2A high school football playoffs: Millard at South Summit

This game is going to be so INTENSE! I wish I could be there to watch it, but I will be kept up to date on here. I would love a repeat of what happened in 2007, but I don't think that is going to happen boys. We need to come out with a passing game to shed some time from the run, because running it every down isn't going to work against South Summit. Just go in, play hard and work hard like you guys are doing, and play every down like it's your last. "The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender!" Remember that boys! Let's get that WIN! GO MILLARD!

I look for a close game but I think Parry is right. So. Summit is a more balanced team than Millard. Millard does not have a passing game at all and So. Summit can put 8 men in the box to stop Shields and the run.
Prediction: So. Summit 20 - Millard 16

We have three great runners. Sheilds mainly being like our full back. We still have Kade Wilcox, who leads 2A in rushing TD's, and Pancho Alcala, who could outrun just about anyone on that team. Though we wont be as effective on the run as we were against Gunnison, I think we will still be effective. Also, expect Millard to actually break out a good passing game. Not to often, but an effective passing game. GO GET EM' MILLARD!

I predict that the game will be played at South Summit at noon. and then the war begins. I think that it will be a very hard fought out game, until the final whistle blows, and when it does both teams will meet in the middle of the field for the gongratulatory handshakes, or high fives. Lets leave it all on the field - like men. I look for this game to be the best in the Quarters, lets make it so. The clock is ticken, and we are ready

I agree with UF this has the potential to be a VERY good game. Two very good teams that have been playing well. Hopefully both teams will bring their "A" game and be ready to play. Millard will need to keep up their momentum. Keep spreading the ball around on the ground with Wilcox, Shields, & Alcala and then throw in a few passes to Aleman just to keep the defense honest. The more threats you have the tougher it gets to defend.
I haven't seen them play, but it looks like S. Summit has some very good athletes as well and are able to mix up the pass and run.
This is a tough one to pick, but I will be freezing my hinny on the visitors side rooting for the Eagles.
Come on boys, let's see some good old Millard football and make our drive home an enjoyable one.

This game will be won by the team that wants it the most. If Millard arrives on the turf at SS with the mental toughness I've witnessed for most of the year, they will advance to the Semi- Final game. Stay Tough Eagles!!!

Sorry Cats. Ive said it before and im stickin with it. I think Millards rushing attack is to much for the SS defense. I had a chance to watch the SS vs NS game and NS ran it up the middle quite well. Well fellas Millards backfield is much much stronger and better than NS. Either way it will be a great game.

I agree with you Captain! Millard has 3 dominate rushers. They can plow over a lot of teams with their rushing attack, and if need be, they can get the pass off quite efficently. That Aleman kid is really good. I expect a great game, and if Millard shows up wanting to win, and plays every down like it's their last, I expect Millard to win this one. LET'S GO EAGLES!

Manti has had many good moments. Not this year.
South Summit is due. They mentally have a chance to make this a route but Marshal is good at putting on the game face in the playoffs.
They're playing on the best field in the state on SNOW. Advantage, offense. SS by 6.

I think bad weather favors Millard and thier running game. If the storms and bad weather continue look for a SJ v. Millard final. Both teams run the ball better than the rest. SS v. Millard should be the game of the week. Both are great teams and I look forward to finding out who wins.

I would agree - both are great teams. It is fantastic to see Millard back where they should be this year, after such a bad year last year. I'm as excited to watch this game as I have been in a long time. S. Summit has a great team and has had a great year. As Millard fans we know that we will have our hands full on Saturday. It's crazy that this is a quarterfinal game. Best of luck to both teams and I'm looking for the winner of this game to face San Juan in the finals. We will see who wants it more this weekend!!!!

Their is still snow here although it is melting a bit. The field has no snow on it, but it is COLD here! It will be in the 30's Saturday for the game. Bring your hand warmers Eagles. Go CATS!!!!

If it is bad weather Millard will have somewhat of an advantage with their ground game. Will it enough? Who knows. Whoever has hauled more hay will probably win.

S.Sum will be tough to beat on their home field and with a week off. 2 years ago was a fluke and actually cost us the finals against NSum. We beat SSum so easily we got over confident and NSum clocked us in the mouth in the first quarter and never looked back once they got confidence. We could tell SSum was much better than the 31-0 score. The Eagles better be ready.

Their freshman arent that good. San Juans c team had like 5 sophmores and the rest freshman. South Summits c team barely beat them by 2. Watch out for San Juans freshman team.

That was a frosh game! I saw in the paper that they only had 40 pts scored on them all year. They went udefeated (8-0), and when they won it wasn't by 6 or 7 it was by like 40 or 50 most of the time.

Millard can talk the talk, but can't walk the walk. After looking at these comments and then the score, s. summit could talk the talk (but don't), and can do quit a bit of walking! I know have tons of respect for them, GO WILDCATS!!!

Guess pay back time took place and I know it was a long ride back for the boys that lost, but, it was a good sportsmanship game... my compliments to both teams. Now it is up to SS to go down to Cedar City and get the next game under their belt. Thought it would be enterpise..... (so did they) can't look past them yet..... game at a a time. Go, Go, SS
