I am so proud of you Jordan for not giving up. What an amazing finish to an amazing season. I'm sure Peck is very happy the 3 H's are done and Stevie. What a offensive threat they all are. I didn't think it was possible for a high school QB to throw for over 300 yards in every single game. What an amazing run Hart and company had. This offense will be remembered for many years to come. Open the record books for these kids. If only we had a defense. Bingham, hats off to you. No excuses from the Diggers, you won fair and square. You guys are amazing as well. I will be rooting for you and the hawks the rest of the way.

Great season Diggers!

Wow, what a game. Jordan showed a lot of heart and never gave up. If they hadn't have spotted Bingham a 21 point first quarter lead, it might have been a different game. This is the first time I've seen Bingham and they've got some real horses on their team. I'm not sure how to judge their defense and that's indicative of the scoring. Well there will be a great match up next week vs Syracuse. It will be Bingham's #1 offense against Syracuse's #1 defense. What I know about Syracuse is that they have no Superstars. They play very good as a team and you never know which player will make the big play that can affect the outcome of the game. I don't think that Bingham should overlook them because PG possibly did last year and Syracuse pulled out the upset. They are well coached and should be ready for a great game against Bingham. I think the winner of this game will go to the state finals.

The first thing I have to do is eat my words. Someone predicted Bingham would score 53 this week and I disagreed, pointing out that their highest score at that point was 50. That was against a team that just doesn't compare with Jordan.
I suppose that I should have known the two highest-scoring offenses in the state would put on quite a show. To whoever made that prediction, I admit to being completely wrong.
I believe kudos are in order for both the Miners and the Beetdiggers. After seeing Hart and his cadre of receivers I'm glad Bingham won't have to play them again.
Those onside kicks almost turned the game completely around. Even though I wasn't happy to see Jordan succeed with them, I consider the play calling and execution incredible. Bingham managed to figure out how to stop that threat but not until Jordan made a game of it.
After the game I called a friend to tell her the score and she asked if the basketball season started early.
great finish | 11:12 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
I'm very impressed with Jordan's finish. Way to go and keep fighting. I am amazed at the both teams and want to congratulate Jordan on a wonderful season.

Good luck Bingham!! I hope you go all the way!!

To Football Fan | 11:30 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
If Bingham and Jordan played ten times, the outcome would be the same in all ten. So don't worry about the 21 point first quarter "spot". The better team won easily today.
Kjar | 12:23 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Eric is a great coach! All the stuff he had to deal with and finished the season strong, If we play anyone but Bingham we are getting to the 2nd or 3rd round. Great job in your first season, comes in and has to deal with all of Jacobsens baggage and does a great job. Cant wait for the years to come.
Great Game | 1:29 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
I guess this game shows that defense wins championships. Hart is really an amazing quarterback, but without a defense it doesn't matter. Bingham better step it up too, allowing 42 points isn't exactly ideal. They will have a much harder time against a team with a defense.
Alta | 6:43 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Alta just can't wait to CRUSH Bingham and send them home. GO ALTA, THREE IN A ROW!!!
Alta Hawkeye | 7:07 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009

Kudos Utah State | 7:21 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
One of the most exciting games I've ever been too! Great game. WHY ISNT BYU OR UTAH OFFERING THIS KID..Utah State may have found the weapon they need to turn their program around. Kudos Utah State.
Pass Defense | 9:57 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
The road to the state championship for Bingham is full of teams with high powered passing offenses. In yesterday's game I only saw 5 rushers 2 times. It probably happened a lot more than that - I didn't watch every down looking for that, but Hart was free to pass at will - very little pressure. This is Bingham's achilles heal this year - the safety's and corner backs need to step it up and the d-line HAS to put pressure on the quarterback, even if they're only rushing 3.
No spotting | 10:02 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Agree that there was no spotting. Bingham scored on 9 of 11 possessions and had a touchdown called back on one of the other 2. Bingham's defense shut down Jordan on six of its first seven possessions. The blocked extra point sparked the Jordan offense and the on-side kicks were great calls and well executed giving Jordan a couple of extra possessions and momemtum to make the game interesting.

