BYU has a chance | 8:51 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Maybe one in a million, but they have a chance.Dear BYU defense: don't blow it again.

Not surprised... | 11:38 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
that Ute fans would want to show up to Game Day for a game they're not even involved in.

Proving, once again, the obsession that our little brothers have for BYU.
Seriously UTE FAN | 11:41 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
say it ain't so?! No way, you are the same "UTE FAN" that we have all come to know and love. Always the first one to comment and share your disdain of all thing Cougar.

But, if it really is you-we applaud your growing obvious affection for your friends to the south.

And I totally agree-Go utes and GO COUGS!!!!
Part II | 12:10 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009

I speak, of course, of the Oklahoma/Texas game.

But somehow, that story line seems to ring a bell...

Ah, yes! I remember now!

There is another team that has shown just that ability, against the same stout opponent, with a result strikingly similar.

More horned devils from Texas cometh, with the same aspirations, the same intent to leave you ragged on the field of battle.

DO NOT FALTER!

Yes, your foe is bent on your demise.

But be FOCUSED.

And above all, BE FIERCE!!! Fierce like the lion! That predator who's name you proudly bear!

It is your time, so rise! Rise and shout!
Not obsessed with BIG BROTHER | 1:28 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
just not suprised to see that BYU will embarrass the state, the conference, all on National TV . . . wait College Game Day is coming but they are NOT showing the game on ESPN??? What? Will it be on the Mountain?

Wow what a slap in the face.

BYU what a shame.

TCU 28
BYU 21

keep the quest alive, Kewgs!!!
Wonderful News | 4:59 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
This is Win - Win! BYU gets the publicity that GameDay brings to the university AND no one can watch the game to see how bad the team is prepared to play when it counts.

(bronco says that all the time when they lose.)
Big as it ever was | 5:03 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
BYU has a HUGE opportunity to go BIG this weekend. Forget all the years of the past, this GAME is BIGGER than anything that BYU has ever done. Forget 25 years ago...in the world that we live in, that means nothing. THIS GAME means far more for BYU FOOTBALL than anything that has come before. Big win against OK and then a big loss against FSU. This will be the third time and it will either make the program appear legit or just look like "Appalachian State"! Got lucky against a big school but really can't hang in "Primetime! As much as Bronco tries to play it even keel, this isn't just another afternoon hike...this is going after Everest.
nottyou | 5:37 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
The Utes have a game today? Who freakin' cares?
Striker | 6:51 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
I agree. Any ute who goes to GameDay with their sorry red is so obsessed with BYU's success that they just can't handle not being in the spotlight. Not only is it pathetic, but it's unsportsmanlike. If you're not one of the teams playing, don't go and sit there in the background with a sign that has nothing to do with what anyone's talking about. I'll be watching and laughing my head off at any ute who is there!! Thanks for following big brother!
Comcast vs. DirecTV | 7:11 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
I switched from Dish to DirecTV a couple years ago so I could get all the channels BYU sports were being broadcast on. Now, there is no single national source or satellite provider that carries all the channels. Given the ownership structure of these channels, the MWC should have seen this coming.

What a travesty to not be able to watch this game!

"And above all, BE FIERCE!!! Fierce like the lion! That predator who's name you proudly bear!"

I thought byu's mascot is the cougars, not lions. But then again, there's a lot about byu that I don't know about. And don't care about. College Game Day is in Provo because TCU has BCS aspirations. Nothing to do with BYU.

Sorry Kewger fans, they're here for TCU.

This must be the "level of education" Bronco was talking about....I wonder if he knows his players are on the same education level as the fans?

Anonymous | 8:30 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Is it one in a million or one in a billion chance for BYU. TCU is very good. They have been tested by AF as well as Clemson on the road. If the Cougars play solid and win the turnover battle - BYU wins. Go Cougs.
RE part II | 8:30 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
"....with the same aspirations, the same intent to leave you ragged on the field of battle."

I forget....are we talking about UTAH or FSU??? They each left you pretty ragged on the field of battle.

