This guy is getting off easy, should have been 5 years.

This feckless coward should have had the book thrown at him... its a shame. How long did it take for him to feel remorse? When he was caught or when his lawyer strongly urged him to? He took deliberate steps to cover up this incident, you can't call it an accident because he got behind the wheel of a car after drinking.

Now comes the civil suit?

KC

Wow. Shockingly light sentence.

THEeyepatch

Must have had a great lawyer, I don't understand why he's not serving a 0-5 sentence. He will be out between 90-120 days. I know the defense couldn't prove it, but he had to be drinking and/or on drugs the night of the accident. You don't run if you don't have nothing to hide.

Frank Zanone

Only 270 DAYS for causing massive injuries and lifelong disability? It is unbelievable that this coward could be in prison for less than a year -- it should be more like 5 or 10 years. We need sentencing reform for serious crimes like this.

pulled one over on the law.

He left the guy there for dead it sounds like and he gets off easy.

Curious

Does he have to pay any court fees?

He will be out in no time. I wonder who his next victim will be. It will be on the judge's head...

This is proof

. . . that the "hospitality industry" MUST be made to shoulder its share of the burden for the carnage it promotes and enables.

Some of the billions in blood money it takes in every year should be applied to help rebuild Mr. Franks' life. And he's just one of the hundreds of thousands injured by the very behavior promoted and enabled by the whole industry -- brewers, distillers, and distributors -- as well as bars and restaurants.

Instead, the industry that enabled this tragedy will just smile as it pockets the last of Mr. Murdoch's money, leaving Mr. Franks to get on with his shattered life as best he can.

The dram shop laws of this and most other states are a joke, and must be liberalized -- to incentivize the "hospitality industry" to clean up its act and stop the carnage, as well as to compensate innocent victims of the industry's promotion of highway carnage.

This cynical industry will continue to promote "responsible" drinking, like Mr. Murdoch's dinner drinks -- you know, the ones that ruined Mr. Franks' life.
