In front of the home crowd and the entire nation, Corso will don the Frog.
Probably True | 9:54 p.m. Oct. 21, 2009
Hate to admit it, but how could you not pick TCU in this one... They have everything to play for. BYU, not so much.
meow | 10:04 p.m. Oct. 21, 2009
Yeah, everybody picked Bama too.

Although I agree he will probably pick TCU, BYU does have something to play for - revenge. And I think there is a good chance they will get it.
I agree | 10:40 p.m. Oct. 21, 2009
I don't know why the cougars even show up on Saturday, their season is already shot. Ever since the FSU game they've just been going through the motions. No chance of matching what the Utes have done this year.
Coach Corso is wrong about | 11:10 p.m. Oct. 21, 2009
two times out of every three. He is almost as reliable as the Sport Illustrated cover curse.

Personally hope he picks the Horned Frogs Saturday morning.

He is almost as funny as the sophomoric Utah fans who come on BYU articles flaunting their return to mediocrity. Two great years out of 80+ seems to make them kings of the world.
RE: ...not so fast | 11:17 p.m. Oct. 21, 2009
When has revenge ever worked? They are not going to get it, nor should they. If the conference wants BCS big $$$, they need TCU to win.
Re: I agree | 11:26 p.m. Oct. 21, 2009
"I don't know why the cougars even show up on Saturday, their season is already shot. .... No chance of matching what the Utes have done this year. "

Laying on the floor laughing until my sides ache. The mighty "BEASTS" as UTah likes to call themselves beat San Jois, Utah State, Colorado and UNLV.. Wow!!!! It really doesn't say much. I think their season is shot seeing as how they lost 1 game to Oregon.

Re: N | 11:50 p.m. Oct. 21, 2009
At least Utah didn't get spanked by Oregon, unlike the BYU-Florida St. game.
BYU fan till I die | 12:08 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
BYU is a good football team and can certainly beat TCU.

What will Utah fans use as an excuse when their mighty utes fall to TCU? Can't wait to hear em.....
And you know they will!!
Idahoan | 12:09 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
So every TCU opponent left still should just play dead and let TCU beat them for the conference's benefit? If something said that about BYU there would be an uproar. Does anyone think SEC or PAC-10 schools do that for their front-runners?
Anonymous | 12:44 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
No one said anyone should roll over idahoan. Thats what Boise did for Hawaii and the rainbows, i mean warriors, got embarassed. Every team needs to play TCU as tough as they can, and IF they come out unscathed, then we will know they will play well in the BCS. Even if TCU is undefeated going into the Utah game, I still want the Utes to beat them, and they will do everything they can to try.

The nice thing about this weekends game is no matter who loses, both MWC teams stay in the top 25.
Dear I agree | 1:54 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Let's see they are both 5 and 1. HOW is that less than what the Utes have done?
I don't Agree | 3:21 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
What have the Newts done this year? Squat diddly, that's what!
Eugene | 6:21 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Laughable! That's what these posters are when they try to berate BYU when they say their season is shot because they lost...one...game!!! The extreme Ute bloggers need to get a life other than be Y-haters.

How can a BYU team ranked 16 in the BCS have a shot season? And if the Cougs beat TCU Saturday, how does that not move them up in the polls closer to the top 10. And with a win against the ranked Uters (and the remaining conference schedule), move the Y into the top 10 again (a place Uters haven't seen all season)? And if Boise State stumbles, allows the Cougars to be the highest ranked non-qualifier and invited to a BCS bowl?

Sounds like a shot no-chance season to me! Why even try? Because BYU fans know the answer. For a flagship iconic team, you never give up, never surrender!
Uties crying  | 6:27 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
I see we have a few uties crying because of the attention Big Brother is getting. Jealously will get you no where. whaa whaa whaa.
Jeff | 6:42 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
No doubt someone has already mentioned that the purple cow's head does not belong to Amherst College but to rival Williams?
BIG BROTHER? | 7:51 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
It's not very often you here about "Big Brother" continuing to receive money from "Little Brother" because that is all BYU has been getting since Utah is the only team in conference who can bring in some money to the conference because we are the only team that actually wins big games. You BYU fans keep calling Vegas your other home game because you will continue playing there while the Utes continue to win big games in big places.
No Speed, Bad Coaching | 8:15 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Can't wait to see BYu embarass themselves this Saturday. I bet Hall throws 6 interceptions and gets sacked 5 times
Vee | 8:44 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
TCU may look unbeatable, but the bigger they are the harder they fall. Never assume that the better team on paper will win.
The Cougars have improved slowly but surely. Go Cougars!!! I see BYU in the top TEN!!
Old BYU Player | 8:50 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
It will be sad when Utah Looses to Air force this weekend. Oh what a shame!
Great article | 8:54 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
It will be fun to ESPN College game day in our state again. Corso and his head predictions are always fun! I definitely think he will don the Frog Head on Saturday! Can't wait to see the reaction of the byu fans when he does. They might even try and tip over the set.
re: BIG BROTHER? | 8:56 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
here = where you are
hear = what your ears do

Big Brother is what BYU is to little brother up on the hill.

