JOKE. Get rid of all the so called "sports" channels, except ESPN. They are the only TV channel that allows viewing for the whole country. Even if they only show 3 Utah games a year, it is more than we get to see now.
Utah won a tough game... | 5:13 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009

23-16 over AFA.

If BYU loses to TCU, then Utah may even pass BYU on the poll...just imagine that!!!
From the talk of NC game at the start of the season to third place in MWC!!!

Keep fumbling Cain . No one will complain because it would be racist .
defense | 5:26 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
A very below average offense-TCU struggled with air force and the utes always has a close game with air force- so glad teh defense played- Need a new OC!!! BYU will throttle air force and they will lose vs tcu and yes kitty fans Utes will get beat by tcu, but we will own you!!!!!
good job utes | 5:34 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Way to go Utes! These close games dont look all that pretty but a win is a win. Air Force played TCU tough too. A lot can be said about winning week after week, even its not pretty. The Oregon loss looks better week after week as the Ducks roll people over. Great game for Reed, and Wide. Hopefully Wide stays healthy or Utes are in trouble. Congrats Utes, and good luck to BYU I hope this next game is as close, and back and forth.

Lets hear it for those of us smart enough to stick w/ Comcast which has Versus.... phenomenal game.

AF always plays the U tough.... If BYU had 20% of the heart the Falcons maybe they'd have busted the BCS

p.s. Love Versus..... It has hockey

new ones are crowned; The Utes are defending MWC & Sugar Bowl Champs.
Ground Hog Day | 6:47 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Utah and AF is like the old Ground Hog Day movie, the same game over and over again.

Love the Utes, love the effort, and love the result. Go Utes!

But, can somebody tell me why QB Cain, who I think is a phenomenal player, simply cannot run the read option play worth beans? He hands off the ball every single time, sometimes when he has an easy 6-8 yards if he would keep it? What is up with that?
Anonymous | 6:52 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Sly and ROJO are studs. Where the heck is the offense?
Glad this one is over | 6:54 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Ugly game, but you've got to give credit to AFA. They're the second best defense in the conference behind TCU and it showed. They had Cain confused the whole day.

Robert Johnson was outstanding, and the defense as a whole did enough to give the offense a chance to win. Nice job Utes!
Bear | 7:11 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Fun day at the stadium. All of you complaining about the TV situation could just buy a ticket and come join us...trust me, you might just enjoy yourselves. It is great to see that the Utes can find a way to win - a terrific experience to draw upon in the future years for a young rebuilding team.
proudyewt | 7:50 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Utah can still earn the 2009 MWC Crown. BYU cannot.
Ute4Life | 8:08 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Wow... I'm so torn. Take the win but soooo much that needs to be worked on. Gotta love the D. The offense continuously puts them in bad positions and they keep making big plays. That was a serious man-up/gutcheck on 4th and 2. I suppose I would like the Utes to have more of a reputation for defense than offense. But Schramm is very much like Ludwig and Cain has yet to put together four quarters of football. If we don't start taking care of the ball we're going to end up w/ a very disappointing season.

I don't like to bring up smug valley on a Ute article but... I'm just wondering where all the tough guy y fans are from August,July and September that were talking about how bad Utah was gonna be and how the y was gonna win a national championship. Guess they're not man enough to eat some crow.

Wyoming and the Black Out next week!

Go Utes!

RE: Nat Turner | 8:34 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Classy. Feel free to go root for the team down south. Ute fans don't need the likes of you.
Nice D | 8:37 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
The play of the D is huge! One TD on, what- a ten yard drive?

The Utes need to start taking care of the ball.
Really? | 8:51 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Common folks, I wouldn't be out there thumping my chest over that win. It was an ugly win that doesn't give anyone confidence this team will play well against the big dogs. Still lots of work to be done.
The Truth | 8:57 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Utah vs BYU will be a battle to see which team finishes ranked in the top 25 and who will be unranked. This is the true MWC, a mediocre league with one or two good teams each year. I don't hear much talk about how tough the MWC is now. You need speed to win and this year neither team has it. BYU never has it on defense and Utah seems to have it once every few years, which isn't bad, but this isn't the year and that is...THE TRUTH
davidutefan | 9:09 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Just got home (in WYO) from the game. Great job defense. Bear had it right. If you don't want to miss the game, buy a ticket. I've had season tickets for 15 years with 11 of them living in evanston. No excuses for fans missing a game except that you're too cheap. TCU-Utah will be for the MWC crown. TDS will finish third.
Great game! | 9:12 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Anytime we can beat AFA I'm one happy Ute. For some reason they ALWAYS play us very hard and the games are very close. I know it wasn't pretty but we are 6-1!
GO UTES!!!!
Boo Anderson is Amazing!!! | 9:13 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009

Boo, not that you need any more ammunition but you are a STUD!!!

What an amazing hit!!!

Can't wait to see you play on a regular basis.

