Sorry to see it cougs. I still can't believe that TCU is behind BSu.

Better keep working hard Utes. We have a long way to go.
moose on the loose | 12:07 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
typical of the ute fans running their mouths on all the BYU posts, so they all went out and had t-shirts made that said in very large letters "I hate BYU" on the front and in tiny letters on the back "and I kinda like Utah"
Anonymous | 12:09 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
With BYU's little fiasco last night, they got themselves demoted off the top 25. They ought to be ashamed. With all the money being poured into BYU facilities, this is the outcome. I know people who have bequeathed their entire estates to BYU and it seems to me that some of this giving should be questioned.

I place BYU's two loses at the feet of Bronco Mendenhall. Simply stated: BYU is not playing national-level football, because they don't have a national-level coach.

Let's see, looks like the key parts of this article said:

"Ohio State, Miami, Utah and West Virginia round out the top 20." AND

"BYU, Kansas and Texas Tech dropped out after losses."

WHOOOOOOPS!

If Florida and Alabama meet in the SEC championship game, it will be overated vs overated. And if the winner meets Texas in the BSC "championship" game, it will be overated vs overated.

No team has distinguished itself at all this year. We need a playoff. TCU looks like they can play with anyone.

I couldn't have said it better myself. The only reason that we don't have a playoff is because of money and the fact that teams like Florida, Alabama, and Texas think they are better than everyone else. Because they are "BCS" teams, all they have to do is win and nobody questions them or drops them in the polls after not playing well against their opponents (Alabama winning 12-10 over Tennessee, Florida only beating perrenial SEC cellar-dweller Mississippi State by ten points). ESPN is on the SEC's and the Big 12's payroll, so they would never say that these teams should drop in the rankings even though they are not playing as well as TCU or Boise State.
RE: Thanks overated,  | 1:01 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
They are, enough said! Tennessee would mop the floor with BYU and Utah - and best TCU handily. Can blame reality, it is just that top tier teams are - eh, just better than the bottom.
Cosmo's Cousin | 1:05 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
I know what all of you Ute fans are thinking after last night. There is still no way you will beat us on Nov. 28.

We're still going to beat you down in the most important game of all. We will contain your inexperienced, ineffective QB. Johnson hasn't a chance against Hall. We will contain Asiata.

BYU 34 Utah 21
Re: Cosmo's Cousin | 1:14 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Won't be too hard to contain Asiata since he's out for the season with a knee injury.

Or did that news not penetrate the bubble down south?
Moose? | 1:22 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Seems like your posts all deal bash on "byu-haters", which would make you a "byu-hater" hater rather than a fan. Nice.

NevadaCoug | 1:36 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
I don't see how anybody could be shocked that BYU fell out of the top 25. The AP especially is very unforgiving of non-BSC teams that get destroyed on their home field. I think we should all be relieved that BYU is sitting at number 26 right now. If BYU and Utah can win the rest of their games before the big match up at the end of November, we'll see two ranked teams go head-to-head for the second straight year.

Which means that BYU will lose again. I have no faith in them beating Utah if Utah is ranked ahead of them. 9-3 won't be anything to be too upset about, if it happens. But as a Cougar fan, I'm getting very tired of seeing my team come out flat in big games.
NevadaCoug | 1:38 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Just notice the picture of Tebow that accompanies this article. Anybody catch the fact that Tebow is committing a personal foul in the picture? Stiff arm? How about a face mask.

I'm betting that one wasn't called.

Re: cosmo's cousin.

I applaud your efforts in following BYU football and do not disparage you for not keeping up with the Utes. But if you're gonna talk smack, this little info might be handy:

1) Johnson's last year of eligibility was last year. The Utes QB is currently Terrance Cain.

2) Asiata is out with a knee injury.

My prediction:
Current BYU players: 21
Current Utah players: 24

ute fan | 1:43 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Cosmos cousin doesn't have a clue. Asiata is out for the year and Johnson isn't the QB either. Its Cain.
That just shows the level of education you must have.

The Utes have respect for these ball clubs. But they are not afraid of them.

Your posting name should be "mouth on the loose". Your jealousy of the Utes is quite hilarious. Talk about paranoia!!