Enjoy your trip to Albuquerque!

SHOT SEASON?? | 9:03 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Here i thought that one loss for both Utah and the TDS was nothing. Is it not a conference title we are supposed to be shooting for? Are both teams not Undefeated in Conference play? I do think there is plenty to save in this season. I also think that TCU is the best team in the conference and the team to beat. I sure hope they prove it Sat and kill the cougs. Then the utes beat the frogs and cougs and Win the Conference Outright two years in a row.
RE: RE: ...not so fast  | 9:04 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Whether Boise State or TCU make it to a BCS bowl game, it's all the same for all non-BCS teams. Unlike BCS conferences, when a non-BCS teams makes it to a BCS bowl, the money they get gets divided amongst all non-BCS conferences. In other words, the pie gets sliced pretty thin!

... Therefore, this is no reason for BYU to throw a game. Besides, if by some miracle BYU wins out, and Boise State loses 1 game, in theory BYU could be in. It's still a long shot, but stranger things have happened in the world of college football. Gotta love this game! Go Cougs!
The Corso Curse | 9:10 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Zany is right, and the previous post about 2/3rds of Corso's picks being wrong is spot on...BYU fans should pray that Corso doesn't get swept up in a local fever and pick BYU....My brother often invokes the Corso curse, by predicting what he doesn't want to happen and muttering 'Lee Corso, Lee Corso, Lee Corso'

Go Blue!
Love the Ute fan | 9:12 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Typical loser personality, because Utah didnt get beat by Oregon as bad as BYU did against Fla St. Love it. The reality is Oregon tried everything they could do to hand you that game on a silver platter and you were to brutal to take it.
We are just hoping the TCU kicker chokes for us this year too! All you Utes know that the only reason you won last year!!!!
JIMI | 9:16 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
what have we done THIS YEAR...? hmm how about a huge win over alabama ? biggest win in mwc history !!
Anonymous | 9:20 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Let's be honest with ourselves. BYU has virtually no shot at a BCS bowl. it would be a miracle... However, that doesnt mean that the season is shot. They are still playing for a conference championship. Though that isnt as glorious as a BCS bowl it still is a notable accomplishment. BYU will end up ranked in the top 10 if they win out the rest of their games. I think BYU has been playing with a chip on their shoulder since that loss to florida st. and they will be playing hard on saturday against TCU. This is a big game for both teams and it will be great to watch...
To all BYU posters | 9:24 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
The comment of how BYU can't do what Utah has done meant they can't go undefeated like we have done in the past. Utah hasn't played super well but we are still winning. BYU is playing well too! TCU is a very good team and both BYU and TCU have something to prove and play for. I know TCU is awesome and I'm not so sure Utah can get it done in Fort Worth, so I don't want to hear any comments from cougars who say,

"What will Utah fans use as an excuse when their mighty utes fall to TCU? Can't wait to hear em.....
And you know they will!! " We'll probably say TCU was simply better.

But that is still 4 games away! We are only thinking about Air Force right now. I remember at the beginning of the season you all predicted Utah losing to San Jose, UNLV and CSU. Did it happen? No. We predicted you to lose to Oklahoma. Did it happen? NO. So step off your blue soapbox and just play football and talk smack AFTER losses happen!

You are all a bunch of immature losers.
Corso is no expert | 9:37 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
I would not give much credibility to Lee's predictions - either way. His game day predictions are about 65% (I have the same record picking stocks) and his coaching record is 73-85-6 (46%)

I will say, however, he is fairly entertaining.
What the Y have did? | 9:43 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
I don't think the original poster was saying that they Utes have done more this season than the Y. That's obvious that they have not! But, he meant that the this year the Cougs won't be able to match what the U has done in the past! Can you say UNDEFEATED! The U will collect the matched set of BCS Trophies, Fiesta... Check, Sugar... Check, Just ORANGES and ROSES, and the NC to go! Go UTES!!!
Ute Alum | 9:43 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
I'm hoping 5,000 Ute fans wearing red show up at Game Day! What an embarasment to the TDS that would be!
UteF@n | 9:53 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
I'm so insecure and I can't stand all this attention BYU is getting so I will post about Utah's BCS wins on EVERY BYU article this season. I will show up at the gameday set in Ute gear because I think that will show how passionate I am, but everyone who sees me on TV will just think I'm pathetic. I think Max Hall throws six interceptions every game since the only BYU game I watched was last year against Utah, but I conveniently can't remember him tossing the ball to collie on 4th and 18 and I've never heard of Harline. In fact, the only thing I remember before 2008 is 2004. Utah dominates BYU in every aspect of everything and my dad is bigger than your dad so neeener neeeener neeeeener. GO YEEEEWWWTZ.

GO FROGS!!! re:UteF@n 9:53. Why so defensive?
Re: Moose | 10:37 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
You're wrong.
TCU 28
BYU 13

Take it to the bank
Really? | 10:38 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
A question: Are some of you really serious?

