No clear majority? Get Real! | 6:53 a.m. Oct. 22, 2009
Joe Hatch says that no clear majority is apparent? At the planning commission hearing there was a clear 80% majority that was not in favor of the ordinance. At East Mill Creek Community Council meetings the numbers have been similar. If this ordinance passes the Canyon Rim and East Millcreek Communities should be able to see that Jani Iwamoto and the at large Councilmen DO NOT represent the majority of its residents. What should they then do? Vote them out or form their own city!

Pretty soon, this story will be innudated with comments about how a 1700 square foot house was sufficient to raise kids in their day, so it should be fine now, and how greedy people are nowadays. They don't realize that while that may be true, people don't want to do that, and Millcreek will lose families.
How do I know? I moved because I couldn't find anything that fit my family, even though I loved Millcreek. This ordinance will turn Millcreek into a non-family friendly area, property values will go down and it will be a disaster for the community. Finally, I'm all for preservation, but Millcreek is not the Avenues or Sugarhouse with houses of grand architecture, unless you think 1950s tract-house ramblers somehow have some architectural value.

What's the definition of an environmentalist? He's the guy that already has his cabin. Similarly, you can tell the supporters of this ordinance. They're the ones that already have either a two story house or large house and don't want anyone else to build another such house around them. Look no farther than the spokesman for Buildwise.