AT LEAST THE UTES WANT TO WIN IF THEY ARE DOWN. Max and Bronco need to skip into the sunset cause that's the only happy ending they are gonna get. hope the Y drops the rest of the schedule, cause i don't want to see them in bowl game. let some one go who really wants of win. Pitta should have left with Collie.

of defending Bronco, until the Cougs get a coach with a killer mentality and starts to recruit speed, they'll have to be content with second place in the MWC (they'll still beat the Utes)and never have a chance at BCS bustin.

Sorry Bronco, you seem like a genuine great guy, but I can't take your pathetic defenses any longer.

Embarrassing!!

RE: Cosmo's Cousin | 1:05 p.m.  | 2:46 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
This is funny, you know why? Because your talk has gone from proclaiming: BYU as national champions to BYU going to the BCS to BYU beating Utah.

That's what BYU is all about...if you can't be the best, just keep lowering the bar.
Cosmo's Cousin | 3:07 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Well, a couple of things here.

You guys don't know your own players at Utah. Ever heard of Robert Johnson -- Ewtah's overrated safety. That's who I'm talking about. He's not a threat to Hall because Hall is too good. Hall will throw over and around him.

Also, we at BYU would like to go to the BCS. But it doesn't mean as much to us because we already have a national championship. While we'd accept an invitation to the Sugar Bowl, we're more interested in the championship game to get another national championship. That's the difference between our programs.

Finally, we all know what the most important game is above all else (Nov. 28). Nothing makes us happier than reminding you who the big brother is every year.

Bronco | 3:19 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
To all Cougar fans who are calling for Bronco to be fired, I think YOU deserve another Gary Crowton. Wake up! Everyone who follows college football knew coming into the season that BYU was weak on the O-line and the secondary. They have done remarkably well for the situation. I remember people calling for LaVell to be fired too. It just happens that your arch-rival is having huge success and it drives you nuts. Bronco is a good coach. Be thankful.
Kewgs get dropped | 3:20 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009

Honestly, I thought they would still be either 24 or 25th ranked.

so how did you guys remind us last year again?..

oh ya, 48-24. nice reminder there.

and you are just jealous that you guys can't get to a bcs game, let alone a national championship. we did exactly what you guys did in 84 last year, they just didn't vote us ap #1. have fun losing another bowl game this year. and robert johnson will tear max hall limb for limb.

go utes
Re: Fire Bronco | 3:36 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
I'll lay odds that Bronco may do a better job (check his record) at what he does than you do in your job. Hmmmm! Maybe you better check your own stats regarding what you do before throwing stones at a pretty good guy with a very good stat sheet on what he does. Could it just be that BYU was beaten by a better team just like someone is probably better at what you do than you are?? Check it out and cast those stones somewhere else.
College Football Fan | 3:41 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
BYU just got beat by a better team with faster players and better coaching. This game was lost in the trenches. They will just have to get used to second or third in the MWC most years. And, maybe hope to win the conference during the down years for TCU and Utah. In order to get the better and faster athletes, BYU would have to compromise their honor code - and that will not happen. Does everyone remember the Crowton years? I believe it's a no win situation. Cougar fans will just have to get use to the 9 or 10 win seasons. The Y will keep beating the mediocre teams, but the big games will continue to be lost.
Re: Cosmo's Cousin | 3:07 p.m.  | 3:51 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
"Also, we at BYU would like to go to the BCS. But it doesn't mean as much to us because we already have a national championship." That's rich. All you people do is obsess about the BCS. BYU has done nothing in 25 years and it is killing you...especially you. BYU fans start out every year as though it is 1984.

BYU transformed the game of college football in the 80's by perfecting the short high percentage passing attack. Every team in the NCAA has now mastered the technique and moved on with other parts of the game, like defense. BYU is getting left behind in the game they evolved. Face it, BYU is grounded in the 80's.

btw...I find the majority of your posts immature and offensive. I am pleased that you are one of Bronco's fans.

Good luck with the Utes. The last 20 years suggests that BYU has about a 50/50 chance. You are right...a win there would be their greatest accomplishment this season.
TCU is only  | 3:52 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
a few points behind BSU. They will pass them if they remain unbeaten.
Re: Tired | 3:59 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
BYU tried to get a top level Coach with a killer mentality when they hired Pony.