Let's just talk real predictions without all the hate.

Corso picks TCU.

BYU beats TCU by 8. Man for man, position by position, TCU does not have the talent that BYU does. With one exception. I will, however, take a steady and very hard-hitting Coleby Clawson any day over a wild undisciplined Kelsey or whatever his name is.

Speed kills. But it's not a track meet.

I predict that BYU has more sacks on TCU than visa versa. Harvey will have over 100 yards rushing and two other's will have plus 40 each. I think at the end of the game the talk will be that TCU was over-rated, instead of how good BYU really is.

When Sunday afternoon comes, BYU will move up 5 spots due to TWO top ten wins...most in the Nation. TCU will drop 8, but end up one spot ahead of Utah. Utah will beat AFA, but on an AFA miscue. A fumble late in the blue zone or a pick late in the 4th, also inside the blue zone. If the late TO does not happen, utes lose.

Not so FAST!!!!! #6 Iowa (7-0) heads up to E. Lansing, with a trap game ahead of its visit to Columbus in 2 weeks...
Re: Love the Ute fan | 9:12 a.m. | 10:41 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
"The reality is Oregon tried everything they could do to hand you that game on a silver platter and you were to brutal to take it."

Hold on there, sister. The BYU Oklahoma game was one of the sloppiest games I have ever sat through until Utah played S. Jose St. Oklahoma happened to be sloppier than BYU that day. 1 point win...not much to brag about especially since Oklahoma has LOST HALF OF THEIR GAMES!!

We are just hoping the TCU kicker chokes for us this year too! All you Utes know that the only reason you won last year!!!!

Madam, you take what the game gives you. We all know that if BYU had a defender with a vertical leap like Aiona Key, BYU fans would be saying that opponents miss field goals because of the man in the middle. The young man from TCU missed two field goals. So what? Utah would have still found a way to win because that's who they were.

If you really don't believe that Utah was good last year, how about this:

Utah 31 Alabama 17
Utah 48 BYU 24

Stop fretting over the past.
Samurai Jack | 10:53 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Ute Alum

It wouldn't be an embarrassment. Nobody would care.

You really gotta get past the point where everything is about you. Really.

This week is BYU vs. TCU. Get outta here and go play Air Force.
Why the bid deal? | 10:53 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Utah has beat TCU three years straight. It would have been four in a row, but TCU performed and illegal pick in '05 that wasn't called and prevented Utah's win.

If the Y can get up for this game, they'll win.
Re: UteF@n | 11:00 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
I about fell off my chair when I read that! Couldn't have said it better myself!
Hello | 11:04 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
You can't even get 5000 Ute fans to a game at Rice-Eccles. What makes you think you can get that many down to Provo for a BYU game.
Class of '89 | 11:13 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Don't worry about Corso or any other predictions. Just take care of business on the field.

BYU has been a bit of a jekyll and hyde team this year. I hope the right team shows up Saturday--the one that played incredible defense against Oklahoma, not the one that slacked against CSU and Utah State.

And so help me if BYU runs on first and second down all game long I'm going to burst into flames. Quit being so predictable on offense, Cougars!
BYUF@n | 11:21 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
I'm so secure and have a true knowldge of my Beloved Cougs. I love all this attention I think BYU is getting, I will spend my time on all BYU articles talking about the Utes and what I think they are like. I will not be at gameday due to a home teaching appointment, but I will make sure I do "popcorn popping" at the gam because I think that will show how passionate I am, but everyone who sees me on TV will just think I'm pathetic. I know Max Hall will not throw any more interceptions because he is a senior and "on paper" he is the best QB in the nation bar none. To quote statitics I only count back enough years as required what gives my cougs the advantage, I would never think the all time record is significant. The only year I remember is 1984, even though I was only 2. BYU dominates Utah in every aspect of everything and my dad is more spirtual than your dad so neener neener neener. GO CoUgers!!!!!
The correct answer is | 11:22 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
that BYU will win the game on Saturday. After the FSU loss, everyone seems to think that BYU has been sucking wind and have won their last 3 games by their fingernails - don't think that is the case, exactly. Neither TCU or Utah has been blowing people away, either, so even by comparison, I wouldn't say any of the 3 are overachieving at this point.

I watched some of the Utah / Oregon game (4th quarter mostly) and I can't say that Utah showed up during that game - that game was very winnable and they could be sitting on the BCS bubble right now, but they couldn't close the deal. BYU got worked and looked like they didn't care playing FSU (huge mistake).

Corso is good for kicks and giggles, but I doubt his theatrics or the coincidence of GameDay being in Provo has much predictive value here - I'd say is whether or not the coaches prep their teams appropriately and if the players decide to show up. Call me a homer but I don't think Bronco will make the FSU mistake twice in the same season.
M. | 11:23 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Why aren't Ute fans commenting on articles about the Utes? (What's that, there's absolutely no reason to write about the Utes? Ok, makes sense then.)
Anonymous | 11:35 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Goodbye Sam Bradford! Goodbye Andy Dalton!
