That's bigger than the current "McMansion" in one of those environmentally-unfriendly subdivisions where I, my wife, and our four kids currently reside.

Why would Edward "need" such a large house?

Apparently Edward didn't mind having a big house with a big carbon footprint for himself -- just as long as members of the Great Unwashed public didn't have the same opportunity.

Abbey hated that house. It was a piece of junk when he owned it 20 years ago.
