Bye, bye, Jani Iwamoto. I never vote Republican, but I will vote for whomever is running against Jani. This was not wanted by the residents, yet is was pushed through. Jani didn't clearly state her views on this when running -- I asked and was given a noncommittal answer. This is bad for Millcreek and for families who want to renovate their existing homes. It will reduce new developments and hurt property values.

anyone who claims to be a democrat and would not vote for jani is delusional. jani stood with all the progressives who live in millcreek and against the money interest of the home builders association and the real estate brokers.
Should not be allowed. | 5:38 a.m. Oct. 29, 2009
These mega-homes in predominantly small home neighborhoods should not be allowed, at least not on an individual basis. The only time mega-homes be allowed is if it is consistent with the neighborhood or new multihome development. They always look out of place and falsely affect the values of property around it. The character and style of the neighborhood should be more restrictive in replacing or rebuilding homes in established areas.

City planners and councils look at these homes as tax benefits and do not consider neighborhood aesthetics and other neighbors rights. These large mega-homes are usually erected property line to property line with no yards. Basically they are unsafe and too close to other homes and safety then becomes an issue for all of them. Police and fire dept access becomes minimized or not at all.

The majority on the Council voted With the Township Planning Board who are local residents representing their community. If you want to join the whiners and incorporate, go ahead. Then you can be like Cottonwood Heights that now wants to develop the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon beyond all recognition.

A large empty home that looms over a smaller, older home is seen in Millcreek last March.
