West-siders want city to continue to manage Sorenson center

Being a multicultural center only means one thing, more subsidized living for illegals. The city or government should not be free day care centers for illegals or any other group. Families should care for their own in full and not expect government at tax payer expense to be benefactors. These illegals seem to forget they are here in america under protest of the american people and we refuse to subsidize their criminal lives.

Make the business community pay for and care for the illegals they employ as the federal law says they must do. So get off my back and talk to your employers and stop pestering the american people.

Some of these guys that are FOR SL County are cowards! How can Clark not know the prices and council, they are the ones that set the fees. PUHLEASE! We didn't know about FREE activities! Gimme a break!

The Sorensen Center is an embarrassment when compared with east side rec facilities. It's closed on Sunday and feels like a low end substitute when viewed next to the Steiner Center up by the University. If the City wants the housing on the West Side of Salt Lake to become attractive to a diverse mix of families, it needs to stop branding everything as services for the poor. If the city does transfer management to the County, they need an iron clad promise that the Center will not be closed. The goal should be for the west side to get the same benefits available to residents in the Avenues and elsewhere.

I was asked to sign a petition recently to keep the center operated under those currently running it. I would like more information. It is stated that the center was/is being poorly operated. Is this referring to anything else besides the sloppy fee collecting?
