So what are they going to do when no one adopts the animals in the shelter? Release them in the wild? Send them to the mood? Farm them out to product testing labs? Send them to zoo's? Euthinizing unwanted animals is an unfortunate fact of life. No one wants to see it happen, but I don't see any other way to deal with the excess animals that don't get adopted.
We were fortunate to adopt a dog a couple of years ago. She is a joy and a great companion and we were happy to get her. We were the original ones who found her wandering in our neighborhood. The kids started playing with her and fell right in love. We called Animal Control and were told that in 30 days she would be eligible to be adopted and so we did just that. So, she kind of adopted us by showing up in our yard.
