If TCU beats byu, byu fans need to start seriously backing tcu and rooting for the mwc to get to another bcs game.. It would be criminal if Boise State got into a bcs over TCU.. I am a horned frogs fan this weekend.

I can't wait to watch the game in HD on the Mountain Channel> Well at least it will be in color won't it?
Rawhide | 9:04 p.m. Oct. 22, 2009
I know the game this week on the Mountain Channel will not be in HD --will it be in color? What a joke!

You know its bad when Utah State has a better TV deal for all of UTah, than BYU and U. has put together.
Rawhide | 10:06 p.m. Oct. 22, 2009
yes the mountain is pathetic, but you forget the game WILL be in HD on versus.... if you have Comcast channel 695. Except... it won't matter how clear the pic is if they forget to show up again like the last versus HD televised game (FSU... uugghhh).
re: TCU | 10:29 p.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Nah.
Nice try, BYU hater. Don't feed the troll.
Anonymous | 10:32 p.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Don't forget to show the tailgate parties.

Jeff Sagarin's poll presents a view different than your "criminal" theory.

Boise State 1 win over a top 10

Boise State 2 wins over top 30 teams

TCU 0 wins over a top 10 team
TCU 0 wins over a top 30 team

Neither Utah or BYU will finish in the top 10. Oregon will take the PAC 10 as they win the USC game on Halloween. Spooky!

ACE | 12:33 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
to Really TCU...If BYU wins on Saturday, they will have 2 wins over top 10 teams. That may not get them into the BCS, but should get them close enough to the top 10 that a bowl win will land them there. If BYU loses, then I'm for TCU too...but not before Saturday's outcome which makes all the difference.
BSU | 12:59 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
TCU beat BSU last year, so why did they not start the polls ahead of BSU? I would not call 3-3 Fresno a top 30 program regardless of Sagarin ratings! The fact that BSU plays nobody all year long except Oregon AT HOME on the first game of the year when all teams are still getting used to their new line ups should not be sufficient for BCS consideration. Beat someone decent like Oregon on the road and I might have given it more credit.

I like BSU, but unless they play better teams than the bottom feeders in the WAC and UC Davis for your schedule besides 1 good team AT Home to start the year, it is too hard to give you more credit than a team from the MWC that plays 2 top 25 teams on the road in conference and plays 2 ACC teams on the ROAD to start the season! Schedules are No Comparison.

Enough with the jawing, I'm ready for tomorrow's game!

BYU 42, TCU 28

Then we can see how the BCS reacts!

P.S. This week the MWC player of the week is Utah Senator Orrin Hatch who sent a 10 page letter seeking President Obama's support of a Justice Department review of the BCS monopoly. He's also calling the president out to act on Obama's earlier commitment to "throw his weight around" on the issue. As I've said before (tongue in cheek), "Save us Mr. President! Appoint a college football czar assigned to create a playoff! Only you can save us from ourselves and spread the wealth!"

Not!

I think it is rather humerous to see all the Ute fans posing as BYU fans in all the stories about this game on Sat. Thinks like, "I'm a BYU fan but they will get beat on saturday". I get the feeling the Ute fans are more interested in storming the BYU stories with comments, than they are with their own teams news stories. I'm sure it really bugs them to see all the attention BYU has got this year. Ute fans have to understand, BYU has been good for 20-30 years, Not just the last 5-7 years. BYU is well respected throughout the country. It was great to see BYU invited to the game at COWBOY stadium to start the season. Oklahoma is a good team. Any team would have a real set back if they lost a quarterback like Bradford. I will go on rooting for the cougars, win or lose. It's great to be amongs the 64000 at the stadium each year. Let's hope that Tom Holmoe and Bronco can continue to get the BCS quality teams on the schedule in future years. GO COUGARS.
Bob in line | 5:42 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
I am die hard BYU but will not be sad if TCU wins. They are a class team and would make a great representative of the MWC in a BCS game.

Should be a great game!

And as for Boise State, great program that is as selective of who they play as any SEC team. Have you ever looked at an SEC schedule? They alternate between playing 4 or 5 road games a year. I remember when BYU scheduled Hawaii every year and some years played 7 road games.

The SEC not only completely controls their schedule to ensure they look hot, they always travel with a great set of refs. The discussion within the SEC is pretty open.

While Boise State doesn't get the refs they do schedule a tight season that ensures minimal exposure to tough opponents. The rest is marketing. And while they are a good team, they are a far better at PR and scheduling.

Whatever. TCU beat them last year and both BYU and TCU would do so this year.
What's up? | 6:19 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
For sure Prove has it's "own unique, crazy atmosphere"
GameDay | 7:11 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
The best part about GameDay is watching the "featured" game of the week. The MWC, in all its infinite wisdom, made a brillant move by signing such great TV contracts with such well-known sports channels. The MWC complains about not being recognized, and it commits such a stupid act by limiting its exposure to certain viewers. Whoever made that contract deserves to be fired.

