Get that Rydalch clown out of office - put an end to this small town politics as usual.

Anon

IMPEACH HIM!!!!!! STAND UP RESIDENTS AND DO WHAT YOU KNOW NEEDS TO BE DONE...

CommonSense

I'm guessing that soon, the burg of Stockton will not be able to secure ANY liability protection from any Joint Powers Authority or any commercial provider due to this self-anointed arbiter of power, called Dan Rydalch. I find it amazing that a 29 year old adult(well chronologically)male, would run and tattle to his "DaddytheMayor" that the big bad Po-Po dared to stop a Rydalch spawn for not having a valid Utah drivers license in his possession. If poor little Jared Rydalch can't seem to manage to obey the law, can we assume that that rotten apple hasn't fallen far from the inbred tree? It's activities of a few squalid families like this that continue to make small towns like Stockton, a fetid backwater of internal corruption.
If the Chief of Police served such a ridiculous search warrant as alleged, then being a kneeling knave(lick-spittle) before the Altar of Rydalch, he cannot possibly enforce laws of any state much less the State of Rydalch. Time for him to go as well, even IF his last name is Kopp.

Throw the Bum out of office!

Marti

This Mayor should be fired immediately. This happens way too often I'm sure. There's no telling how many things this Mayor has done that's totally wrong and kept quiet by him.

Wow! The way he treated the female employee in the story is ridiculous!

COMPLETELY ASANINE!!!!!!!!!

Throw him out now!

Big Fish + Small Town = HUGE EGO-maniac!!!!!

As one who has known about Mayor Rydalch's corruption with Mrs. Montague from the beginning of the story, I am so relieved that this is finally coming out into the public eye. Thank you Deseret News!

The corruption of the government starts at this level. It is absolutely unacceptable. I hope that the townspeople of Stockton will do the right thing in the upcoming election.

Joyce

I'm glad that Mrs. Montague's story has been told publicly. No one should be put through what she went through. The mayor's powers should be limited, but as long as the people tolerate this kind of behavior from their elected officials it will continue. I hope that the citizens of Stockton will do something this time. Or are you going to wait and see who he goes after next? With 598 people left, how good are your odds?

Emily

I am very gratful that Mrs. Montague's case has been taken publicly after these past years. She dedicated 20 years of underpaid public service because she loved her community. Long before Dan took office, she was recognized by fellow colleges throughout the state and many sought her council and advice.

Now the rumor mill has been put to light and the people of the town may see who was guilty of any law violation.

Thank-you for all you've done for us, Mrs. Montague. Your honesty and kindness have prevailed.

Mary

I was horrified when Mrs. Montague lost her position as the town clerk. She was very dedicated to her position and a hard worker. I wonder what other stories remain to be told about the mayor?

Almost bet,

You could almost bet that the corruption goes up the ladder from the mayors office in to city business dealings with kickbacks and bribes. The City Council should make it a priority to investigate and thing the mayor was involved in.

This sounds like there are grounds for the state AG get an investigation going on this mayor and his corruption.

The son's ticket should stand and charges of interfering with the duties of a law officer in the performance of his duties.

Let this incident be a warning to all city mayors and elected officials that they and their families are not above the law.

Its the Cops fault

"The officer said he had no idea he had pulled over the mayor's son at the time of the stop. Dan Rydalch initially fired Rowell and then suspended him".
_____________

Its obviously the cops fault. He didn't know it was the mayors son he had given a ticket to. Had he been doing his "duty" in small town USA, he would have bothered to find out who the mayors relatives were before he started stopping people for infractions. He has only himself to blame.

Sleuth

If this wasn’t so terribly appalling, it would be entirely hilarious! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good grief! I am staggered that this antiquated, high-jinks, shenanigans persists these days. To me, this incident conjures up images of scenes from "Smokey and the Bandit" ilk, except “ol Smokey” is the "town mayor" instead of the "sheriff."

My sentiments go to the police officer, who appears to be simply doing his job well. And based upon this article and other reports, this Mayor is completely illegitimate, sullying the entire town’s reputation and legitimacy.

City of Stockton: Go do the right thing!

Mike Ridgway

Chris Sloan, the chair of the Tooele County Republican Party, reminds me a lot of Mayor Rydalch.

Earlier this year, he got busted by my wife and me for illegally appointing himself and Joyce Hogan of -- surprise -- Stockton, as delegates to the Utah Republican State Convention at the same time he stripped me of my delegate position with no basis whatsoever.

When we challenged his actions before the GOP State Central Committee, even an insider as corrupt as Senator Curt Bramble had to acknowledge that our challenge was valid and Sloan was forced to withdraw himself and Joyce Hogan as delegates.

So did Chris resign for this fraud on his part?

Of course not, instead he presided over the kangaroo court, (and this is where the parallel with Rydalch comes in) where he got my wife and me barred (for life?) from ever holding positions in the Tooele County Republian Party. The difference is that the little people went along with it, including the part where we weren't given an opportuntity to make a defense or tell the assembly who the real fraud was.

So the guilty reign and those of us who held Sloan accountable fry.

Some county!

To: Its the Cops fault

I hope that was a sarcastic monologue or you are just plain crazy and deserve to live in Stockton with you crazy Mayor.

Removing the mayor from office should be a given starting point. More appropriately the mayor should be put behind bars. If a citizen was to try bribing a police office or a judge this would be reason for additional legal action against a citizen. How much more illegal should be the mayors actions. He belongs behind bars. Further investigation should also be made into the facts of any employees dismissed since he became mayor and investigation of any business deals that would have given the mayor financial kickbacks. Don't just remove him from office, there are very likely many other corrupted actions that have taken place by such a low life since he has taken office (before taking office too probably). HE BELONGS IN PRISON!!!!

John

I must add my outrage to the rest of the comments. Can this mayor, throw him in jail, and give to Mrs. Montague a compensation of at least ten times what she was apparently given as a dog bone to just be quiet. To "Its the cops fault:" You are simply nuts. While this example of power abuse in a small town is a bit on the extreme, this kind of nonsense occurs all over. Let's stop it! To this pitiful excuse of a "mayor" I say: "Boss Hogg would be right proud of yew!" How you must view people! To the citizens of Stockton: Do the right thing now.

Hmm

What would have happened if SuperDell were mayor? Just a thought...

Appalled Citizen

Why can't the City council take action to suspend the Mayor for these actions? Has the Council no power? Why wait for an election to come around? What is a city Council for if not to oversee the affairs of the city?