He decided to be Utah's coach and took them to another championship and BCS win.
Re: Cosmo's Cousin | 4:40 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Wow. That was an amazing post saying that you still have your national championship. Lets compare some notes. BYU beat a 20th ranked team and had to be dubbed "national champs". That was life. Those were the rules. Sobeit.

However, we are now in the post "1984" era . . . like 25 years post . . . and you better deal with the fact that currently the system is the BCS. Like it or not, that is the world in which we live. Keep telling yourself you really don't need the BCS bowl. I think you are the only BYU fan who thinks that, although I think it is a case of sour grapes.

Will Utah beat BYU? I have to say, I haven't given it any thought. I don't measure Utah's success on beating BYU. You have not even shown up on our radar screen and won't until 6 days before the game. If our coach and players are as good as I think they are, they won't either.

Get used to it. The Utah world does not orbit BYU fans like you or your team.
Bigger is Better | 4:51 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
The reason Texas, Florida and Alabama are ranked higher is because they are superior programs. They have better recruits, better training programs, better coaching staff, better facilities, better media contracts and better fan bases.

They were already better when they helped form the BCS. TCU and BSU wouldn't stand a chance going undefeated in the SEC or Big 12.

Quit whinning and enjoy being big fish in little ponds. I am looking forward to seeing the Longhorns thump Florida or Alabama to win their 5th NC. Hookem!!!!
Yo, moose... | 4:52 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009

Hey, moose the loser...this post is about AP poll, and technically, since BYU is not ranked anymore, this post is about UTAH.
So, I'd kindly suggest you take your loud mouth to posts explaining why Bronco was out-coached, Maxi (and BYU team) was out-played yesterday.

BCS rankings | 6:11 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Just came out, TCU jumped BSU. BSU better hope the Utes beat TCU or they will be playing in the Smurf Bowl.
Big J | 6:14 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
I find it interesting how TDS fans have turned on their coach. He consistently gives you 9 or 10 win seasons. The guy before could not do that.

Yes, I know, you will never have a BCS bid or any hope of a national championship. Those are not your schools goals. They are fielding a team that follows the honor code. Accept it. Embrace it. Deal with it.

If you want to cheer for a school that can field a national championship team, cheer for the Utes!
BSU ranked higher | 6:46 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Its not rocket science, BSU has a win over a Top 10 team. TCU has wins against unranked teams.

By the way, it was not TCU's win over BYU that moved them ahead of BSU in the BCS but Clemson's win over number 7 Miami. The BYU win is weak and will actually pull TCU back down. LOL
TCU passes Boise State | 7:16 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
In the all-important BCS rankings:

1. Florida 7-0
2. Alabama 8-0
3. Texas 7-0
4. Iowa 8-0
5. USC 6-1
6. TCU 7-0
7. Boise St. 7-0

Congrats FROGS!
Small Minds In Small Cities | 7:23 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
I was born and raised in Utah 70 years ago, and I can't believe the small talk coming from apparently small minds! Why can't you "Now Generation" kids accept the fact that on given years you are not going to compete on the national level and that when a neighboring state like Idaho and BSU has a good team give them support instead of your little minded sarcasm? You apparently are so jealous that you both have to resort to VERY NASTY childlike behavior! Get over yourselves and compliment someone else for their successes and hard work. BSU is afterall no fluke, they have proved themselves for the past 6-8 years very well. Do you hear them whinning because they don't have much in basketball and resent the fact that Utah & BYU do? No they accept it. There is something for you in that, if you will let your small minds and crybaby attitudes exit your thought process. Grow Up!
Hookem Horns | 9:18 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009

Cosmo's Cousin | 10:02 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
There is no way the Cougs should fire Bronco. That is crazy talk. He's done amazing things for our program and brought it back from the dead.

I'd venture to say he's the best coach in the MWC today and possibly to ever coach in the MWC since its founding. Look how many conference championships he's earned since 2005 -- more than any other program.

We could still win a conference title this year. It's still early in conference play and TCU could still trip up. Mark my words, we'll be right there in contention until the very end.

Bronco will pull something out of his hat!
BYU BCS WINNERS | 10:36 p.m. Oct. 25, 2009