I would never have predicted Jordan getting 42 points on Bingham but I assumed that Bingham's grind it out offense could run some clock with five and six minute drives. What I didn't count on was the gap between Bingham's O and Jordan's D being so big that Bingham would score too fast. I figured 10 possessions each (tops) and a 42-28 score. It turns out that Bingham's O was way more efficient and the extra possessions for Jordan accounted for the difference in their score. The game was certainly more interesting than a defensive battle with Brighton would have been.

Anyway, congratulations to Jordan for an outstanding game effort (they did show heart) and a fine season.

Go Miners!
Cottonwood vs. Alta | 10:03 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Alta,

You got to get passed Cottonwood first - you can bet they're coming with ears laid back and guns blazing. The taunting you gave them in the first game this year "WELCOME TO 5A" from the sidelines and Alta's players has given them plently of fuel. Cottonwood has improved over the season, Alta not so much and I think Alta's running game actually has gone backwards since the Cottonwood game. Bingham may not be the state champs this year - many teams are really looking good. But I know Alta won't 3peat. I'm picking Cottonwood over Alta 24-21
Observation | 10:06 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Jordan put up more points than any team in the first round (except obviously Bingham). WOW
Supremem Effort | 10:18 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
I am so proud of the way Jordan sucked it up and made a game of it when it would have been so easy quit and give up. 3 grueling games in 8 days, every one a win or go home, down by 34 in the 2nd half. Says a lot about this group of young men they came back the way they did. It speaks to their pride, character. desire, ompetitiveness, and their love and respect of the game, their teammmates, and their coaches as they could see the possible end of their season and in many cases their football careers. We may not be the best, but our team gave it all they had when their backs were against the wall and showed what they are all about. This team proved they have the heart of a champion. You were a lot of fun to watch these last few games when the pressure was the greatest and your season was on the line.
Congratulations and good luck to Bingham, a great program that plays with class.
re Alta comments | 10:29 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Alta seemed to have struggled for three quarters against a less than daunting Fremont team. Alta should focus on Cottonwood and not take the game for granted just because of game #1 this season. Otherwise the flock might be watching the RES activities.

Nor can Bingham take Syracuse for granted.

Assuming Bingham and Alta do meet at RES, I don't foresee either team "CRUSHING" the other. It would be the classic battle both sides have grown accustomed to seeing.
Miners Fan | 10:44 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Utah State....Not so fast. I sat next to a guy yesterday decked out in Washington gear. I asked him if he was to scout some Bingham players and he said no he was there to see Hart. I know he (Hart) verbally committed to the Aggies but that means nothing. That Kid is the best in the and hopefully he stays here.

"any doubt who the best 5A team is? No miner magic at all!"
Bingham 38 (10-1, 5-0, unbeaten by Utah teams)
Alta 34 (9-2, 5-1)
No doubts at all.
Don't overlook Cottonwood.
Bingham is preparing to play Syracuse this week, not Alta.

Thank you Alex Hart for what you have done for all our family and the Jordan family. You make us all so proud. Braden Hammond, Steve Morgan, Cory Hunt and McCoy Hill. You are all great players and it has been so fun to watch you all grow up. Bill thanks for being the leader in protecting Alex all year. Jordan thanks for the great memories, now it's time for Utah State. Coach A, I hope you really do realize what a STUD you are getting in Hart. Hopefully some of the receivers will be able to come up there as well. I can't say it enough, but thanks Alex for being our families entertainment for the last few years and obviously many years to come. We have put a lot of pressure on you and you have exceeded all expectations! Thanks to the whole Jordan family in general, you have all been great! Keep it rolling in the right direction Diggers.