Please clarify
proudyewt | 8:35 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
I'm watching College Game Day from Provo. It's a bit of an embarrassement to be honest. The kewg fans are being so loud and obnoxious, the commentators can't even hear themselves speak. They look pretty irritated.

Kosmo keeps rising behind the stage and falling because he has no balance. The Y cheerleaders are wearing strange hats. The whole thing looks just bad.

C'mon Kewgs, please don't keep embarrassing the State and the MWC on ESPN. If this continues, it could be a nail in the coffin for our BCS bid.
Cougarf@n | 8:38 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
This will be a great game and I think my cougars will pull it out. One in a million odds for TCU huh? I'll take that bet, where do I sign up and pay my three bucks?
Hypocrisy | 8:38 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
How annoying can you be to bring a ROLL TIDE ROLL poster for college gameday here in Provo? Get the USC, Alabama, and Utah flags out of the picture

Reality sometimes is a real bummer, but with your big ego's you should be able to get over the licking you are going to get later today! You peeps might be better off looking straight ahead, rather than at the sky all the time!
CougarPride | 9:26 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Anonymous: ESPN is not here just for TCU. If they were only coming for one team, then they would have gone to any of the seven higher-ranked schools playing today. They're here because BOTH teams are good and make this an interesting matchup.
Not TCU | 9:30 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
If they wanted to highlight TCU they would just wait to go to Texas for the game with Utah. They're here for a team that has highlighted the Mountain West even without the status of reigning conference championship.

BYU has the biggest stadium in the conference, leads in attendance and, most importantly, draws the highest TV ratings of any team in the Mountain West.

Don't fool yourselves into thinking they're here just for TCU.

I love how the cougar fans are trashing on the ute fans who might be going down to Provo today, whether to support BYU or the conference. Let us not forget 2004, when game day rolled in to SLC to see THE UTES. I support BYU every game except the Utah game, but lets be realistic cougs:

1) Game day is here because it's the only game today where two ranked teams play each other.
2) If Utah fans are the jealous little brother, why does it KILL BYU fans that Utah has TWO BCS victories, while the Cougs have blown it the last 3 years they've have a great chance to go.
3) Both teams' fans constantly accuse each other of posting negative things on each others' blogs, but from what I read, the first Ute guy was supporting BYU. Come on people.
4) I'm gonna be honest, TCU will probably win, but I hope, honestly, as a Ute fan, that BYU plays a close game and I will be happy if they win, although I would not be sad if TCU goes to the BCS.
5) I HATE BOISE ST.
LA Ute | 10:45 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
It would have been nice for the article to mention, in passing, that GameDay has already been to MWC games, at Rice-Eccles Stadium when the Utes beat BYU to lock up the Utes's first BCS-busting season. (They've done that BCS-busting thing twice in this decade. Just thought I'd mention that.) Lots of BYU fans and this writer would like to believe that it's because of BYU that the MWC is getting newfound attention and respect. Um, no.
Anony Mouse | 10:57 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
In the end, just as Utah's presence in the MWC title race this season will be barely noticeable, the presence of a couple of Utah flags waaaaay at the back of the huge BYU crowd was meaningless.

The Frog was picked by Corso.

And, the Cougars will win the game!
me thinks | 11:04 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
that there might be one team more overrated than Boise State....

BYU
RE: Not Suprised | 11:05 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
What about all the BSU fans there? There were for sure more BSU fans there than U fans. And last year the U was your older brother from the beat down they gave you. So the U can pretty much come into your house whenever they want.
Reality | 11:07 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Dear Cougar fans,
Do you remember how kryptonite used to cripple Superman? BYU has that same problem with speed. They are great against the Colorado States and San Diego States of the football world. But this game will prove just as disastrous as the FSU game. BYU is not really back yet.
BYU fan | 11:12 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
BYU your offense is really good its the defense that needs to step it up today if you want to win. Last week against San Diego State their offense was all over our defense and now the defense has to play against the #8 team in the nation, so please defense step it up!
re: Anonymous | 9:47 a.m. | 11:16 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Come on down to GameDay Utah fans; it'll just add to Utah's little brother image.
Anonymous | 11:20 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
I'm a BYU fan and if they win today it will be bitter sweet because that means we'll have to listen to all the Boise St. BCS B.S. talk. I can't stand Boise St. Can you say O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D?!