Secondly, I am not BYU fan, but can the Cougar fans please at least show up early for games and actually wear blue? Watching you watch their games, it looks as though there are rainbows in the stands. Wear your school colors for the love.
TCU > Boise | 7:12 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
TCU beat Boise in the Poinsettia Bowl last year. Both teams return their main players. TCU has beaten 2 ACC teams on the road; Boise squeaked by a disinterested Oregon on Boise's blue turf. TCU should now be ranked higher than Boise. The thing that is hurting TCU is the same thing that is hurting all of the MWC teams: the stupid TV contract.

Boise fans, remember, you are benefitting from the MWC's rejection of their ESPN contract. Several years ago ESPN wanted the Mountain West, not the WAC. But the Mountain West, in an unbelievable short-sighted decision, chose to reject the ESPN deal and do their own TV deal without, obviously, doing the market research to see how large of an audience they would have. But, please, Boise fans (and you seem to be obsessed with everything that happens here in Utah), remember, you are getting your exposure because the MWC dumped the ESPN contract, and your lesser conference, the WAC, greedily grabbed it up.
Ross | 7:21 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Watch out for the game day curse, teams that host game day many times end up loosing with all the hype, love and koolaid.
DH | 7:37 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Good luck to both teams. I hope you put on a great show that demonstrates a high quality Mountain West football game.
BYU foosball | 7:41 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
BYU has a great football program. Period. No one can argue that.

It is the BYU FANS people find annoying.
They forbid people from posting non-BYU-lover comments on "their" articles.
They do win/loss comparative analysis (IE we could hang with Texas, because we beat OU by roughly the same margin).
They make arrogant predictions & degrading remarks about other teams, then call everyone but themselves "classless" or "haters".
They overvalue BYU's football tradition. Yes, it is greater than Utah's, but nationally they don't stack up with the big boys.

And the list goes on...

Reality is . . . | 8:21 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Wake up Coogar fans! Even IF BYU wins the TCU game, there will NOT be any BCS for you. A BYU win will only assure that Boise State will go to the BCS. BYU blew all BCS hopes when they lost to FSU. Besides, Gameday is coming to Provo because of TCU, not BYU.
Reality is .... | 8:44 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
that utah is irrelevant this year. Nice free fall red heads.
anxious | 8:46 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
So what does it mean if BYU beats TCU and Boise State ends up losing somehow? (not likely) But what if?
Cats | 8:54 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
TO: "BYU FOOSBALL"...Having attended both BYU and U of U, I have NEVER seen ANY BYU fan behave in ways I have seen MANY Utah fans behave. I'm not trying to get something started. There's immaturity on both sides. But, the bad behavior of BYU fans doesn't even come close to that of Ute fans. Sorry, that's just an honest observation from someone who has been a witness at BOTH schools.
HD | 9:05 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
The game is on Versus tomorrow, and it's in HD.
to: Reality is | 9:22 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Last I checked the the number 1 - 7 schools are playing games this same weekend but collegegame day isn't there? Hmmmmm ... could it be because TCU is playing BYU? Sounds to me like BYU plays are part in college game day coming as well. Reality is that whoever wrote "reality is" is tired to seeing BYU's success. Well I hate to break it to ya but you're going to continue getting tired.

p.s. - could you do us all of favor next time and make a comment that isn't completely horrible and biased? thanks
Dullsville | 9:31 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
With ESPN's Gameday in Provo this week, the whole world will get to see what a complete dump Provo is. Should be a great opportunity to show off the arm pit of Utah.
LOVE MY COUGARS! | 9:47 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Forget BCS! Forget the nutty stats! Forget trolls and haters... I Love My Cougars! We've GOT to win it this weekend . . . I never get to sit in those stands, and often can't even listen with Mark and Greg, and without cable I certainly won't be tuning in to GameDay, but

I'LL BE CHEERING FOR THE BOYS IN BLUE~!

Let's give GameDay a great reception, Cougars, and let's send TCU home as humble as they sent us last year!

RISE AND SHOUT!
Football Fan | 10:12 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Dullsville, you need to get out of Mesquite. I have been to dozens of college football venues (in Utah, Oregon, California, Nevada, Colorado) for October and November football games and I can say that Provo, in October, against the mountains, with Mt. Timp with a crest of snow, is one of the most inspiring football venues I have been to. Provo is a great town with many national publications rating the Provo/Orem area to be one of the best to live, work, and raise a family in. If you are looking for a town for other activities, perhaps you would find Provo to be a dump.
Nathan | 10:22 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
The only reason ESPN's College Game Day hacks are coming to BYU is the very high possibility that TCU will beat them to give more under-the-table support to their BCS cronies. Who can't see through that?
Huh? | 11:27 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
It says that Gameday went to Harvard-Yale, then the later it says that Army-Air Force was the first visit to a non-BCS team site. Wouldn't the first non-BCS visit have been Harvard-Yale? Confused by the poorly written article.
to ace | 11:33 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
I love that you are still considering the win over oklahoma a top 10 win... Last i checked i couldnt find Oklahoma anywhere in the polls!!!!!
Lil' brother from Boise | 11:56 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
I love how Boise's win over Oregon is discounted because it was the first game of the season. Wasn't it the first game for both teams? Maybe Boise had the advantage with more seasoned players... Oh wait, they have like 4 seniors that even start.

