Wow, I was wrong, Syr came to play. You'll have to bring it at Bingham next week.
plyxply | 9:46 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Congrats to Coach Jones, I wish he would've been the head football coach at Layton back in the day.
Good luck next week, big game. Jordan could scare Bingham but I don't think they'll be able to pull it off, so good luck with the Miners.

Im no football genius and I wasnt at the game. But was the picture to the right called a personal foul? looks like a facemask to me

sorry stevo | 10:28 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
"grasping" the facemask constitutes a personal foul. Hand on the face mask you have nothing.

Congrats to ALL the Titans!

to laytonlancer | 11:31 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Who's your Daddy? What time was YOUR game today? Thanks for the wellwishes and congrats on your win against us. You can come watch US play next week after you turn in your pads.
Lancer | 11:46 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
I hope syracuse wins it all, then we can say we beat the champions hahaha. You guys don't stand a chance against bingham or alta. No turf for syracuse this year.

GO lancers!!!
Ken | 12:18 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
I almost forgot that Syracuse made it to the semi's last year where they got stomped by Alta. Unfortunately next week is going to be Bingham doing the same. Live it up while you are still alive.
re: Ken | 2:29 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Thanks Ken. Why don't you just go worry about your own message boards.
Draper Dude | 6:48 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Man, Layton has to have the most unintelligent people posting here. Bingham has turf and that's where they'll be playing next week. Good Luck!
Mini bowl tradition | 7:52 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Longtime Syracuse football fans have seen this storied program for years in the Mini-bowl! Just makes me wonder what changes were made in the mentality or administration between the Falcons and the Titans? Must be the Wal-Mart! Rock on Titans!
KEN | 7:55 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
GO PLAY WITH BARBIE, WHILE WE GO PLAY FOOTBALL ANOTHER WEEK.
Titan Pride | 10:32 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Way to go Titans!!! At the game it was obvious that they were a dominant well coached defensive team...they have a good championship shot.
Observer | 2:01 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
When you lose, it's easy to make excuses and blame the refs. The refs called multiple holding calls against Syracuse.Find something legit, the game is over and Syracuse will show up and play hard next week. Go Titans!
What is it about Titans? | 3:52 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Looks like it hasn't been a good year for Skyline when facing Titans. It's always good to see them lose.
Anonymous | 4:19 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
your defense will do nothing against harvey langi. langi rushes 200 + on you
that one kid | 5:06 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Harvey who????
Ouch.... | 5:06 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
what happened Eagles?
old titan | 5:39 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
defense is where its at, dont matter who they play. ya bingham is good, but they like to run the ball. titans D this year looks great! syracuse by 7, over bingham.
Don't worry | 5:45 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Everone at Syracuse will know who Harvey is next week. Langi is gonna abuse that poor Titan defense. It might even be worse than Alta'a beatdown of Syracuse last year. Good luck, but Syracuse has no chance.
re: Anonymous | 11:02 p.m. Oct. 31, 2009
Look at the Facts.... Do you know that Langi is the 11th best running back in the state and that out of the top 15, in which #14 is Syracuse’s QB, 6 of the top 14 are in Region 1 and the Titans Defense has shut them all down except for the bad game they had against Hinds/Davis. Langi is a good back but he can't beat the Titans by himself. It will take a team effort. This should be a great showdown - Bingham’s #1 Offense vs Syracuse’s #1 Defense.

"ya bingham is good, but they like to run the ball."

According to the statistics provided by this web site, Bingham has a slightly more balanced offense than Syracuse.

I just looked up the rushing and passing yardage for both teams. Not counting this week's game, Bingham has 1,967 total rushing yards and 1,344 passing yards, for 3,311 yards. That's roughly 60% rushing/40% passing.

The Syracuse offense has rushed for 1,634 yards, passed for 927 more, totaling 2,561 yards. That's roughly 64% rushing/36% passing.