GO COUGS and GO MWC!
Anonymous | 11:20 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
BYU the way, as a Ute fan I know GameDay is not here just for TCU. That idea is just silly. BYU has a well-known and highly-respected program. I just wish so many of their fans weren't so blind to the Utes' accomplishments, which have far exceeded BYU's in the last 10 years.
re:me thinks | 11:38 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
at least the Y plays real teams, can you say New Mexico State and the Wolf Pack....of NEVADA. Wow, tough schedule Boise. Wow.

14-13. If Bradford doesn't go down the second time Oklahoma has only one loss. Then TCU and Utah. That's a schedule. Yeah, the Y is getting a little big headed about this game day thing (if there was another game with two ranked team they wouldn't be within a hundred miles of Provo), but they should be ranked higher than Boise. In my oppinion Bosie should be ranked more like 15th or 16th, with BYU and Utah in front and behind them, respectively. TCU is a real top ten team. Did anyone watch BSU play Fresno? The could not stop Fresno to save their souls. No defense=not BCS material.
Digbads | 11:42 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
What is with the Ute comments on here? Who beyond the Salt Lake area even cares a bit about the Utes?
These comment boards seem like the crybaby Ute corner.
I'm sorry but nobody wants to hear about the U. Not here, not nationally.
BYU is the premier University in the MWC and drives the show. Air Force is also interesting to many parts of the country, but the other schools just aren't interesting nationally. Not at all. Do you think anyone outside of the area would care a bit about a Wyoming Utah game? *yawn*
Pathetic | 11:45 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Isn't it pathetic that Bronco has to point out in his quote that many people throughout the nation won't be able to watch this game, but it will still bring a lot of national recognition. It would bring a lot more recognition if the game was being televised on ESPN. TOO BAD
Moss in Wash | 11:48 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
I have Direct TV and I won't get the game on Verses. Big deal, I am going to my friends house to watch the big game on their big screen. It is always better watching big games with family and friends.

I hope Harvey is able to have big game and the other BYU running backs. That will open up the pass. BYU needs a big day from the defense. If so BYU will win this game!

GO COUGARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anonymous | 11:57 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
idk why you ute fans keep saying boise st is overrated...remember what happened last time we played you..AT Utah.
Ute Fever | 12:28 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
I love how so many Ute fans feel some kind of solemn obligation to suggest that GameDay is in Provo solely for TCU and to point out that they also came to SLC in 2004 as if nobody remembers and they have to play keeping up with the Jones. Apparently it doesn't matter how much success Utah has, its fans are still going to feel slighted by BYU. Yes GameDay is in town because its a game featuring two of the top teams in college football - its THE game of the week with potential BCS implications. That's why they are here and they wouldn't be here if the case was otherwise. Somehow that becomes a knock against BYU in the mind of some Ute fans. I feel sorry for some of you... I really do.
Mizzou Blue | 12:32 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
This is the type of game we've wished for..lots of national attention with ESPN Game Day in Provo. Now Cougs...make us proud!!!
re: Anonymous | 11:57 a.m. | 12:55 p.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Please explain how BSU's win over Utah several years ago makes any difference, whatsoever, in whether BSU is over-rated THIS SEASON.

The bottom line is this:

Boise State has peaked in the ratings and whether they're over-rated or not, the Broncos have little chance of staying ahead of TCU if the Frogs finish the season undefeated with road wins over two BCS teams and home and road wins over two Top 25 teams.

BSU fans have to cheer for all of the MWC teams to have a least one loss in order to keep an undefeated MWC champion from passing the Broncos in the polls.
