How long can sloan tolerate these lazy players and their pathetic defensive efforts?

It must be like torture for him to watch all the offensive talents these players have and their essentially wasted, so far, by not playing defense and winning anything of consequence.

I guess we have to temper our expectations with the fact we have the 5th youngest team in the NBA. It is just fantasy to believe these young players will get it when they are this young.

Did Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, Garnett, Lebron, Duncan win in their early 20's?

No some starter earlier than others for sure but many of them not until they were older and more mature and realized they would have nothing to show but money for playing in the NBA.

Lebron still has not won it all and he has had some decent talent around him the last couple of years.

The stars have to align AND you have to be older and have everyone committed to do what it takes. Not easy.
Go away Sloan! | 10:09 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
What a pathetic franchise is this Jazz! begging Sloan to stay is a sure sign that things will never get better for the Jazz. The status quo is the preferred modus operandi for this decaying franchise.
wxpect the same thing like last year: First round exit, no championship, not even a division title, no lottery pick and mediocrity continues.

Sloan wants an extension. How about earning one. Start with putting some players on the floor who know how play defense and want too. Only after we see some consistantly good defense, can we start any championship talk.

It would appear to me if a man wants an extension he would try to coax some more defense out of that bunch of softies. That one feller is scared to death of any contact and then the rest don't think they need to defend. I think they need to put that feller back into them fancy dress suits and put a couple of them big young guys out there. Heck that one reminds me of Mark Eaton now thats what this team needs.

If Sloan would have the guts to bench Boozer, and Okur. Play Fes and Koufos, then I would say give this man his extension, he had the guts to earn it.

Old coach, young team - bad combination for anything but mediocrity... Coach Sloan is great at preparing young players for great things on other teams but not for winning chapionships with them. Since John,Karl and Hornicek left, the Jazz have just been a developmental team in the NBA. Not sure why we even have a team in the D league with the way our current team operates. Time for new blood at the coaching position, getting rid of old player blood that no longer performs and giving DWill a supporting cast that can let him run a real team that has the desire and guts to win. First order of business, bench Snoozer.

fez and kous will be the key for all of us receiving what we all want. That is they both need to play if we are going to have any success. Tomorrow is a good test because the Rockets are athletic and crash the glass

No they are hardly a great team, but you will see they fight you for every point

No defense. No extension. I agree with Chuckles first order of buisness bench Snoozer. Let him go take a nap on the bench, not on defense.

talk about ignorant fans. Jerry Sloan is possibly the best coach in the league and people want him gone? It's too bad a few uneducated fans get on here and slam the Jazz when they are in fact doing exactly what they should do, keep Sloan as long as possible.

I can't believe the love that some people have for Sloan. Have you ever watched Sloan "coach" a game? Why, oh why does he refuse to call time outs when the other team goes on a run? Do you not see it? Trust me, I'm not making this stuff up. Pay attention to the games, and you will see it happening all the time. It goes something like this: Jazz up by 6-8 points, other team starts making some shots, Jazz panic, other team gets confident and next thing you know Jazz are down 10. It happens game after game. It is a game of runs, but a good coach can feel when the game is slipping away and tries to do something to stop it. Sloan does not do this. Watch a good coach and if the other team scores more than 2 baskets in a row in a tight game in the 4th quarter they will call timeout.

Ignorant fans. Get a clue. Do you pony up the money for season tickets every year. I do and am tired of the system he puts out with the players he has. He is an egomaniac who finally needs to go. Wake up and get him out of here. Glad he was here, Even more glad when he leaves.

Why wouldn't he want an extension? 3 million a year and he isn't accountable for anything the team does. I would love that kind of job!!

I sometimes think that Sloan decides his game plan for every game for the entire year during the pre-season. I have never seen a coach who less of a feel for the game than Sloan. He always subs by the clock, and never factors in how the player is actually doing. Take Miles, how many games did he come in and do well, only to be taken out at the proper time? Same goes for all players. I personally would like a coach who will adjust to the flow of the game and ride the hot players.

RE: Wow..

I agree. I have been frustrated for the last 20-21 years with Sloan's timeout calls (lack of them) and his mechanical subing.

I certainly couldn't become a nugget fan.. heaven forbid..!! What a bunch of characters and I never liked coach Karl when he was with Seattle.

If the Jazz play like it appears from tonights loss, and if they extend Sloan AGAIN.. I will just 'forget' to watch like I did tonight. It is just too frustrating to watch the same old same old out of Sloan's teams....!
