John Drew made that driving shot into the middle by going off the GLASS, ERIC. You have touch, so, it's no shame to bank a shot straitaway, especially since you haven't had other success.

The Jazz should look at signing Brent Barry. Although, it has to be questioned why the Spurs let him go. HE can fill a role with his experience, and can be mentor for some of the younger guys having won a ring which is invaluable. He is excellent shooting 3s throughout his career and can still make open looks all day. He is smart and understands the game, would be good fill in while Kyle and CJ are out. Possibly if he does well can be part of the rotation throughout the season.

Sloan will make a huge mistake not letting Price play has much as possible. He is our best perimeter defensive player. He also lets D Will rest at the point. He should run a two man point game like he did with Fisher and Williams. That was Wiliams isn't pounded on every play. Jerry lost his love for Price last year, even when he came in and shut down other star perimeter players. This team needs a defensive overhaul!

I would think that Jazz fans would be in revolt.
Management has not done one thing to improve the Jazz from last year. This team as assembled does
not have the ability to get beyond the first round.
My bigger point is the fact that there was nothing done to improve the team or to strengthen the teams weaknesses. So, what is their to be optimistic about or invest hard earned money in a team only satisfied with the status quo?

And now a tv contract that will force Jazz fans to by a sports package to watch them.

Brent Barry???? That is not so bad I wanted to get Bruce Bowen when I heard Harp is gone. Actually anyone other than Hornacek to help our shooters would help a great deal.

If we could somehow lose Hornacek, AK may have a remote chance at having his shot return.

SOKOL what did you want the Jazz to do to improve the team? Korver came back so we cannot not improve there until we find him a home outside of Utah. We got Boozer by default and replacing him was out of our league so that is good he came back as superstars willing to play for the Jazz are not that plentiful.

KOC seems reluctant to renew Brewers contract so he must be reviewing the playoff reruns against the Lakers last year when it became obvious to the NBA world Brewer can't shoot so we may get some help there.

In a league of diminishing revenues AK's contract is untenable not just to us but to every other team in the league. Hope for the Nets new owner to scoop him on us next year.

Pray KOC can receive revelation.

Not a mention about backup centers. I thought we want interior defense. that is where Koufos comes into play. The Jazz should develop the kid and give him 18-22 minutes per so we have a presence in the middle as well as a back up with athleticism to let Okur get rest. 31 minutes is too much for Okur, the coaches admitted it. KK is the logical choice as a viable second team player. WAKE UP JAZZ!

You guys know my feelings. There are many things that cannot be changed I realize whether we want to or not. If these players cannot better offers like Snoyzie and some opt to return or stuck with a big contract like AK and cap issues, you are limited.

I stated last year and still do this is a "very talented roster" I do not want wholseale changes. The backup point and backup center issues are better clearly. Yes I would like a #3 that can slash and create his own shot or a big guy can block or rebound.

The team you could have maybe made moves with is Sacramento. They have the type of player that could have helped the Jazz but they would have to take our guys. Francisco Garcia, Jason Thompson or when they had John Salmons. Garcia is loved there, Thompson is theyr'e future.

Outside of being creative and pulling something from limited chances, we are pretty close to complete.

A lot of it is mental, hustle, smarts and more aggressive coaching.

That could mean 55-56 wins.

I am ready

i want others to post so this closes out for the day, however last comments on "standing pat"

There is only couple teams Golden State and Sacramento that might have had needs for both sides. An established team is not trading for our guys. Couple that with free agency issues like Bosh and cap changes next year-difficult.

There are only 2 moves that upset me in our conference

1) Jefferson with Spurs
2) Marion with Dallas
Both those guys could have helped,

However, we would have to figure out way to get rid of at least 1 high salaried player

The rest of the teams La (wash Artest for Ariza) Houston (wash Ariza for Artest), New Orleans (okafor who will not provide offensive challenged team with punch and likely trade for Chandler will help Charlotte more), Denver-zilch, Portland Andre Miller (Yawn),Phoenix-zilch

all did little either to get better.

I see this order for playoffs

#1 Fakers

#2 Spurs

#3 Portland (could be jazz though)

#4 Dallas

#5 Utah

#6 Denver

#7 Houston (still because good coach, 3 point shooters and still good defensive structure)

#8 Cloppers

We could finish high as #3 maybe #2

Well done Todd- couldn't agree more. Now that the Angels are out - time to focus on the Jazz. I would like to see what this team can do if it can stay healthy (not off to a great start). Now, let's see if Jerry can prove he deserves the HOF by getting the Jazz to play defense.

Stay Healthy and play great D - and we will take the 3 spot.
KJZZ | 12:14 a.m. Oct. 26, 2009
What the jazz really need is to broadcast the games on freaking KJZZ again! It's hard to be a fan when I can't watch the games!
todd from santa ana | 12:33 a.m. Oct. 26, 2009
thanks dave, yeah the Angels I knew were toast starting pitching kills any good offense. I was there last week the most incredible sports experience ever, go Jazz and REAL Salt Lake,

I agree with KJZZ issue the elderly, lower income should have 25-30 games or so to enjoy the Jazz on free tv. The Lakers have televised every road game on KCAL 9 for now 34 years. Some delayed from East but still provided option and had ratings especially in Magic and Worthy and Kareem days through the roof.

That`s a nice starting line-up,(Williams,Brewer,AK,Boozer and Memo)actually a huge improvement with AK at the 3 instead of miles, that`t a big up-grade,Millsap and Price,we know what to expect, hopefully Korver comes back strong,Koufos gets some minutes,I like our team Go Jazz
Barrry and Bowen | 10:15 a.m. Oct. 26, 2009
are done.period.Pops doesn`t waive anyone till he`s used em and used em hard, and,if they had anything left another contender would`ve snatched em up by now, they are old, slow and doneski

by the way that was the last time, I thought the Lakers had class was those days. Jazz historians remember that classic 8th seed playing the hard to 7 games in 1989 playoffs. We may have won series until Cooper hit that 3 in game 5

It was hard to root against that group but I still loved the jazz. Theyre fans then were serious intelligent basketball minds and for the 2 years I had season seats at forum great times, and great conversations with many in great seats at $8.50 each

ah wish early 90s come back with those prices
I do not think the Jazz | 7:47 p.m. Oct. 26, 2009
are done making adjustments. I think they will make a move with Harp. Boozer is going to play well, Okur has improved, however, he needs rest. Millsap is versatile. If he can play part of the time at 3 he will create bad match ups. AK adds options at PF.

Playing the 2 PG offense hurts opponents. A lot depends on Maynor developing fast.

Fez/Koufos will make a bigger difference than most people think.

Fez fouls to much but he rebounds and gets some points. He plugs the middle in a way that Collins never could.

Koufos looks like he played to much zone in Europe. That will adjust soon. His shot will come but his rebounding and defense are the key.

Fez/Koufos add height, depth and muscle.

I expect the defense to be a little better. The offense needs outside shooting.

The key is Sloan. Will he play match ups? Will he exploit opponents weaknesses? He seems more in control with the bad economy and weak free agent market. So far he seems more willing to make adjustments.

Sloan could be a great coach if he makes adjustments and sits nondefenders.

Sloan seems in control again.

Rookie guard Eric Maynor, right, appears to have won the battle as the backup to Jazz team leader Deron Williams.
