Pine View is still licking its wounds wondering how they made it into the playoffs. The Don's will go up early and hold off the Panthers to get the victory. SF 34 PV 17
Alta fan | 11:45 a.m. Oct. 29, 2009
PV will be fine algainst SF if they can figure out to score from the 5 yard line or get the ball in the wide outs hands. Thier kickoff and punt returner will get them past the 50. Field position won't be a problem. Up to the offensive coordinator to get it done. Let's hope it's not offensive.
PV will win | 11:50 a.m. Oct. 29, 2009
PV will beat SF. The Dons dont want it bad enough, and don't realize how good they really could be.

Beat Spanish.

Win in round 2.

Back to the semi's;

GO PANTHERS!

Spanish fork might be the favorite, but this is the post season. Everyone knows that their secondary gives up big plays, and their line backers only arm tackle. Sure they score 40+ points a game, but they give up almost that many as well. If they could tighten up their D, they would be scary. However, as usuall, one and done. Pine View has been there before. Do they deserve to be there this year, that is debateable. I would rather take a team that knows what the post season is, than one that does not.
RE PV | 1:07 p.m. Oct. 29, 2009
Win in round 2? Really? PV hasnt beaten a 4A team this season and you think you can beat Timpview?

Paper Dreams

SF needs to crack down on special teams and they will be fine. SF is ready

The D News is screening all the PV posts that are negative. Could it be a conspiracy?
Piece-a-cake | 3:10 p.m. Oct. 29, 2009
You said that before SC and Dixie... you lost your chance at a home playoff. I'm guessing not really that easy this time around big PV fan. Your lucky to be there and you won't win a game.
Re: PV | 3:13 p.m. Oct. 29, 2009
What is in the cake that you eat that makes you think you will get past SF let alone round 2?

football fan | 4:47 p.m. Oct. 29, 2009
Hey realist PV has been in the post season but that was the past. Stop living in the past PV might score a few points but they won't stop SF. This isn't college or the pros were you have the same team for a few years.
SF  | 5:28 p.m. Oct. 29, 2009
I have not seen PV play this year. But I have followed SF. SF's offense is very potent and able to put up alot of points. The defense has been suspect at times this year as have special teams. I agree with the previous poster that stated that if SF puts it all together they could be scary good.

Neither team should be throwing too many stones at this point as they both need to prove themselves in the post season.

Let's Go DONS

Region9 | 6:36 p.m. Oct. 29, 2009
PV isn't great this year and they may not deserve to be in the playoffs after the way the offense has played in the last 2-3 games but the fact is they are in and if they can figure out their offensive problems they could roll right past SF. SF's stats are a little misleading because of running up scores on very week teams.

Let us not forget, SF played all 4a teams this year. They BEAT 4A teams. How many 4A teams did PV beat this year?
PV season | 7:45 p.m. Oct. 29, 2009
PV has already packed it in for the year. It's been sad watching the team slowly melt down.Lack of talent evaluation and play calling have hurt the team all year. With the QB rotation and not be able to change running backs are just some of the problems PV has.Now you have a morale problem on the team that threatens to tear the team apart, the berating of the kids on the sidelines by the coaching staff during last weeks loss to Dixie was the final straw,SF 35 PV 7.Lets see if DN posts this.

pv isnt that good but they can beat sf, not a chance vs tv. there not to bad for a 3a size school.
re: re Region9 | 8:39 a.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Let us not forget also that PV, DIXIE, and SC wanted to be in a 4A region but was denied by UHSAA. I gaurantee the 3 4A Region 9 teams could compete in nearly any region in the state and I also gaurantee that Hurricane, Cedar, and possibly Desert Hills can compete with nearly any school in the state regardless of classification so let's not get too caught up in the 3A/4A discussion when we all know anything can happen in any game at any time. Also, Region 9 (except SC a few years ago)doesn't believe in running up scores to pad stats.
Hmmmm | 10:26 a.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Anybody but me notice that all the smack is coming from PV? Methinks SF has more class. Show 'em on the field boys, that's where it counts. One game at a time, lets show them what Spanish Fork football is all about!

Fight On, Rock Solid!
re reg 9 | 11:05 a.m. Oct. 30, 2009
This was Pine Views great year, beat a no name team from Alaska, beat a team from Las Vegas that has won one game all year, beat a 3A Cedar team by 2 points, beat a second year 3A team Desert Hills by 7 and beat a one win 3A Canyon View team, and I'm sure you noticed not a 4A team in the bunch,if you think PV is good your just dreaming, and next year it gets worse.
Re: Hmmm | 11:21 a.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Ya, SF, I saw that "class" at the Maple Mountain game.. You better hope that Karma Doesn't get the best of you!
re Hmmm 11:21  | 12:07 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Then you would have seen the running clock and our starters on the sidelines for most of the second half. There is not much you can do when MM could not tackle or defend the pass. Should our defense have just let them score to be nice? Get real. Look at the scores of all the teams that played MM. SF did not run it up.
Region9 | 12:56 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Who said PV was great? Who said PV was even good? FYI, Desert Hills beat the same Salem Hills team the SF beat so lets not start comparing schedules. The 3A schools in southern Utah have been legitimate contenders year after year. PV made to the playoffs and anything can happen. You can't on-sides kick when up by 30+ and not call it running up the score, sorry SF.
Does it really matter | 1:01 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
who wins this game when the next week they face Timpview. So, it just doesn't matter.
On Sides | 1:03 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
That was not a called onsides at the end of the half. The kicker slipped AND MM recovered.

