No...their not...

While I am against animal cruelty....we need to remember that most of us like to eat them. And I don't think that's cruel. In my experience anyone who wants stiffer animal cruelty laws generally (a) is not a professional who works with animals, and (b) wants us all to be vegans.

While dog fighting and torturing animals for fun and stuff like that is sick and wrong...we don't want to legislate away our freedoms...like the freedom to eat a hamburger. AND we need to keep in mind that animals ARE NOT humans...and the punishments for doing things to animals should be LESS than if they were done to a human. To put animals and humans on the same level is stupidity. In some cases I'm aware of involving wild horses, the punishment is more severe for killing a sick starving injured horse than for killing a fellow human being...that's pathetic and wrong.

Those who are in favor of allowing animal cruelty because of concern about "legislating away our freedoms" are sadly misguided. Are our freedoms compromised because child pornography, murder and rape are outlawed? There is a vast distinction between killing animals for food versus the violent torture of animals to satisfy a sick fetish. This deviant behavior is nothing short of demonic. Animals are sentient creatures who feel the same emotions we do. Like children who cannot fend for themselves it is up to us to protect them. Outlawing animal cruelty is not a slippery slope issue, but basic human decency.

YES THEY ARE! This is an enlightening and horrifying article. Anyone who can picture poor dogs and cats being tortured and call it okay needs serious help! The dogs and cats that are tortured to death sure don't think it's okay. Just becuase animals aren't human, does it mean they don't bleed, or experience pain? Does it make it right to hurt them becuase they don't have a voice?
