Will we die younger? | 7:55 p.m. Oct. 29, 2009
If we adopt Obamacare, then Yes, We Will!

Today's Russia is perhaps a less then perfect example of what Sara Arber is predicting. The economy there basically collapsed after the demise of the Soviet Union. This hit perhaps hardest males between ages of about 50 and 70. They either had no job or could not get paid by their employer for months at a time. Many older citizens were also psychologically emasculated because the Soviet mirage they had sacrificed much of their lives for was trashed. Vodka soothed their physical and spiritual losses.

The USA must have a strong economy to support all, be they young or old. We also need to maintain and make stronger our families. The challenge of an aging population will need a strong economy, strong families and much more.

Obamacare. | 6:02 a.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Under the Obamacare plan the death panels are very likely and not far off. They will decide when its cost effective to let people die as they leave the workforce.

It's very sad that the American families are forced to work so many jobs just to meet cost of living for their families. The new american family requires the income of many workers in a household to sustain themselves and leaves little time or the ability to care for their older parents and grandparents. Basically when parents retire they become wards of the state and the family unit becomes dismantled and separated.

We can't blame of call people uncaring about their parents because living dictates complete and total immersion in to a constant struggle of self preservation and care of a young family. Both parents and older children are forced to work to maintain a home. Income and poverty are now being summed up in total household income rather than individual incomes. Individual incomes are so low they all qualify for welfare, the shift to household incomes lessens the burden on welfare as the new target. Adult children living at home is now household income.

I've been hearing these doom and gloom predictors for decades now. Fortunatly they are always wrong.

Oh, good grief, "Obamacare" writer. Get a grip. The "death panels" do not exist and never did, except in the uneducated minds of a few partisan snipes. If anything, it would be wealthy Republicans, not the Democrats, who would institute future "death panels" so as to not degrade their wealth, having to support the destitute elderly "leeches."

Your issues with the current income disparity between the very rich and the rest of us, who now require many incomes to simply maintain, is more on target.

This lady does not take into account the generation now about to enter retirement. This is not a passive generation, willing to accept what previous generations have accepted, being shuffled off to nursing homes when things got hard. This is an active generation of generally creative and individualistic people. This generation is more physically fit, more aware of health issues, more involved in working in totally new fields after retirement, more educated...and on and on.

I'm tired of hearing pessimistic and sweeping generalizations about an entire group of people. In this instance, I think the predictions are way, way off base.

What this article refers to is not the current elderly and retired, it's referring to the next generations to come after them. We, the older generation can see the writing on the wall for our children of the 70's and 80's who will start this process. Their battles with older life has yet to be seen. But experience and knowledge of 2 or 3 previous generations we are not as dumb as you think.

No one likes a warning and to use caution in giving trust to others, but that is a fact the new generations can't comprehend, yet.

The older generations were not raised and lived on a chemical lifestyle of contaminated food, water, and products. This contamination of food will be the biggest contributor to shorter lives, not the care they may or may not get.

Obamacare and socialized medicine will help hasten it too because socialized health care cannot support non working people so they will draw the line on it and who gets it. Socialism depends on the able bodied enslaved workers and if you can't work you become a burden. That is what differentiates americas health care system.

So what you are saying is that the socialist, government-provided health care started under a Democratic administration for senior citizens (i.e., Medicare) is just a way to kill off our aging population. Wow.

This article reminded me of a scripture "Mens hearts will fail". You can't have freedom and have an immoral society. The two do not go hand in hand! If we want to be free we have to have the help of a moral God. "I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say, when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise" God will not step in and help us if we trample him under our feet! For God will not be mocked! Read scriptures, pray, be patient in afflictions and keep all his commandments!

Wow, I am curious if you actually believe what your saying or if your just a troll trying to get a reaction. You do realize that you contradict yourself totally and completely right?