One hour til game time... snow flurries are starting up.

GO GET EM DONS
Wow Really? | 2:12 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
So what if Spanish runs up the score. If the other team can't stop them then tough. Why should they feel bad about other teams. The others should get better and stop whining. And so what if PV has been to the playoffs before. Like someone said earlier, this isn't pros or college even. The teams have completely different rosters every four years. I wouldn't be surprised if PV won though because SF has NO defense, but it won't have anything to do with experience. And none of this matters because whoever wins will get destroyed by Timpview next week. We all know that.
Southern Utah Observer | 3:21 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Just think if PV didn't have half the Hurricane team playing for them how bad would they be? Or How good would they be?
PV coaching | 4:38 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
The PV coaching decisions have been wrong all year in the QB rotation.Mecham has been far and away the best QB all year, start the Peterson kid today,4 turnovers and 9 points,Mecham comes in 2 tds and 2 two point conversions in the 4th quarter, the PV coaching staff is to blame for the terrible year,Alex Mecham you got no respect this year from your coaches, you deserve better, but you have the respect of the fans!
Go Dons!! | 6:54 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Way to go Dons!! Great job tonight, way to stay focused and finish the game even when things weren't going your way. Now get prepared for next week, don't let up, and go for the perfect game!!

Fight On!
SF  | 7:12 p.m. Oct. 30, 2009
Great to see Special Teams made adjustments for tonights game, the defense made some big stops as well. Enjoy this victory tonight, tomorrow is time to start to focus on Timpview.

The QB PV put in for the second half was a much better throwing QB than the one in the first half. Although, the first QB was able to run more. PV you played a good game, and seemed like you and your fans were a good bunch.

Always Compete... GO GET EM Dons

S.f. Do you not have one of the best players in the state and he has already verbally signed with a college but yet you don't use him, I just don't understand. If I was the coaches I would be telling that QB to be throwing to him all the time, he towers over everyone, but they throw the ball to the others that have 3 or more guys on them. Utiliize your big guys out there.
Coaching | 9:04 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009
I do not understand what the Hosner and Company are thinking? Do they think just because they recruited Peterson they have to not only play but start him? Pine View had a decent offense. They won several games, and looked great offensively against Hurricane. After that the "recruit" must have reminded the coaching staff they lured him over with the promise of play time and since the Hurricane game, when Mecham ran for nearly 100 yards, and threw for over 350, they have done everything they could to make Mecham look one dimensional so they could force the new guy in. Look at the results from today. Mecham should have had the support from the staff all year, had he, perhaps this season could have ended differently.

My son (which is a senior) could have at least had one more game, but with the coaches stupid decision to start a sophomore quarterback, he as well as the rest of the seniors are done. They had an easy chance of beating SF, but we can't beat the coaches. The seniors are all upset, including the coaches own son.

Words have consequences and once posted here, can't ever be taken back. Coach has dedicated himself to your sons and this community for many years, please don't let your anger lead to something irreversible. I know losing is hard, but I also know, I'm never met a winner that was afraid to lose.

I just saying that football coaches are not that dissimilar from our species, we should show them some compassion.
I think I remember you (Anon) now, aren't you the person that bad mouthed Churchill before and after the war. I remember something Winston Churchill said that stuck with me, "Football is a catalog of blunders", no wait, it was; " When you are winning the game almost everything that happens on the field can be claimed to be right and wise".
No, I remember now, it's this -
We are masters of the unsaid words, but slaves of those we let slip out."

All you whiners at PV should be thankful for Coach Hos and his staff. Are they perfect? No, but what coaching staff makes everyone happy. Let's make a deal we will take your Coaching Staff and you can have ours. No one on our coaching staff as yet figured out how to beat PV, but more importantly on how to treat young men.One 500. year and you people want to fire Hosner and his staff PV was nothing before Hosner and will be nothing after Hosner I hope for his sake he takes the Dixie College job so that you people over their know how good you have it. My son has never played for him, but he has always gone out of his way in making sure he tells him out awesome he is. I have seen him and his staff do this with so many young men who play for them and who do not he truly builds men. I will bet he wishes this season would have gone differently considering he has a son who played, but sometimes it just does not go that way. Stop crying you sound like Hurricane or Snow Canyon parents.

I only have respect for what coach Hosner and staff and kids have accomplished over the past 8(?) years at PVHS. I can't believe there is anyone complaining because they were 500. this one year. Thanks for setting a standard of excellence for all southern Utah teams! Go region 9!
D-H Fan Dad | 1:23 p.m. Nov. 4, 2009
If you love their staff so much, then take your kid over there. We would not have to put up with his whining or your whining either way. He won't start at PV, the same as he did not start at D-Hills. The State has granted open enrollment, so exercise your freedom of choice, no one will hold it against you. Hos has done a great job, and he can evaluate talent, make sure you have it before you flee.
