Now you know how it feels to compete w/some of the men in the state. Region 4 is by far the best region. So 6 int's? I thought WJ QB was incredible? Just shows how good our regions QB's really are. Alex Hart leading the pack. Theres always next yeat WJ, you are very young. Nice win LP.
LP is Good! | 7:49 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Lone Peak looked very good. I could see them go all the way.
Good Season WJ | 7:52 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
WJ you guys had a great season. The good news is that most of you are coming back. There is no shame in going 7 - 4 and having losses against Pleasant Grove, Bingham, Lone Peak and Riverton. Especially when the team is basically Juniors and Sophomores.

Keep working hard. Next year should be even more exciting.

LP Fan | 8:32 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Kyle Hanneman did play great as did all LP's defense. I think coach was talking about Jacob Hanneman, his older brother. Jacob had two amazing interceptions and could have had two more! Not to take away anything from Kyle; he is everywhere all the time and just where he should be when the ball is thrown! Great job LP!
Munchkin Hopes | 9:33 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Was hoping for an upset. No party in OZ tonight with the munchkins. It was fun while it lasted... BTW your region 4 talk is over rated. I have heard all this talk about PG and LP and their D1 etc. I watched your game on DVR from KJAZZ last night after I got home from the Riverton - PG game. Riverton could have won that game but handed it to PG with turnover after turnover. WJ gave you the same gift. No turnovers and both games are close and go either way. Yes, LP and PG got their wins and congrats, but all this talk of region 4 is dominant. Live in your bubble because it is about to get popped when you come North. Syracuse looked tough, Davis too, Alta too, don't know about Bingham they have not played but... Makes me know that when you come North your BOYS will get some serious punishment handed to them by their DADDIES.
Pop our bubble? | 10:19 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
when we go north our bubble is gonna be popped? only a couple teams up north have faced our region 4 and have gotten spanked so your tellin us there were gonna get dominated? tell me something why do offenses make turnovers? because its good defense and pressure on the QB so you cant say LP got lucky because of turnover when the defense was swarming everywhere and shutting down everything. WJ had no chance after the second interception and during the game when the QB got hit he was yelling stop to the players that hit him? weird

One extreem to the next wj and all their passing to the 95% running hunter. Should be a great game in west valley

It was so sad watching West Jordan go out like that... I really thought they could have played a lot better against Lone Peak... But I guess it comes down to who has the heart to win the game... Good Game West Jordan!!!

I cant wait to see lone peak be beat out by PG on the 13th!!
Re Munchkin hopes | 1:00 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
What are you talking about? Ovverrated Region 4? So far, the region is 3-0 in the first round with more game to be played today.

Alta 38 Fremont 14
PG 36 Riverton 21
Lone Peak 27 West Jordan 6

I will give it to you, Jordan will probably lose to Bingham. But to say that region 4 is ovverrated is just dumb.

"Riverton could have won that game but handed it to PG with turnover after turnover. WJ gave you the same gift. No turnovers and both games are close and go either way."

Im no football genius.. but since when are turnovers not part of the game? The fact is, Riverton comminted costly turnovers, PG did not.
West Jordan threw six interceptions, Lone peak did not.

So yes, blame the loss on the teams "handing" it to the Victors... but dont say that the better team loss.

That comment is laughable
West Jordan | 2:20 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
you had a pretty good season, but it's starting already with look out for us next year trash talk. Come on WJ fans keep your mouth's shut and let the kids play ball, what will be will be. And as a Miner fan I hope WJ does do good, but lets not start putting the cart in front of the horse..
Balance | 10:34 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
There are a few reasons LP is beating their opponents.
1. They have a balanced offense. They run and throw. (Whereas WJ pretty much threw every play).
2. They have learned from their mistakes. Throughout the season, the players have improved.
3. They are well coached and prepared. You can't say enough about how well the coaching staff has done this year.
4. The kids are jelling. At the beginning of the season, the kids weren't playing as much as a team as they are now.
5. Preparation. The players are motivated and prepared.
6. Toughness. There is a toughness to this team that has been lacking in recent years.
7. Parental support. The parents are working as hard as their kids! When kids know their parents support them, it's almost like a secret weapon! (And no, I'm not one of the parents.)
8. Opponents. Region IV is really a hard region! The games the boys played in region are probably harder than some they will play in the post season.

All these things could be a recipe for glory. Good-luck to the Knights!

Balance? | 11:11 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Since when is Lone Peak's offense is balanced. They didn't move the ball at all on Friday. They had three plays that did anything. All were fade routes. That is all they did. They couldn't run the ball at all. they got the ball in WJ territory and only mustered field goals. Three long fades doesn't make a balanced offense. Maybe you should watch the game again without the rose-colored glasses on.

be ready for Hunter's Power offense and D! DONT BE COCKY..
Yes, Balance | 1:52 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
I've BEEN watching LP every game. Maybe if you saw more than what they did against WJ, you'd agree.

LP puts together a game plan against specific opponents. What they did on Friday against WJ worked. What they do against other teams will be different based on that team's strengths and weaknesses.

Don't mess with what works!

Keep up the balanced attack, offense and defense!
My 2 cents | 11:15 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
I was at the game in 2004. Hunter was a powerhouse team led by Matt Asiata. Hunter also won that game. But that doesn't matter because I believe both teams have different head coaches and that game was 5 years ago. completely different teams from their last meeting. Hunter is probably bigger but I wouldn't say Faster or more athletic. I believe the keys for the game for hunter is Don't allow big plays have a bend don't break mentality and control the clock and with their line size 3 or 4 yards a play is perfect. for Lone Peak Control First down make them earn their yards and Get ahead early I believe is the best defense for lone peak make hunter get out of their game plan. Overall I think Lone Peak has the edge in this game. 27-10 LP
Anonymous | 10:09 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Just because a team is bigger dosent mean they are not athletic. Hunter is known as tailback high for a reason. 20 years since the school was opened and 15 all state backs. Not very athletic

"7. Parental support", you can't be talking about actual work the parents put into the program, rather how parents at lone peak just open up their check books and fork out the money. Everyone knows that lone peak trys to "buy" a championship every year!!! Hunter is all about hard work and working from the ground up, th kids have to earn everything.

Your comment is both rude and wrong. Both of my brothers attend Lone Peak. One plays football and they both play basketball. My family has VERY little money and both of those boys work their butts off this last summer to pay to play sports. Family members and friends sacrificed to pitch in, as well. No one is opening pocket books for them. However, they still have a lot of non-financial parental and family support that helps them succeed. Don't diminish that and assume that money is the only thing that makes winners. Hard work, dedication, talent, good coaching, and yes, parental support, make winners, too.
WJ Story | 12:01 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Will be the same next year. They will battle for 2nd or 3rd in teh region. Get beat badly by Bingham (how also starts a bunch of Juniors and Sophmores) and then lose in the first round of the playoffs. They will have huge numbers in the first 4 games and look like a real contendor....then reality will hit again when they play real 5A schools. Write it down and read it all year....it will happen.
RE: WJ Story | 12:01 a.m. Nov. 3 | 12:43 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
Bingham does not start ANY sophs. Sorry. About half Seniors and half Junions. Next year there will be maybe 2 juniors starting if that. Bingham's sophs (juniors next year) are pretty weak.
