 1a schools:
Altamont High School Total Enrollment: 225
Milford High School Total Enrollment: 200
Rich High School Total Enrollment: 153
Wayne High School Total Enrollment: 146
Bryce Valley High School Total Enrollment: 142
Piute High School Total Enrollment: 140
Panguitch High School Total Enrollment: 130
I couldn't find out when these enrollments were taken, but I don't imagine they are too far off. And it doesn't say if this is 7-12 or 9-12.
Interesting though.
1A Enrollments | 10:06 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Actually, the numbers that you quote are off. High-schools.com gives enrollment based on school size regardless of how many classes are in that school. For instance, Bryce Valley High and Piute High are both 7-12 so they show a bigger enrollment than Panguitch which is 9-12. UHSAA classifies schools based on grades 10-12. If you go by the numbers they have published this year, the top 10 1A schools would be:

1. Wasatch Academy (197)
2. Duchesne (157)
2. Whitehorse (157)
4. Monticello (153)
5. St. Joseph (138)
6. Monument Valley (115)
7. Altamont (112)
8. Wayne (109)
9. Oakely (100)
10. Rich (94)

Panguitch would be 11th on this list with 91
Enrollments | 10:09 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Rich is around 130 so you know. Not arguing, just throwing that out there.
Raider  | 1:54 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Congradulations panguitch i am so happy that you guys took state. I really wanted you guys to take state instead of pie ute. They just know how to talk instead of show. Again congrats!!!!!!!
Anonymous | 9:17 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
It took a bit more than talk to get to the championship game. Congrats to both Panguitch and Piute. Two fantastic teams. By the way, where did the Raiders end up?
pffft...region 20 dominates?  | 3:52 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
It's funny how you think you dominate--region 16 had teams in the top 4 and does every year (Rich is a testament to that). Besides that to dominate 1A sports you actually have to play them...where are panguitch and piute's football teams?
Scott | 4:32 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Here is hoping for basketball success for the Bobcats. I am proud to have Coach Curtis Barney as a good friend. Hope you can lead your young ladies to another title. Your daughters are lucky to have had you as their coach. Scott from West Valley City.
