Private has nothing to do with it. Only about 7 Saint Joe girls play comp which means they play a little longer from March to May. By the way St. Joe did beat the 3A champ Morgan 2-1 in preseason. One Mo Jo!!!

Please, stop making lame excuses, or don't play at all.

we take the girls we have and make a great team out of them we dont have the money to go to amazing camps all over the stae or out of state, and recruit amazing players.. the privet schools have different rules and should be in their own league.

Thanks to the Millard Lady Eagles for representing rural Utah soccer with good play and good sportsmanship. And congratulations to St. Joseph on the win.

Sorry to burst your bubble but private schools are prohibited from recruiting for athletic teams. Stop making excuses. Millard had a nice run feasting on weak teams in Southern Utah all year, but its run ended when it finally faced a team that knows how to play more than kick ball (kick the ball long and hope that your offense beats the opposing defense). St. Joe and Waterford are both schools with very limited enrollment. That they are able to field competitive soccer teams, that even compete with 3A, 4A, and 5A teams is, is a credit to both of them.
You Don't Know | 10:50 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
We had a nice feast? Ya we had fun playing the teams in the south and it made us grow closer than we could've been. We dominated the game against So. Summit. The score doesn't show that but we did. The game against St. Jo's was ours. Waterford was there to see the proof. They know that our heart was in the game and we deserved it so much more. And excuse me but we actually did play multiple 3A schools this year also and we won all of them.

Congratulations to both teams on the game! Thank you players and coaches! It was very fair-play game. The referees also did very good job. I was actually impressed by the skills represented by the Millard team, great defense, significant improvement comparing to last year.

I don't wont to excuse our team, but they didn't play their usual game. Five girls from the team are also on cross country team and 2 days before they won state championship in 1A school category, with one of girl finishing first. They were definitely visible tired.
Since the school is small, most girls play two sports in one season. Three other girls played tennis winning third plays as a team and first in first singles.

I would like also to clarify the misconception of private versus public schools in soccer, I see that argument all the time.
It is not the matter of being private but rather rural versus city schools. The big cities offer comp team opportunities for soccer players, that rural players don't have. Therefore I and others admire the achievements of rural schools with what they have. But also this is sport and there are no extra points for being rural only the final score matters. St.Joe is not only schools to have players on comp teams. Other public schools from Ogden and Salt Lake City area have all or most of the players on comp teams (Bonneville High on LaRoca, high schools from south on Avalanche and Sparta comp teams.) The rural schools don't have that opportunity.

It was a great game. Two good teams; both played hard and congratulations to St Joe's. Way to go Millard girls; your game is steadily improving. We look forward to meeting St Joe's again next year! It should be even more competitive than this year.
