Sen. Hatch is a great ambassador for BYU. He is a great guy to have in the Senate. He will push for the abolishing of the BCS. Cudos's to him. Good luck BYU this weekend--------I know you can beat TCU..........Go Cougs.

Congrats Hatch... And Abolish the current Healthcare system too instead of looking the other way!

Taking a million dollars from the greedy healthcare insurance industry is ok and acceptable.

It wasnt something you learned at BYU was it?

Well if Cheney got an honorary degree at BYU while taking his share of a trillion dollars in War Profits makes it acceptable...

A Republican Trend....

Remember Choose the Right is not to choose Republican but to be Christlike!

I seem to recall David Magleby as a very staunch Democrat, a raety being from Utah and at BYU. Interesting that Hatch is also almost a much left leaning as his friend Arlen Specter (PA) and the late Ted Kennedy.

He another Republican who's partying while Rome burns. Done a lot of good, but now is not in touch with what is happening. If he were he'd be calling for Obama's removal !
Party on while Rome burns.

So he thanks BYU but urges on the Ute football team in the locker room. A politician everyone can love.

1st) As a U of Utah Graduate, I am going to point out the misspelling s/b Kudos.

2nd) So we can blame BYU for Orrin? I know we can blame BYU for Chaffetz

Why didn't he stand up and be counted to oust Pres. Clinton when he had the chance? Don't believe he has stood for the right. I wonder what someone has on him to sway him the way he is swayed. I love the way he talks when he is talking gospel and I want to believe what he is saying.

Well senator what happened from 1976 when you spoke at BYU while campaigning for the first time professing and committing yourself to being a freedom fighter, and saying that you were going into politics to fight that fight almost as a calling? What has happened in the meantime? while I respect your long time service for Utah in Washington, it's almost as if you've forgotten your own words. Now would be a vital time to shake off the Washington dust and use your influence for the real fight even if it makes you unpopular. Think about it Orrin.

Orin said he was for term limits when he first went to Washington. That was thirty years ago and he is still there. It;s time he stood up for what he preaches and get out of Washington. We need new blood in the Senate. He must have found that working about 2 1/2
days a week, a hefty salary, a very generous expense account, etc. too good to pass up. I hope all these hanger ons get dumped in the upcoming elections.

Hatch did vote to convict Clinton in the impeachment trial so I'm not sure what that's all about. I believe he is a very good person but that he is also a polictical realist - he knows what fights he can pick and win and which fights he will lose and he doesn't waste time and effort picking losing battles - why should he? I believe that if he were king you would see substantially different policies come from him but he is not king, he is one of 100 Senators and one of 535 members of Congress, has to deal with a Supreme Court, and an Executive Branch. He gets done what he can working within the bounds he has to work within. And to Old Acquaintance - you must be a very distance acquaintance and not very astute politically or you would recognize the handcuffs that are on Hatch right now - 60-40 in the Senate, a huge Democrat majority in the House and a Socialist in the White House. I'm not quite sure what you expect. If you followed the Finance Comte. debate you would recognize that he was doing everything he could do.

Lets see---Hatch voted to convict Clinton because he lied under oath about a consensual sexual matter, but he suopported Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court --who also lied about a non consensual sexual matter. Go figure!!