Good luck the rest of the way Bingham, you guys are tough!
Dark Knight | 2:13 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Next week will be interesting! Syracuse is pretty much the exact opposite of Jordan. Strong Defense but no offense. I expect to see Bingham beat them pretty soundly as long as they dont turn the ball over and their running game continues to run strong. I am a region 1 fan but would love to see syracuse humbled!
Bingham#1 | 3:06 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Dear Alta fans.. This is how you spell Cottonwood. It doesn't really matter Bingham will beat you again.
Future Digger | 3:09 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Coach Kjar congrats on a decent first year looking foward to the next three you got some up and coming talent in the freshman, sophmore class and just maybe we can get out of Alta's shadow. Also congrats to the Ute Conference junior team and coach Kendall Smith on an undefeated season.
Can't improve on that | 4:17 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Dark Knight, you're absolutely right about the difference between Jordan and Syracuse.
I like to think I have a way with words but I can't improve on that.
titan fan | 5:33 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
I hate to see someone say Syracuse needs to be humblec. You obviously do not know our boys! They are not runing their mouths. They play hard and play together. They have struggled all year with people telling them the can't and should not be here. They have true heart. All the while Alt and Binghma are continuously boasting about themselves. who really needs to be humbled?? I do not care how our boys do next week. I am proud of them for what they have accomplished thus far.
Whoa Titan Fan | 7:12 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Settle down. I don't see Bingham boasting about anything. They are a class act team and respect all teams and players. I can assure you that they are not taking Syracuse lightly. Syracuse is a fantastic team with talent. It will be a hard fought tough game and I'm sure win or lose Syracuse will not be thought less of or humbled.
Good luck to your and your boys but please ease up on Bingham boasting. They are a great group of boys that have fought hard for everything they have earned too.
If anyone..... | 7:13 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
If anyone is going to humble Bingham it wont be syacuse. You have never seen anything like you will see on friday. Good Luck! Youll need it!
Alta Hawks | 8:40 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Wow was that a fun game to watch. Alex Hart is by far the real deal. That kid is incredable. We have a good QB ourselves but Hart is really on a different level than I thought he was. It was sure fun to watch the game, but even better watching Alex play. I have heard a lot of talk from other schools trying to say there QB is the best, but I have something to say to you all. NOT A CHANCE, do you have a better QB. I'm glad some of our Alta boys are heading up to Utah State with him because he alone will help turn that program around. I'm with Miner Fan, boy will the state of Utah be lucky if he stays in state. Good luck the rest of the way Bingham, we will see you soon enough. Go Hawks!
Boasting | 9:34 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
I don't think any of the teams and players are the ones boasting. They all play hard. Its the fans that do the boasting, and I would hope they would. It shows they are good fans. A good fan will always expect their teams to win. As long as they aren't trashing other teams, boast all you want. On Syracuse needing to be humbled, I graduated from Syracuse last year. That football team is extremely humble and they have an excellent coaching staff that has the respect of their team. I wouldn't know how other schools act, but Syracuse is a class act. Good luck to Syracuse and Bingham. I wouldn't go as far as saying the winner will be in the championship. Any of the four lower teams from this part of the bracket could make it. Cottonwood, Alta, Bingham, and Syracuse are all tough teams. The top half is the same. Lone Peak beat Pleasant Grove this year and you can't count any of those four teams out. This years playoffs are still anyones for the taking.
Anonymous | 10:00 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Nice season Jordan. Great job to that offensive coaching staff, they put a great team on the field with half the talent pool of the altas and binghams of the state. Have to win the region in the future though, that will keep us from playing these top seeded teams early. Once again, great job diggers.
Bingham | 11:11 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
I think they are the class of 5A this year. Braden Anderson should be Mr. football in the state this year. It's too bad that he mostly plays on defense. We all know that the voters only look at offensive stats. Braden is the best player in the state. He's May be the best D-back bingham has ever had, or at least a close second to Jordan Pendelton. He should have been an all state selection last year. How he was overlooked, I'll never Know. Good luck Miners tear Syracuse up!
True Beetdigger | 7:40 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Great game boys!! I think its Binghams year though I'm done with Alta! Good luck minors and you better take state its your year!
plyxply | 9:28 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
great game again by Alex and the Jordan offense, what a great experience to have seen Hart play for the past 9 years and I can't wait to see him in Logan.
Alta will face a totally different CW team and I agree with the comments that Alta gave CW plent of fuel to get ready with. Hopefully Alta comes out and can match that intensity and play smart football because this will be a much closer game than the last one was.
As for Bingham, don't beleive half of these comments, Alta knows that it's going to be a battle just to get past CW, and that to beat you guys will take Alta's best game of the season. Good luck with Syracuse, good team who will give you a battle.
Anonymous | 9:31 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
True Beetdigger, thank you for your kind words. Both teams played very well and deserve respect from the other. But it's "Miners", not "minors".
Hopefully Bingham and Jordan will play in football next season, it should be another great game, especially if Jordan's defense improves. The Beetdigger offense is good enough already, even though their losing some of their best players to graduation. I'm sure others will step up for their team.
Bingham Miners | 9:38 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
We will walk our way through Syracuse, then Alta, and then P.G. I really don't think we will have a tough game the rest of the Playoffs, we are just that good this year. I expcect us to beat everyone from here on out by at least two touchdowns.
Bingham Player | 12:05 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
You know i think everyone should stop running their mouths on how Bingham will run over Syracuse or vice versa. Just let the Pads to the talking. We arent underestimating Syracuse one bit at all. and We arent thinkin of the semi's or state cuz if we dont win our game friday there wont be that. take it one game at a time. And Syracuse can cause an upset if we dont go in and play are hardest. Every team just needs to stop running their mouths and just play the great game of football and stop dissin on other schools and underestimating them.
John Anderson | 1:26 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Yes I do read these...and no I did not write the comment regarding Braden as someone commented and then that comment was removed. I do not think he should have been 1st team all state last year and think he got what he deserved. I also do not think he is Mr. Football but do think he is a great asset to his team and makes a huge difference. I absolutely love the Bingham program and feel very strongly that it is very much a team effort (coaches, players, trainers, parents, fans). We are very lucky to be part of something so enjoyable and excellent. Just a few miles from here are programs that really struggle and year in year out we do very well and all the young men that go through the program benefit in so many ways.

