This is the real start of the Boylen era. Last year, we experienced the best of the old coach's recruits and now, we are gtting a taste of Boylen's guys. You can see the writing on the wall with Boylen saying "the Utes probably won't sneak up on too many people this year." That is a nice way of saying, "we will be losing."

Prepare for an ugly year with these recruits. Carlos Brown is the best guy on the team but he doesn't have much support. All great players need solid teammates. Look for Carlos to have to do too much.

The MAC still smells of a mid-major conference.

It's kind of sad that you were the first to post on this story when you obviously don't know anything about what you are talking about.

First off, it's Carlon Brown - not Carlos. You might be right about the MAC being a mid-major conference but the Utes play in the MWC (mountain west conference).

It is understandable for Boylen to reset expectations from last - we lost 7 guys. That is a lot for any program. I do feel that Boylen has been able to recruit a higher level of athalete than Giacoletti did so it should be an interesting season. I'm excited to see what the team can do.

Boylen is a good coach and I'm glad we have him - he is building the program back to what it was (not that long ago).

Go Utes!!!

Obviously you don't know Utah basketball, so please refrain from commenting. What a schedule, hopefully some of the games will be on ESPN in HD. The Mtn. is just horrible.

Only returning about 20 ppg with your returning starters. WOW. Who is going to account for the other 8 you will score per game? Could be a long year Utes. Luckily you beat Alabama last year. Remember that?

It's always interesting to read comments from people who don't have a clue, but try to sound like
"the expert". He Utes may have lost 7 good players last year, but Boylen is a great coach and has recuited well. Be watching for a 7'3" center from Southern California. He is a mature RM. He will help a LOT in replacing Luke Nevill. Who, by the way, was VERY SOFT until Boylen got there.
So, lets wait until they start playing before we try to sound like the Expert.

I am excited for the upcoming Runnin' Utes season. I think many of us will be surprised with this particular squad. They are going to be tremendous defensively and should put themselves in position for an NCAA Tournament berth.

Utah fans, get it together and make the trek up to the Huntsman Center to support Coach Boylen and the basketball squad.

I echo the words of Utah Man that we need to get up to the Huntsman Center and support this team. Boylen has set up a great schedule and has a team buying into his coaching style. Let's help make sure we don't pull another Southwest Baptist gaffe the first game (albeit exhibition) of the season against Findlay.

We still have not figured out whether or not Boylen can recruit. Four starters this year are all Giacoletti recruits. David Foster, Carlon Brown, Luca Drca, and Kim Tillie are all Giac's signees. I find it hard to believe that after three years, Boylen hasn't signed somebody who can come in and is better than these four starters. Espcially Tillie. Of course Boylen gets to debut one of his recruits since we need a fifth player, but is that by default or does he really have somebody. All the instate kids are signing to play in Provo. Even this year, are we going to find out if Boylen can recruit.......time will tell, by the way I hope he can and has some weapons....but Giac's kids are still the starters even in year three of Boylen ball. "Were getting stronger, were getting faster,..."

Who has Boylen recruited....most posters are giving him credit for the four starters. While he did retain their scholarships and has coached them better, he DID NOT recruit Carlon Brown, Luca Drca, Kim Tillie, or David Foster. All four starters are Ray Giac's kids. Here it is year three of Jimbo's contract and he is living off Giacolletti's kids, still.

I can't wait to see how this team does without the big man in the middle. We will really see how good of a coach Boylen really is. I suspect it will be a long season and a 4th at best or 6th at worse season. Anything below that and it will be a very bad season. Anything above 4th this year would be a success.

Utes will struggle mightily this season.

1st) Who cares if these kids aren't who Boylen recruited??? What does recruiting have to do with coaching? Sure, he didn't find them, but admit that Drca and Brown have come a long way with Boylen's leadership. 2nd) Like Boylen always says... toughness, defense and speed are what win games. Boylen has already made winners out of Giac's recruits who weren't doing so hot (remember how Kepkay's decision making was ridiculously off?... and Sean Green hardly moved his butt up and down the court?... and how wimpy Luke Nevill was before he started acting like a big guy and getting rebounds and blocks?... and how LB finally turned into a leader?...) Be doubters. You obviously know nothing about Jimmy B. He has more passion for the game than any other coach I've ever seen. That alone inspires his guys more than anything. The Utes will finish in the top 3 of the Mountain West... No doubt. Stupid comments from the last 3 uniformed doubters.
