wow....one week into the season and he needs knee surgery? Why didn't he get this taken care of during the long off season......scraping the kneecap? minor stuff but not a long recovery....hopefully it will improve his shooting percentage!!

to Korver and full and complete recovery. Korver worked really hard on getting better last year and his wp48 score went up. He may never be a really quick defender but he does work very hard at it and has improved his D. His shooting percentage would improve a lot if Sloan made some plays for him. Just 5 or 6 plays would be enough to fix part of the "wings can shoot" problem. The rebounding and getting back on defense would improve with set 3 point plays.

This is a fixable problem that Sloan refuses to address. He has to make minor adjustments to the offense that use the strength of his players. Korver at least adjusts as much as he can.

A small adjustment by Sloan could make him and the team performance a lot better.

cj was the starting small forward, not shooting guard...

Are you unfamiliar with the Jazz offense?

Sure we have some plays for positions but there are also about 5 different options off of that same play that allow for every position to get shots.

Korver routinely gets the same play run for him that Harpring ran off down screens to get an open jumper around the FT line.

Problem?

He shot ALOT of 3's.

Problem?

I mean seriously, do we run down and throw it into the inside and then if it is open inside do we still throw it out to Korver on the perimeter so he can have "a play" run for him?

NO!!!

YOU TAKE WHAT THE DEFENSE GIVES YOU. The Jazz offense allows for all players to get open looks at the basket.

Korver was 59th in the NBA 3 pt shooting % last season. Average.

Why is it again we need to run more plays for him?

I'm in favor of running plays for guys who make a higher % of their shots.

Memo killed Korver from the outside and both shot over 200 3 pt attempts last season.

Okur was 6th in the entire league!

Duh!

You make'em you take'em.
Same old question... | 1:52 p.m. Oct. 28, 2009
Why do people continue to ask the same question, instead of reading? Korver has been struggling with his knee since training camp, and was told by doctors that he simply needed rest to resolve the inflammation in his knee. Weeks later, after trying to rest the knee, then play on it, then rest it, and ultimately being unable to fully flex the knee, a frustrated Korver went for another opinion this past week. This surgery is the result of that opinion, in which the doctor discovered a bone spur... which requires surgery and NOT rest. If anyone should be frustrated, it's Korver... who, in a contract year in which he wants and needs to be playing, he will be missing the first part of the season. Seems this could have been minimized A LOT, had the original doctor(s) done their job, and made the proper diagnosis to begin with... he could have had surgery weeks ago.
Fast Recovery Hopefully | 2:09 p.m. Oct. 28, 2009
Glad to see the surgery went well. Hope Kover is quick to recover. The Jazz need him and his fans need to see him play!

Trade Kover. Then give Sloan the boot and let's start fresh with a new coach. Don't epect too much from the Jazz this year as we have the same group of players from last year.

Until CJ recovers, the Jazz will be an average team with average wins.

Maybe Korver should had this fixed in the OFF SEASON insted of playing golf every day . These losers always wait for the season to start and then they go in for surgery. Too bad they can't base salaries on games played.

To Brent: I agree! Bone spurs don't happen over night. Had he been training hard during the off season he would have noticed the pain at the knee. Bottom line is he let his team mates and fans down. Sorry to all his fans but you got to call a Spade a Spade bottom line.

To Brent and Nevada fan: If you read the article you would know that the bone spur was just found recently when he went in for a second opinion from a more prestigious doctor. Good thing they found it now and not later when it had a chance to turn into a worse injury.

Again with due respect. I have them at both elbows so I am aware how this goes. The more the joint works the more inflamed it gets and the sooner you know you have them. Just maybe he should have walk the golf course more instead of riding the cart.