“Look at the Facts.... Do you know that Langi is the 11th best running back in the state and that out of the top 15, in which #14 is Syracuse’s QB”
There may be ten running backs with more yards than Harvey Langi, but there are many more with fewer.
Tanner Hinds at Davis has 178 carries for 1,332 yards. Davis has run the ball for almost ¾ of their yards this season.
Harvey Langi has 115 carries for 811 yards.
Syracuse’s leading rusher, Tanner Russell, has 107 carries for 696 yards.
None of Syracuse’s running backs come close to matching Harvey Langi’s performance this season.
Looking at the facts, Harvey Langi looks pretty good and he'll have plenty of help from Bingham's passing game, not to mention the defense that forced Jordan to punt on their first three possessions today.
You can quote all the “facts” you want, and I can do the same.
Statistics don’t tell the whole story. I saw West Jordan dominate every statistical category in the book against Bingham a few years back. The only problem for WJ was the minor detail of Bingham scoring more points.
Dark Side | 1:31 a.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Bingham's defense is legit. They will shut down any team in the state. Syracuse's mediocre offense will be begging to end the game.
Re; Never tell me the odds | 12:06 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
"not to mention the defense that forced Jordan to punt on their first three possessions today" is that the same defense that allowed 42 points to be scored against them? thought so.
Never tell me the odds | 4:12 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
“is that the same defense that allowed 42 points to be scored against them?"
Yep. JORDAN scored 42 against them. AND LOST.
Both Bingham and Jordan have scored nearly twice as many points as Syracuse this season.
They say defense wins championships and you are all talk about how "tough" the Syracuse defense is.
Bingham football has five consecutive region championships and a state championship.
How many championships has that "vaunted" Syracuse defense won? Zero.
Titan Alum | 8:04 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
The "vaulted" Syracuse defense has only been existance for 3 years... sounds pretty good to me if they have one of the best defenses in the state for 2 out of those 3 years. Do i know how good Jordan's defense is? no, but i think this Bingham-Syracuse game will be a close one. I personally have only seen Bingham place once while we (syracuse football team) waited to go into the locker room, Harvey is a stud and Bingham's offense is a good one. This Syracuse team are sometimes off their game(vs. layton) and sometimes on (vs. skyline, vs. Kearns and PG last year) i think they are hitting their stride and will show Bingham and the rest of the state that region 1 has some talent up north. I predict a close game within 7-14 points
Worst to. . .second? | 8:48 p.m. Nov. 1, 2009
Titan Alum that's "vaunted", not "vaulted".
Hunter lost every game they played their first year, 1990. In 1991 they tied Bingham for the region championship and had the number one seed with the tie-breaker win. The Wolverines did what Syracuse has come close to but not acheived.
They went from worst to first in one year.
Spare us the talk about how well you've done until you win a championship. Like Hunter.
Langi | 7:46 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
only played the first half in all but 2 Region games this year, those games were blowouts and there was no need to play him. If he had the number of carries and played in all 4 quarters of all the games he would be in the top 2 statistically.

Langi | 7:46 a.m. Nov. 2, 2009
You're probably right about that. But, because the games were blowout wins by the Miners, Coach Peck showed class and put in backups. Unlike some, he doesn't believe in keeping starters in and running up the score just because his team can. The only reason Bingham scored 62 the other day was because Jordan's offense was a threat to come back and win if the Miners DIDN'T keep scoring.
There'll be no such threat from Syracuse this week.
BigHead | 2:19 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Attention ALL Teams in Utah. You're all undeserving serfs to the Kings of Football-Bingham, Alta, Pleasant Grove. So quit talking and bow down to us. You're not worthy to even lick the our cleats. Don't ever assume you're better than us. You should all know your places. Peasants!!!
Anonymous | 2:57 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Don't forget Hunter, peasant.
Hey BigHead | 3:34 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
Huh? Let me guess... you team is out?
Alta can talk all they want, they are the 2 time champs.

Bingham fans are actually pretty tame. I have only read a few comments and I guarantee are not even Bingham fans. I am a Bingham fan and we have felt like we have had the best team every year since 04. I could point out every playoff loss that came down to 1 or 2 plays or even a blown call. The Miners were easily talented enough to win it each of the last 6 years, but only 1 title to show. I think they have learned, talking gets you nowhere. Even the coaches are focused on one game at a time. The starters flew back early from TX to get ready for AF and didn't even get to swim at the hotel pool. :)

As far as PG, there was a ton of comments early, but I think reality has set it and most comments are not likely PG fans either.
re: sorry stevo @ 10:28 pm | 6:02 p.m. Nov. 2, 2009
The Skyline player's head is bent awkwardly backward no doubt due to the natural forces of the defender wrapping his hand around to the front of the receiver's face and pressing on the face mask toward his own chest and not from the defender clutching the face mask and pulling it toward himself. It is clearly an optical illusion.
Respect for Jordan | 9:07 a.m. Nov. 3, 2009
If you want to see how "big-headed" Bingham fans are just go to the comments about the Bingham/Jordan game. I just finished reading several comments from Bingham supporters who defended Jordan. They wrote how good Jordan played, how much respect they have for the Jordan program and athletes, and that several of Jordan's football players should have bright futures at the next level. I was at that game and agree that Jordan was a dangerous opponent. If not for the early defensive series going well for Bingham, Jordan might have been playing Syracuse this week.
dear big headed | 4:00 p.m. Nov. 3, 2009
You might be right about Bingham and Alta being good But Poor Pleasant Grove is not in the same class. In fact Syracuse beat you last year. And you will lose this year. PG fans dont have a clue.