Congratulations Utes! Keep up the hard work. Sly and RoJo are phenomenal.
Former Ute | 9:24 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
If Cain cant' throw the ball more than 3 yards down the field - both TCU and BYU will tear this team apart (and BYU is terrible)
TheHailstorm | 9:28 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
A win is a win for the Utes.... I'll take it.
BYU really took one , so let's hope TCU runs the table and does the conference proud in a possible bowl game. Utah and YBU are now bowl eligible which is a good thing for the conference , but YBU stinking up the place didn't help matters nationally.
Who Cares? | 9:33 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
We won and that's all that matters. I can now proudly wear my Utah tie to church tomorrow. I won't need to say anything.
Nostradamus | 9:46 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Nice job Utes. Defense remains sturdy. Little hard to watch the game (Utah shold have won easily) - but I agree, any win against Air Force is a good win.

Offense needs a lot of work - Cain is a better player than the scheme and coaches are letting him be. Time to open up a bit more.

Finally, why can't we field punts? Every opponent punt is a worry.

Love the Utes - but this year is nerve wracking!
A Win's a Win | 10:07 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
OK--so somebody help me here: I hoped for the Utes to make a better showing. But, just looked it up and TCU beat AF by 3 and Utah beat AF by 7, so shouldn't Ute fans be pleased about that?
Mike Johnson Fallon NV | 10:35 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
I'm pleased with the Utah win. Air Force is often our toughest game in conference. They are disciplined and don't make mistakes.

Last year was nerve wracking as well in a number of close games.
re: A win's a Win | 10:46 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
The difference there is TCU played Air Force in Colorado Springs, but I agree; there's things Utah fans can be proud of, and other's we can be dissapointed in. The offense needs to figure out how to play 4 full quarters and keep moving the ball. But we can be proud of the defense and overall toughness of the whole team, even though it wasn't pretty by any stretch of the imagination they never gave up and came away with a win. Here's hoping they clean things up in the next 2 weeks before they go to Texas.....or else I fear it will resemble what happened to the lowly Cougs tonight in Provo.
Re: Really? | 10:56 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Have you seen the scores of the Utah / AFA games over the last 5-6 years? They always play us hard and every time we have beaten them it's been by the slimmest of margins. Even the might Urban needed 3 overtimes in his first year as the Ute coach to beat them. Beating AFA is a huge deal and if it's by 1, 3, 7 or 50 points I'll take it.
Go Utes!! Let's beat the pokes now!
Red zone D | 10:57 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
I love our red zone D!!! We have given up big plays but once we're in the red zone, our D steps up so consistently!
Go UTES!!!
Is it moose season? | 11:25 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Where is the moose? The best thing about the TCU-BYU game is that it brings most of the zoobs back to earth.
FL UTE | 11:26 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Awesome Defense, half-baked offense. I cringe at quarterback-keepers.

Whit, you defense continues to get you through games, but let's get the offense firing on all cylinders in time for TCU!

GOOOO UTES!!!

PS. Keep jumping on 3rd down, Muss... you look like a red version of the Cameron Crazies.
Tomcat | 11:58 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
The Ute defense played inspirational football today, especially Sly and RoJo. The only thing more inspirational was watching the fans at LES do their reenactment of Exodus in the 4th quarter.
What an ugly game! | 12:07 a.m. Oct. 25, 2009
How is no one commenting on this? We got the win, but boy was it UGLY. Could our offense be any worse?

After today's games, it's pretty clear that TCU is the class of the MWC. It will be a battle for second place between two average teams in us and BYU.
Big J | 12:13 a.m. Oct. 25, 2009
I worry about this game every year. Always ugly. Always close. Utes usually win. Then, AF rolls over when they play the TDS.

The "D" is awsome. The "O" is one yard short. Clean it up. Hold on to the ball!

We very well may lose to TCU this year. They are a mature team. But keep this in mind, TCU has trouble with Utah, like Utah has trouble with AF.

Go Utes!!!!
Anonymous | 1:23 a.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Why are people so worried about TCU right now? If I am not mistaken, Utah plays WYOMING next week. Maybe we should focus on the Cowboys and stop worring about a game that is not even close to being on the minds of the players or the coaches. The best teams are the ones that prepare hard during the week for their upcoming opponents and focus on the old cliche of "one game at a time". The Utes still have to play against Wyoming and New Mexico (which isn't saying much) before they can start planning for TCU. Sure as fans we can look to what might happen, but it doesn't mean anything if you don't take care of the immediate business that is on your plate right now.
Brettski | 1:41 a.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Congrats Utes! 6-1! Can we dump the no huddle now? please?
We need  | 4:53 a.m. Oct. 25, 2009
more size on the O line. With AF in a 3/4 set up almost every play there should be 5 or six yards right at em.
Big J is right | 6:32 a.m. Oct. 25, 2009
Air Force always seems to play tough in the beginning of the season. But as the season goes on, they wear down from playing teams with bigger players. Utes Win ! and that is all that counts. Wear the Utah ties proudly at church today boys ! Bring on Wyoming.... Black-out the stadium !
Re: What an ugly game! | 7:45 a.m. Oct. 25, 2009
While it is true the game was ugly and the Utes offense has still not found themselves, please remember the strength of the defense the Utes are playing against. It is easy to make your kind of a comment when you don't recognize the strength of the opponent, as you obviously don't. Moreover, I believe the Utes scored more points against the A.F than TCU. Cain is doing well for his experience and talent. He will only get tougher as the season progresses. Also, give the Utes a break with all the injuries. Geeeez!
Need to fine-tune the O | 9:27 a.m. Oct. 25, 2009

in a hurry --before TCU game.

The O can't keep turn over the ball like they've been doing.
