Do I marry?  | 12:00 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
#6. "Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: it is good for them to stay unmarried, As I am." (1Cor 7;8). Chapter 7 of first Corinthians is about marriage. There are some exceptions to marriage, or just read verse 1,26. I would disagree with the Prof, per Pauls perplexing epistle.

Wilson says "her being 'a virgin, neither had any man known her' (Genesis 24:16)...this redundant phrase emphasizes the importance of chastity."

Do these guys seriously consider themselves to be "scholars"???

What nonsense! That is NOT a redundant phrase! The word translated "virgin" (almah, which became parthenos in the Septuagint) means a young woman of marriageable age, but not one who has never had sex. For that the writers would have used "bethulah." Any "scholar" worth his salt would know that. This Wilson guy has no business speaking to an audience in a higher education context.
