This is horrendous news. The watching of too much television by the youth of this Country is having terrible consequences. Modern television programs are full of gratuitous nudity, indiscriminate sex, and violence committed simply for the sake of violence. Whereas the programs of the past promoted positive values such as honesty, loyalty, and respect for others, the modern versions promote dishonesty, greed, and every type of immorality. With modern Hollywood's relentless promotion of these evils, it is no wonder that young people are destroying their lives.

When I was a child (and I'm not yet 30), I played with dolls and other "imaginative play"- I created the television shows instead of watching them
Now that I'm a mother, I bought my daughter dolls, but since they watch so much TV, they have little imagination to do the imagining themselves.

Also, television and video games (sedentary play), are IMO major contributors to the epidemic of obesity

At least it keeps kids off the streets. The down side is brain and body rot.

Too much television/video keeps children from essential "life" and career skills. If you cannot READ comprehensively, WRITE clearly, THINK critically, and SPEAK convincingly, your earning power will be severely limited.

While I support what Scott Pierce has to say, it strikes me as a strange article for him to write - because he makes a living from watching too much t.v.

Perhaps it would make more sense if it were written by someone who sees the adverse effects of too much t.v., like a child psychologist?

TV is bad for kids??? Where has this guy been? Has he not seen the other hundreds of studies that say the same thing???

Anyways... we now know the problem, so what is the solution??? Banning television from homes??? As much as people want to, you can't force people to be parents.

Kids these days are spoiled and technology is getting in the way. Parents are not doing enough to help them

Is television getting worse? I have been hearing that for many years what is on today would not be on twenty years ago. Strange I heard that 20 years ago too.

Thing is there is no good from pronography. But just as much good programming as bad and there are better choices too. The it's getting progressively worse has been going on for many years and no way to back that part up.
