Here I thought Harmon was going to give Patterson props, but he was just setting him up for a slap at the end. Love it.
excellent article | 7:08 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Dick, for all the fluffy articles you write, this one is excellent and filled with good analysis.

I agree whole heartedly. He is the best coach in the Mountain West. BYU and Utah should feel fortunate they do as well against him as they do. There could come a time when he goes a decade and wins the conference 8/10 years.

I'm cheering for a BYU win before that decade kicks in... GO COUGS!

Since you're scouring newspapers for quotes (you're probably reading this one), here's one:

QUIT WORRYING ABOUT READING NEWSPAPERS. JUST PLAY FOOTBALL, YOU WUSS.

It's greatr to see any MWC coach do good. TCU and some other top schools in the MWC should be in the BCS bowls regardless of possibly 1 loss. We are not that far off other leagues other than possibly the SEC this year. Look what Utah did to Alabama last year.

Look, tcu is a good team, no doubt but they are human and beatable, if the right game plan is used. BYU has the tools to win. All they have to do is use their big O line, tight ends, and big Polynesian RB's to pound the rock down field and push those little fast dudes down field. That way they chew time off the clock and score points, and keep the BYU D off the field. A game plan like this also reduces the number of plays that Max Hall needs protection, reduces sacks, and also reduces INTs.

BYU has a good record against TCU - 5-3 I think. I know, it's the refs fault but one of TCUs victories in overtime was not a victory. TCU fumbled before the endzone in overtime and BYU recovered - game over. So in reality, slow BYU is 6-2 against TCU. TCU is very good - apparently, BYU has been better. Go Cougs.

P.S. Why didn't Hughes move to the pros....grrrrr
Kobe Bryant | 12:37 p.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Its kinda like playing the Lakers, We all know that Kobe is going to score his 35 points. So we don't freak out when he does. Instead we focus on containing the other 4 players to minimize their effectiveness.

TCU is going to score a lot of touchdowns on Saturday. BYU cannot let the score scare them. BYU has an equally potent offense. BYU needs to play their game and realize they can win it. Just play like you are capable of playing. The Jazz have beaten the Lakers by 3 points right at the end of the game. BYU can win this game in the last 3 minutes of the fourth quarter. It is going to happen! GO COUGS!

BYU would be 4-1 against TCU if not for the ridiculous blown call in the triple overtime game where the Cougars lost 51-50. Just like TCU spoiled BYU's bid last year the reverse will happen -- BYU 35 TCU 20. Besides its Homecoming

Gee, I thought BYU had the unfair advantage of big budgets. At least that's what others have said. Interesting that TCU has the biggest football budget yet does most of its recruiting in-state. Isn't it cheaper to stay in-state than recruit elsewhere?

Rah Rah TCU!!!! Let's go Frogs!
Don't doubt the defense  | 11:11 p.m. Oct. 22, 2009
The cougar D can be very capable at home. Remember the home crowd always makes a lot of noise when the defense is on the field. Plus, TCU doesn't have this prolific passing offense that everyone likes to believe they do. They are a rushing offense and BYU has been stone cold against the run since the Florida St. game.
