That was some GREAT coaching on the PROVO side!
Great Job Saia!
I would not bet against Timpview in the playoffs. It looks like the streak will stay alive. No other 4A team can compete w/ the explosiveness of the T-Birds.
No one can hang with you? Wait until the STANGS get you again......
hope you get well.
that was ugly.
Provo just wanted that game to end.
They just run up and down the field don't they, pass it . . . run it . . . doesn't matter. Cannot be stopped
Provo - Run up the middle, run up the middle, run up the middle.... Punt
Timpview - 2 plays - touchdown
Provo - Run up the middle, run up the midde, run up the middle... Punt
Timpview - 2 plays - touchdown
Provo - Run up the middle, run up the middle, run up the middle.... Punt
Timpview - 2 plays - touchdown
Provo - Run up the middle, run up the midde, run up the middle... Punt
Timpview - 2 plays - touchdown
the Provo defense was defenseless and the offense was offensive.
Provo actually was much bigger on the line but size did not prevail over Timpview's speedy and big skill players. Timpview had too much speed.
Timpview's game plan was very good, got to give Coach Wong and his staff props.
Losing Maka and then Larsen were huge losses for Provo but Timpview was better pure and simple. But it might of taken a 2-3 touchdown game for Timpview to what has become another ugly Timpview win (from Provo's perspective).
Hopefully Maka and Larsen can recover or next week's game with Woods Cross might not have a good result.
Timpview remains the favorite to win it all. Perhaps Bountiful, Mountain Crest or Highland could get physical with the T-birds up front but their skill players are the best one will see in 4-A. To beat them one must control the ball and run at them.
TV quarterback was real impressive.
Once Maka fell, Provo went into its usual timid state when it plays Timpview. I mean Timpanogos, Westlake, Orem, Mountain View and lowly Lehi played these guys tougher. Provo goes mental against Timpview.
If we had Maka the whole game, the score is comepletely turned around
Provo starts the game with a big sack. Timpview is second and about 22 and 80-yard pass for a TD and the rout was on.
Actually the recap above was pretty close though sarcastic. But Timpview's average amount of drives for scores was about four plays, so the two plays above is not as far off as it sounds. Timpview scored in 9 of 10 possessions with the one time Timpview not scoring was because of a fumble that actually was recovered by Timpview but ruled recovered by Provo (it only prevented the inevitable).
Provo's lone score came late in the game trailing 57-0 against Timpview's JV team.
Two of Timpview's scores were by the JV unit which Provo's varsity could not stop.
Thank goodness for the 35 point mercy rule. It made the second half quicker but Timpview still scored on all four of its second half possessions.
On the bright side, even without Maka, Provo's return game was solid with Keoki doing most of the damage and having a nice return. Trent Andrus made a heady play preventing a Timpview touchdown only giving up a safety.
Do you even know football? Maka was playing when the score was 1 yard away from being 14-0. He knew what was about to happen. I would have stayed down too.
His presence makes no difference.
Maybe next year the score will be 64-14?
Timpview makes Maka no wanna play. See writing on wall, better stay down, give provo excuse
Like when he was on the second play of the game that went for a TD on a pass and also the long run by the Timpview QB the difference he made on those two plays. Hope he gets better but don't use that as an excuse. It was the fact that you fans couldn't keep your mouths shut and disrespected Timpview. BTW thank Andrew Aragon for his article blasting Coach Wong. When will people learn to not disrespect Timpview???
14-0 when what's his name went down
this game was never close
They should have beaten PG. They were one dropped pass away from beating PG. PG without their QB would be destroyed by the Tbirds now. Then, they beat up Highland, from Idaho who destroyed Juan Diego. They lost to Alta when their starting RB and DE were injured. Tbirds are finally healthy and are clearly the favorites to win the 4a state championship again.
Sorry Region 7, but you just don't belong with the Tbirds. Maybe The Tbirds should be forced to play their JV in region play to give the other teams a chance.
You know , seriously. I realize the "stangs" are a good team but quit the smack talk as if you have beaten us all these years. Yeah, it was close last year but we had many defensive players completely out of the game after the 2 quarter, including Kafusi and an injured Bills.
You guys are good but you still haven't beat us. Maybe this is the year, maybe not.
Let's change up your post a little by saying that the Stangs will get to play with TV again.
It looks like Provo needs to go back to the drawing board and retool.
People will stop blasting tv and coach wong when they get some class or take interview requests. Or maybe we should just ask the jv team who could win region. Allegedly.
on defense for the short time he was on the field Timpview gashed Provo for an 80 yard TD reception and 65 yard run down to the three yard line, That was just two of four offensive plays Timpview had with Maka on the field. In his offensive stint the Bulldogs went three and out. Perhaps with Maka Provo moves the ball a bit more and scores 2-3 TD's and maybe keeps Timpview's offense off the field a bit. Timpview stopped itself only one time because of a fumble. Provo's defense did not stop Timpview all game long. Most of Timpview's drive were five plays or less. Provo had no answers. If Maka plays it is maybe 49-21 or 42-21 if you are optimisitc, about what Timpview beat Mountain View as those teams are probably comparable in reality. Also, Timpview lost a proven D-1 product in Bronson Kaufusi, they went into the game without their best player and played most of the season without him. Timpview proved that they were well beyond a one man team. For Provo, it is hard to tell yet.
The most interesting thing I saw about this game was Provo's coach and players talking before the game. It seemed from what they said on the news that they had the game won already. The coach needs to learn to respect all the other programs he plays and get his team ready to play another way. They have had a good year however adn I wish all the schools who made it to the playoffs lots of luck.
