You mean like last time Utah visited Fort Worth, right?
Defense | 11:20 p.m. Oct. 26, 2009
TCU has no business using the byu game as a measuring stick as to how they will fare against the utes. For example, last year.

I am glad that the Utes have a couple of more games at home before heading to ft. worth. Hopefully they can shore up their anemic offense, and sharpen their special teams play, particularly punt returns.

How many does TCU's home stadium sit? Is it really that tough of a place to play?

Utah winning at TCU would be an upset. As long as Utah's defense is playing at the level they are now, the Utes will be in every game.

Utah's defense showed how good they are when they played AF... oh wait, they walked all over you offensively except when it came to the score.Wasn't it your amazing defense that stopped the Air Force offense from almost tripling the number of 1st downs you got. What a good defense, so sure, they'll be at the game, but they won't be in it.

Congats to Kruger. You are fun to watch and we look forward to seeing you just keep getting better! Arent you gland you came to Utah and not BYU? I hear fans "down south are still a little bothered that you and your brother both picked the U!
GO UTES!!!!!!!
Seattleview | 12:05 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009
At least Utah will be competitive against TCU. That is what defense does for you.

It is a sad realization that BYU has been passed by so completely. Of course, when football is about football, that is what happens.

Still, forget all of the trash talking. Utah and BYU will have the chance to prove who is best "this year". Let results be the final word.

re:defense

"Walked all over you offensively?" Funny, Air Force was held below their season average. I guess that means several of Air Force's previous opponents were "walked all over offensively" even more than the Utes were.

Yes, TCU looks scary-good. Utah's defense has been able to keep them in every game since the UNLV debacle a few years ago. I hope they can do the same later this year in Fort Worth.

Just for the record, the Cougs have been beaten by 20+ points four times in the last season and a half, twice by TCU, once by Utah, and once by Florida State.

We here commenting on a Ute article but whose here dishing trash? Wannabe.
@ re:defense | 6:37 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009
Actually, Utah's defense played AFA very well. The only TD AFA got was when they had a 10 yard field. AFA's total offense numbers weren't that good and they didn't average very many yards per play.

The whole problem with Utah on Saturday was their offense. The defense was fine.

Bronco must not have really recruited him because if Bronco wanted him, Bronco would have got him.
TCU, all 2500 fans who show up sure will be excited.....until the younger Kruger sacks Dalton 4 times like Paul did.
Reality | 8:05 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009
Maybe it's good Kruger was lighter going against the smaller AF players, great game for him. He looks to be another player that Wittingham can develop into a Stud NFL Type. Utah Defense held Falcons to fewer points than TCU. I still worry about the offense though, maybe Schram is just playing close to the vest then open the playbook against TCU. If the offense doesn't get going it could be a long night in Texas. But I'm confident Utes can cover the 31 pts. Zoobies choked on in
P-towne.
Boise State Fan | 8:08 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009
The way BYU got beaten by TCU, their little brothers up north don't stand a chance.

A friend of mine at TCU said that the way his team handled the Y, well..........the yewts don't stand a chance and will be put away in the first quarter. BYU has the best quarterback and Cain is somewhere down the line.

Prediction:
TCU 43
Utah 7
GO FROGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BSU Fans | 8:30 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009
Now your TCU lovers since they passed you in the BCS rankings? Utah has nothing to worry about going against TCU. Speed kills and BYU got run over with it. Utah has speed to match and then some. All those close games you cougars say prove Utes aren't as good as you??? Well Utah knows how to keep fighting, keep battling and the cougars?? You get hit and you just stayed down. TCU has alot to worry about with Utah coming to town and don't think they don't know it. At the end of the afternoon it's only about the "W" not the 1st downs or the style points or the margin..it's all about the "W" and the UTES will get them @ TCU and BYU! W! W! W!

The funny/sad thing is to watch "die-hard" BYU fans slinking about pretending to be TCU and BSU fans...

Are y'all really that ashamed of "your" team?
RE Boise State Fan | 8:46 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009
TCU did the same thing to BYU last year, and I am sure you remember the outcome of the later game since it knocked you babies out of the BCS. If you had half a brain and you were actually a BSU fan you'd really be cheering for UTAH so that you don't get dissed by the BCS again because a more powerful MWC team is undefeated.

It will certainly be a tough game in Fort Worth and TCU will be favored, but Utah has an O line to protect Cain, a defense, and can handle speed so we will definitely put up a better showing then the Y-ners.
Sammy | 8:52 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009

Good work Kruger. Keep dominating.

Cougies are now hoping that TCU beats the Utes by more than 31 to "prove" that the Cougars are better. It just kills them that Utah might be better in their rebuilding year than they are in their peak year.

"It will certainly be a tough game in Fort Worth and TCU will be favored, but Utah has an O line to protect Cain, a defense, and can handle speed so we will definitely put up a better showing then the Y-ners."

LOL, Utah's O-line can protect Cain? He was sacked and hurried numerous times last week; he ended up with a whopping -16 yards in rushing. The AF DBs were in his face all game long on blitzes the Utah line consistently failed to pick up.

Jerry Hughes and the TCU D are going to have a field day against this offense.
offensive line ????? | 9:36 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009
Utah does not have a very good offensive line. Cain was running for his life against AF. They are okay but not great. Cain I feel is to low key. No emotion or leadership. As they say just even keel.
Shramm, Shrimm, Shrimp has shown his rookie stripes as an OC although he is trying to cope with all the injuries to his running game.
Utah is me | 9:39 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009
I can't say that I am not worried about the TCU game, because I am. However, I now have the same confidence in Utah's defense as I did last year. They are strong and will keep TCU out of the end zone, and like last year, even knock them out of field goal range. I think what we had last year that we may or may not have this year, is a Quaterback who, no mater how poorly he has played throughout the game, will find a way to win. When the D kept TCU out of the end zone repeatedly I knew that BJ would find a way to score.