Please keep it positive!!!

I was disappointed to be unable to find any coverage of the Pleasant Grove at Riverton game. I know that is was billed as an interesting match up.
Win or lose the players on both teams are certainly worthy of mention in the newspaper or on the web site. I am not acquainted with any player or coach in either program. Perhaps i overlooked the article.
Kip McRae | 2:29 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Couldn't agree more with John's comments. I posted earlier about the comment John referenced, but the scribe chose not to put it on. While I appreciated someone giving my boy some props, I would rather not have comparisons to team members. I know for one, that Trav & Bray love working along side each other. They compliment each other well, and bring out the best in each other competition wise. I read the comment earlier and wanted to set the record straight, but it never got posted. This is a "team" sport, not an individual sport. People, please try not to cause disparity, if you are a Bingham fan cheer for the team! Help this team keep unity and strength. With a little luck and hard work/effort...they will do just fine! Good Luck Miners!

I wholeheartedly agree with both of you.
Bingham Player, only those who have never put on the pads will talk about how easy it is to win a football game, especially in the playoffs.
Focus on the job at hand, preparing for Syracuse. Give your best in every play because we need every player involved in every play. Even if that means just paying attention from the sideline and cheering for your team mates.

John, I feel that you're right in stating that we Bingham fans are very lucky. I remember a time when the Bingham football team won just 2 games in a 9-game season and to call attendance low would be an overstatement. The next few years were rough, too. The team barely made the playoffs and was eliminated quickly. Bingham fans now, for the most part, don't remember those days. Many don't know how lucky they are to have a team that not only has good people invovled (as I'm sure all teams in every sport do), but quality athletes as well.

Well said, although I must say that Travis is one of my favorite players to watch, he plays with a ton of heart as much as any Bingham player I have seen. But just like last weeks posts that were trying to rip #20 and the Bingham coaches, they just need to grow up. This Bingham team has playmakers all over the field, you can name anyone on defense and offense and they make a difference, I thought Cantwell and Vakapuna's runs were huge. Peck's hit on #15 the very first play of the game set the tone for the defense. I can go on and on, I think this team definitely has what it takes to win a championship but you still have to play the game and play hard as a team. Go Miners!!!!!
