This is another sad example of an individual doing something that is just plain wrong, but it doesn't get at the root problem, the mal-application of Subtitle A Income Tax to millions of people in this country upon whom Congress has not imposed that tax.

If we didn't have the governments' mal-applying tax law to people who are not within a class of person upon whom Congress has imposed Subtitle A Income Tax then most if not all of these problems would go away. The truth is finally getting out albeit too slowly.

I sincerely doubt he was operating a "tax shelter" as the government alleges since that has a very narrow definition in the Code, but it certainly sounds like he engaged in fraudulent activity.

The problem with this type of article is that it is basically a government press releases, put out by the government for free at the expense of the government fawning and complicit newspaper.

The Supreme Court has stated that of all the powers of government the power of taxation if the one most likely to be abused. The newspaper should be our watchdog not a government lapdog.