BSU is overrated at #4, but they have one of the biggest victories this year. Oregon hasn't lost a game since that game. If you watched the Boise/Oregon game then you know that Oregon was lucky to get out of there with the score they had and not a complete rout. They were dominated the whole game. Beating Oregon is more significant than beating Clemson and Virginia.

TCU did beat Boise State in the P. Bowl last year. It was a one-point victory and BSU led most of the game. Why wasn't TCU ranked higher than BSU in pre-season rankings? PR, blue grass and a crappy TV deal for the Mtn. West. That's why. You made your bed, now sleep in it.
Colorado Coug | 11:59 a.m. Oct. 23, 2009
ESPN deserves a lot of credit for promoting a game that they are unable to carry on their own network.

I believe they are as sad about the MWC's TV contract as the fans are. But, they wanted Wednesday night games and offered much less money than Comcast/CBS/Versus.

Go Cougars.
Texas Cougar | 12:48 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Gameday is coming for TCU...What does that mean? If Gameday traveled for only one team, then they would never leave Florida or Alabama all year (well...they would have to make at least one trip to Austin). Gameday is coming because this is a killer match-up between two more-than-decent teams. It should be a great game.

I wonder how BYU fans would treat me if I walked around in a TCU jersey? Hopefully they'd be kinder than the drunk U fan that took a swing at my wife at Gameday 2004...but there's only one way to truly find out.
john | 12:51 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
TCU will beat byu, no question.
@8:44 | 2:24 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Utah is irrelevant this year? Utah is 5-1, the one loss on the road by a TD to a team with legit shot to win the Pac-10 and ranked 18-20 in all major polls. That's hardly a "free-fall" dreamer.
Boise Fans LISTEN UP | 2:44 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
All I gotta say is December 23, 2008:

TCU = 17
boise = 16

THE BRONCOS GOT BEAT! Boise thinks they are so good, yet they got beat less than a year ago. Go ahead and brag about beating your lowly wac competitors. Talk about OVERRATED. Boise is not better than Iowa, USC, TCU (as proven recently), LSU, or Miami. The competition speaks for itself. Face the Facts boise! You guys are an average team.
john | 3:45 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
BYU will beat tcu, no question.
As a BYU Fan | 4:24 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
I will be rooting for TCU because my loyalty stands with the MWC and seeing the MWC progress means getting TCU into the BCS this year as BYU and Utah have already lost.

No one wants BSU in the BCS this year.

Oh and Max Hall is not that great.
to: BYU foosball | 4:28 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Yes, and your utes don't ever compare anything do they? I remember a lot of comments on here last year about OSU beating USC and then losing to the utes meant that the utes were better than USC and could win the pac-10.

It's amazing to me that you are all so critical of the Y and their fans but hypocritically pull the same stunts about your own schools.

Something about the mote in you rivals eye and the beam in your own comes to mind.

The realization is that BYU fans are that way because they are fans (fanatics) about their team- utah criticizes them because they aren't utah fans, but BYU haters.
David in NY | 5:33 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
BYU is gonna pull this off. If not, hey, TCU goes on to leap BSU for the BCS game to raise the profile of our conference. It's a win-win for BYU. The best part... Utes aren't involved! Sorry Utah. Good seasons don't make a great program (e.g. Ball State).
Re:to: BYU foosball @4:28 | 6:03 p.m. Oct. 23, 2009
Why do you assume the post came from a Ute fan? You really think that only Ute fans hate Byu fans?? Think again!!!
Seattleview | 12:49 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
TCU and Boise State are BCS buster teams. You have to cheer for them when you get the chance.

As for BYU, I hope they win or at least are very competitive. They have a second chance on the national stage and the impression they leave in the game tomorrow will last for a very long time.
Party lifestyle | 3:21 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Crack open the energy drinks and Mountain Dew, it's about to get real in provo!!!
Anonymous | 3:25 a.m. Oct. 24, 2009
Here is what will happen today, BYU will beat TCU!! And that minuscule chance that is left for BYU to get a BCS bid will be all for not because the U of U will lose to Air Force, and drop out of the poll’s. So by time BYU plays the U, it won’t matter. Leave it up to the U of U to #%&% it up for everyone!!!!!