I think that Cain had that mentality against CSU, maybe he will be that way again. Utah's D will keep it close, and if Cain Can We Will.
Hey BYU fans | 10:21 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009
Air force is going to beat you at your place this year! (and Utah too) FOUR HOME LOSSES at LES. (WOW)! I thought I would never see the likes of a melt down like this. How does the Roady Humaitarian bowl sound?

BYU did raise the bar in this conference. Too bad you won't be carrying the MWC banner again anytime soon.
What I love.... | 10:57 a.m. Oct. 27, 2009
I love all the coog fans that are pretending to be TCU fans or BSU fans... I am really sorry that TCU ruined your season once again - I'm sure it even stung a little worse since it was at LES with ESPN bringing so much attention to it. How quickly you have all forgotten the same thing happened last year - I think Bronco even gave the same lame excuses about not preparing his team well enough.

But what I really love is that the Utes still keep taking it one game at a time. We have two more home games before we play TCU. TCU is very good and they have a great shot of going to a BCS bowl if they can win out - that still leaves the pathetic coogs out of the BCS picture yet again.

The Utes will keep racking up wins and we will see how it all shakes out in a few weeks. I'm so glad we have players like Kruger that know how to play with heart to pull out tough wins. They don't ever give up... something the y could learn a lot from.

Go Utes!!!

MalamUte | 1:22 p.m. Oct. 27, 2009
Kruger has been impressive thus far as a freshman and is looking to continue the family legacy of greatness. I just hope he doesn't continue to show up his opponents with celebrations after every tackle. It's somewhat understandable when you're a freshman, but hopefully he will start to act like he's been there before.
Uhh | 1:37 p.m. Oct. 27, 2009
You have to realize as good of a team as BYU is, they have real problems against speed. Any time a team with speed shows up against them (FSU, TCU, Utah) their weakness shows and they collapse. Utah will do much better against TCU than the Y did - which isn't much of an accomplishment - to avoid anything other than a total beat down.

Utah's schemes are creating a lot of their problems on the O-line. I don't know how many times on third and long you bring in five wideouts and leave no blocker in the backfield, combined with the defense bringing pressure, that it dawns on you Cain might need longer than .86 seconds to make a play.

Utah's offense leaves a lot to be desired but that being said they still have a shot against TCU. Utah has shown they are better at playing an entire game and not giving up when they get behind. BYU players seem anxious to make it back to the bench instead of staying in the game.

Hope the best for both teams and when they meet in November it will be a battle-as always.

re: Bottom line.... | 3:06 p.m. Oct. 27, 2009
Then why did the BYU team last year break their huddles by saying "BCS"?

And print T-Shirts saying they want to get to the "BCS"?

BYU fans, players, coaches, and staff are dying to get to the BCS. Basically they are dying to get what Utah has, actually what Utah has two of.

Nobody cares about something that happened when Ronald Regean was President. But clearly that was the pinnacle of BYU football, and it was a quarter-century ago. That's sad.

Bottom line.

That national championship was a fluke which made it impossible for any non-bcs school to play for a national championship again. It was also before I was born. I'll take the 2 BCS wins in my life more than living in a 25 year old fluke moment any day.
Oh please, Ute fans | 3:27 p.m. Oct. 27, 2009
Spare me your newfound love for the Utes.

Few of you even remember just 5 years ago when Whittingham started 3-4 and you fair-weather fans were calling for his head.

Other than last season's incredible streak of luck (how many chip-shot field goals did the TCU kicker miss last year?), the Utes under Whittingham have been a consistent 3rd or 4th place team in the Mountain West, a position they will very likely occupy at the end of this season.

For those Ute fans in denial, here is where your team has finished in the MWC during the Kyle Whittingham era:

2005 - Tied for 4th place
2006 - 4th place
2007 - 3rd place
2008 - 1st place

Now here's where BYU finished during that same time:

2005 - Tied for 2nd place
2006 - 1st place
2007 - 1st place
2008 - 3rd place
re; bottom line | 3:28 p.m. Oct. 27, 2009
that's funny - I hope it makes you feel better. For me, it's nice to know that my team has done something quite extraordinary in the present!!! They didn't go undefeated 25 years ago and then have never been able to repeat that.

yeah that national championship must make you feel really good.

A story about a Utah player turns into a "I hate BYU" bashing by Utah fans. Wonder how Dave feels about seeing a great story about him turn into a hate filled bashing. Too bad we can't see into the future. Utah could very well beat TCU and BYU, or maybe lost to TCU and beat BYU, but if the extremely unlikely of Utah losing to both games, then will it be all right for BYU fans to bash the U in this same manner.

- Interesting how you didn't go back to 2004. Utah -1st place.

- Your stats illustrate nothing... other than there is some parity between the top 3 MWC teams.

- The most important stats for this season? Utah: 6-1.

- Stats that Ute fans are proud of: BCS busting twice and undefeated twice.

Another Kruger in the league is right. this kid will test off the charts at the combine. at over 270 pounds he runs a sub 4.7 40 yard dash. can bench press 315 over 15 times and can dunk a basketball like dwight howard. his 9% body fat is remarkable at that weight and he can only improve his over all athleticism with age, this kid is a sure fire first rounder.
